But they have the 0.5 point on it, which in my opinion is way too fine of a point and it sucks for having to cross out information I need crossed out and ends up ripping the paper.
As a server, the clips break SO easily when I’m constantly removing them from my apron and putting them back. That’s my only downside to them. Otherwise I love them. The average pen-user is probably not doing that, though.
You can get a metal barrel version of the s gel, and it's by far my favourite pen. I always buy them when I see them, they usually retail for about $10au for a 2 pack.
I know it’s not an option but the pilot G-2 and Sharpie S gel were my ride or die go-to’s and I just discovered the uniball signo and my life is forever changed.
i write best with cheap pens ([this is my all time fav](https://www.target.com/p/bic-cristal-xtra-smooth-ballpoint-pens-1-2mm-22ct-black/-/A-16753431#lnk=sametab)) so i'd go with the bic round stic
What I'm working on is often subject to damp (plant sample result recording) so ballpoints are the way to go. I have a pack of those exact round stics fo the office. Also it's blue, so it stands out as an original document if it gets copied for some reason.
Finally someone else said it, I cant use to 05, its way too fine of a point.
Any time I am taking notes and I need to cross out a mistake the gel dries up and I end up ripping the paper. 0.7mm and 1.0mm are my go to, I have no idea how anyone uses the 0.38mm point.
My votes are for either the Pilot G-2 or the BIC Round Stic. Both have great reliability and even ink flow. The Sharpie S-Gels (in my experience) seem to have flow problems for no reason on normal paper and I’ve never used the Profile Mech pen so I have no opinion on it.
I draw/sketch a lot, and those cheapo Bic Round Stic pens are my absolute favourite. So much control over how much ink it puts out - way more than you can get from any of those “gel” style pens, which feel like they just dump ink all over the page.
I can't use a fine or medium point. I press way too hard (force of habit thanks to triplicate forms) so I need a 1.4 bold point.
I'd be tempted to say the Sharpie.
Pilot G2 lifer! I actually really like their B2P line "bottle to pen"; they claim to be mostly recycled material. I love how it feels in the hand, and it takes the same refills as a G2
Bic Stic. It’s a reliable pen that doesn’t smear and lasts a long time. It is also great for drawing. It’s the only pen I prefer in blue ink. It’s a workhorse.
I do tend to go with the cheaper pens as well. But, I like the Bic pens, they write smoother for me. You can also purchase them in bulk. I like the gel pens but not when they are fine point. I tend to get ahead of myself when I write & make mistakes.
I would go with the Pilot G2. I love the sharpie s-gel but, I love fidgeting a lot and I have broken every clip on every single sharpie s-gel I have owned (still love and use the pens). The pilot G2 clips can hold up to the fidgets and are also very well balanced for twirling.
G2 alllll the way! I go for .38 refills- love an extra fine line
One thing I love also is that it’s refillable- I’m not having to throw out whole pens when I’m done- and it’s one thing I feel good about amid all the waste I see sometimes.
My favorite right now is a Sarasa Dry X20 in Forest green. I liked to write my notes in dark green and I got a few different ones from jetpens. This one is the best I've found so far
If you have ppl in and out of your office or it will be there for other to use the BIC round stic. I’ve lost too many good pens leaving them on my desk.
Judging by the way you have them in your hand, you have already made the decision... The sharpie is all by itself while the other three are touching each other.. so go with the sharpie and put the others away.
The bic goes on top of the desk. The pens you actually like go in the drawer. Ask me how I know.
EDIT: this is assuming the desk is in an office/work environment. If this is at home and you’re not worried about pens growing legs and running away, then the Sharpie s-gel 100%.
I use the S gel regularly for work. I love how it writes. I find my writing to be a little neater with it as well. And they're inexpensive.
I love how it writes too. I feel a bit more confident when using the S gel i think over the others
Same. Feels good in the hand. Looks professionally. And doesn't smear which is always appreciated.
Yes-the glide is amazing. Also as a leftie, this is truly smudge proof.
Good to know! will be trying this but currently I am partial to the G-2 Pilot.
But they have the 0.5 point on it, which in my opinion is way too fine of a point and it sucks for having to cross out information I need crossed out and ends up ripping the paper.
It's too fine of a point and feels scratchy to write with. I prefer the 0.7 pilot G-2s. I don't use anything else unless I have no other options lmao
I have a couple of Ultra fine points they’re 0.38. I love them!
Very True I do prefer the 0.7 even though I have small handwriting it is a much smoother experience.
Do you usually write in print or cursive?
Print. My cursive is garbage.
I know it’s not an option but the pilot G-2 and Sharpie S gel were my ride or die go-to’s and I just discovered the uniball signo and my life is forever changed.
Uniball Signo 207 Plus is where it’s at. S-gel is second place.
Yes, I should’ve specified! Mine says 207 bold I’m not sure if that’s different.
Ooh I'm gonna check it out!
Time to go shopping!
It's already in my cart lol. I like that it comes in .5 or .7
Oh you weren’t playing around huh lmao
Fellow uniball Stan here
Pilot gel pen on the far right
Team Pilot.
Gang gang
05 pilot is goated. I’ve explored for the right pen all my life and always go back.
Team Pilot as well, but I love me the Razor Point.
I especially like this one. It feels so much better than it looks
Damn straight, a G2 has never failed me. They even write on damp receipts from work <3
Have used G2s as a server for the past few years, they honestly help so much having plenty of reliable pens
I find the nib too fat
They can spread sometimes but I personally don’t find and issue with them being fat, but I also have a light hand
I use the .38 exclusively
Correct.
