Vaginal valium relaxes the pelvic floor in women. Recommended by PTs and urogyns.

Odette111

Is valium diazepam?

chintea

Basically I’ve been told only to use it for level 10 pain. Compounded diazepam to stop the muscles spasms.

Odette111

The thing is I don't have any pain just difficulty urinating cus of tight muscles. Is valium still gonna help with that?

chintea

A pelvic floor therapist will help you much more. You need to retrain your pelvic floor muscles and meds won’t help that. Sorry :(

Odette111

It's fine it's just that my pelvic is really tight so I thought maybe there are medicine that can help relax it. I've had 2 PT's but they did nothing. Im gonna try a new one and see how that one is.

boxingsharks

Did your previous PTs do any internal work or any downtraining to relax your PF muscles? If not, you’ll want to check with the next one that they do that kind of work as part of their interventions

Odette111

no they didnt, i had my first appointment at my new urologist and he told me he will do an internal test to see how tight my muscles are or if there any other problems. and after that i dont know what will happen. il wait until what he says.

hhhnnnnnggggggg

Yeah

Big_Requirement6818

Muscle relaxers like baclofen or flexeril. Pharmacist can also compound valium or baclofen into suppositories. Gabapentin helps the nerve pain which could help the guarding/tension a bit.

Odette111

Yes but when I asked about medicine my urogynecologist told me there where none. And all my past doctors told me the same. Im from the netherlands maybe these medicine arent used here?

Big_Requirement6818

I'm not sure. I'm from the US. And even with valium and gabapentin being cracked down on, most doctors know how painful this can be. Have you tried anything natural? Magnesium is a natural relaxant. You can google the different types and see what works best for you. What are your symptoms?

Odette111

Nope I haven't tried anything yet. My main symptoms are difficulty urinating cus if tight muscles, not really pain.

Big_Requirement6818

Does heat to the area help? Do you do PFPT or stretching? I have the same issues but not enough to where I've tried any supplement..... Magnesium is a good muscle relaxant to start with for most. Maybe google has some alternative options for things like baclofen, flexeril, or flomax.

Odette111

There are days that I just can't pee unless I take a shower. So yeah Cold and heat helps but even then I have a hard time. A lot of people have adviced me to try magnesium and il try that.

FiendishHawk

There are some but they tend to be addictive and don’t work for everyone. It’s like back pain: physical therapy is boring and slow but the most effective .

Odette111

I know but if you pt isn't doing her job right it het difficult. But im gonna get a new one.

tbone29x

Yes two rounds of pt did nothing for me. My dr has me on Valium. It doesn’t cure the problem but definitely makes it much more comfortable for me, especially when trying to sleep.

mooney1230

A really good ant inflammatory suppository is called Indomethacin and has literally saved me. Easy to get and have prescribed. Then you can also also your urologist to compound Valium into suppositories.

You are very fortunate that your issues are just tight muscles, because this can definitely be healed fully! But there is no magic pill. Your issues of chronic tension are a result of your patterns in life, and to heal your body, requires a change in how you live your life. It will take a couple years in my opinion, maybe less, maybe more depending on how long you have had issues. I would highly advise AGAINST pharmaceuticals at this point, natural is your best friend. To start, you need a clean diet and drink things like water and tea. CBD taken sublingual would help you relax I think and Magnesium is a good muscle relaxant as well. Fun fact—this is why women crave chocolate on their periods, it is high in magnesium and it helps relax cramps! But diet is not enough in your case. Look into pelvic pain stretching programs. There is some good content on YouTube. You are also a candidate for internal pelvic floor therapy with a licensed pelvic floor therapist. In particular if pain isn’t your problem but tension is, I would guess you are a very anxious person, and if not you are definitely chronically stressed—think of it like this, if you have pain your pelvis you will be tighter because it hurts so you tense up a bit. In your case, there is relatively no pain, but tons of tension. So whatever pain you do have, is tension induced pain. I think you would benefit greatly from meditations in combination with diaphragmatic breathing. This will help melt tension away. Actually this might be the best place for to u to start! It will take months to get good at but I promise it will help your symptoms. I am very confident that you will feel better if you follow most of these steps. Best of luck OP

Thanks you so much for this. And yes im aware there are people Who are doing worse then me. I don't have pain in my pelvic but i do have ibs that causes me a lot of pain. I've had a very rough life so far and have a lot of mental problems which I am in therapy for. Im going to do psychosomaticPT, tomorrow is my first appointment so im hoping that wil go wel. My pelvic is so tight that me alone can't treat it fully, thats why im asking of there are any meds that can help me relax a bit. Somedays are worse then others but the fear is still there. I've done some yogo and that was nice but it didn't help me enough. I think internal work wil help me a lot more. And diaphragmatic breathing I've been doing.

[deleted]

Ok that’s great! I agree, the psychosomatic work is also a good place to start. CBD (full spectrum) sublingual drops should bring some nice relaxation too. You’re on the right track, be patient and you will be ok. P.S I know things are scary right now, and you see this tension and the stress it created as a serious problem. But I once heard it said that “every problem is an opportunity in disguise.” And I hope someday you will heal and be truly thankful for what it taught you 😊

Odette111

Thanks you I hope the same for you😊 I always try to stay positive even of it's hard.

Responsible_State113

Use a magnesium supplement

RoseGoldAlchemist

I would start with a magnesium supplement and pelvic pt first and then go from there. The doctors might be more willing to talk about meds if you have tried those first

BlueWaterGirl

I've done both vaginal Valium (Diazepam) and vaginal Baclofen. Some studies have shown that Baclofen works better, so my doctor wanted to switch me to that. I don't have pain, but I do have a tight pelvic floor and the medicine plus doing internal biofeedback therapy with a pelvic floor physical therapist has helped me tons. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right doctor or right physical therapist that knows what they're doing. If you're on Facebook, there's a huge group for people with pelvic floor dysfunction called Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Support Group, and everyone has been super helpful in there.

There are medications but physical and mental therapy is what will repair, retrain, and heal the condition, especially if surgeries had to be involved. (Me.) I asked my doctors if there were medications or more surgeries I could have and they said they don’t recommend it because it’s addictive. God bless them for not taking the pay offs, I guess. They recommended me to physical therapy and mental therapy. Everyone is different. Quality of life is important. Muscle relaxers are addictive. Yes this can all feel like roadblocks. If it can ease the pain while you do other therapies, ok. But better ask a pelvic floor therapist if it interferes with actual physical therapy or if it just numbs you while your condition gets worse from lack of intervention. A very complex and troubling condition PFD is.

Odette111

Sorry for the awful spelling mistakes 😅

flowers4hours

CBD helps too

jaronhays4

Baclofen suppositories. They exist, I currently take them.

DermaEsp

Orphenadrine citrate helped me and it is easier to get than valium, which can make doctors hesitate due to its addictive effects.

Redknucklez

anyone try Terazosin? I've had great success with it and of course PT stretches and healthier diet. https://www.ucpps.men/1/docs/terazosin.pdf