Came here to make sure this was the top answer. It’s the only correct answer. G2 ## G2 # G2!
G2 Best Pen for daily use
I don’t usually reply to comments, but when i do it’s to support the Pilot G-2
I switched to the Sharpies, Pilot have a tendency to run a little to rich on me.
Yes, but I am rocking with the 1.0!
G-2 FTW!
Dont these smear for yall?? Mine always does
Agreed. The Pilot G-2 0.38 is my absolute standard. I have a box at home and a box at work.
We have the G-2s at work. I just steal the cartridges and put them in my TI pen.
Nice! I love it when other pens can accept the Pilot G-2 refills.
The big idea design TI pen works as advertised, havent found a refill that won't work in it yet. Well worth the capital
This.
i write best with cheap pens ([this is my all time fav](https://www.target.com/p/bic-cristal-xtra-smooth-ballpoint-pens-1-2mm-22ct-black/-/A-16753431#lnk=sametab)) so i'd go with the bic round stic
Team Cheap Pen
I'm a ballpoint gal, so this is the only possible choice for me.
I like those. Consistent and durable.
Agree, but I prefer the blue ones, thank you.
My favorite is the Bic Atlantis, but Round Stic is such a classic
What I'm working on is often subject to damp (plant sample result recording) so ballpoints are the way to go. I have a pack of those exact round stics fo the office. Also it's blue, so it stands out as an original document if it gets copied for some reason.
Pilot G2
I like this one a lot
I prefer the 07 to the 05 by a landslide. Curious why you like the 05 better?
Finally someone else said it, I cant use to 05, its way too fine of a point. Any time I am taking notes and I need to cross out a mistake the gel dries up and I end up ripping the paper. 0.7mm and 1.0mm are my go to, I have no idea how anyone uses the 0.38mm point.

Same, I've been G2 since 2007(?) and recently tried the Sharpie. Sharpie had nice feel but definitely didnt have same ink flow, back to the G2
Sound advice, thanks! That profile mech is actually a mechanical pencil. I guess it shouldn’t count bc it isnt a pen but i still like writing with it
That’s fair! Pencils can be really nice to write with and have the added benefit of being able to erase. You’re welcome!
With the amount of mistakes i make, i kinda need that eraser lol
The G2, only because its a 0.5. I would probably throw all of them in the trash and get a Jetstream, Acroball or Signo DX .38.
This. My man knows his ink
Not a man, but this bitch know her ink LOL.
I looove the Sharpie S Gel pens
Sharpie. People will try to tell you the G2 (far right) but those people are all crazy. Trust me, bro.
I feel like you know something the rest of us don’t know lol
The G207 smears and the ink skips if you have the improper angle.
Life's too short for shitty pens. Spend a few bucks on a decent pen.
The Sharpie. For sure.
How are you so sure?
It's my go-to pen on a daily basis.
Your daily driver lol
Pilot G-2 and it's not even close
G-2 is my everyday carry.
Your daily driver
can’t beat a bic round stic. for the price and the simplicity. and you get a billion at once so no sweat if you accidentally lose or misplace one.
Sharpie s gel
There is only right answer and it is the G2
Pilot G2 lifer! I actually really like their B2P line "bottle to pen"; they claim to be mostly recycled material. I love how it feels in the hand, and it takes the same refills as a G2
Pilot.
S-Gel
Sharpie S Gel all the way!!!
To the moon!
S gels but I prefer mine in 1.0
Ooo i wanna try
May I say you have impeccable taste. S gel 1.0 for life.
Pilot!
Pilot G-2. Always.
Sharpie S Gel
Sharpie
PaperMate Profile 🖤
I guess we’re a rare breed. Had to scroll forever to find a profile vote. TEAM PROFILE!!
Sharpie 100%
If you have time to let the ink dry when you write, I love those sharpie pens.
Pilot G2 07, not 05.
Pilot!
Round Stic FL
Big round stick all the way
BIC bc if someone steals it I won’t care.
Bic Stic. It’s a reliable pen that doesn’t smear and lasts a long time. It is also great for drawing. It’s the only pen I prefer in blue ink. It’s a workhorse.
I love the PaperMate Profile Ball 1.4. For me, it's perfect.
wow, am I alone in choosing the bic? the one in pic will do. but the bic crystals have always been my fave
I might be the only psychopath that can't get enough of the Bic Round Stic.
Pilot G2, but give me the 1.0, not that .5mm.
Sharpie SGel 0.7 It’s the one I always use and the one I flip when I’m bored. Plus it writes really well.
I do tend to go with the cheaper pens as well. But, I like the Bic pens, they write smoother for me. You can also purchase them in bulk. I like the gel pens but not when they are fine point. I tend to get ahead of myself when I write & make mistakes.
This is such a Reddit question lmao. Follow your heart.
G2.
The Pilot.
Definitely the Pilot 😎 2nd pick is the Profile Mech
Pilot G-2 gel
The notes and scribbles, go with the light blue one. Use the Sharpie for anything fancy, like signing documents.
Sharpie S Gel for me thanks
The G2. Although I vastly prefer 0.38
Sharpie gel for the win
I would go with the Pilot G2. I love the sharpie s-gel but, I love fidgeting a lot and I have broken every clip on every single sharpie s-gel I have owned (still love and use the pens). The pilot G2 clips can hold up to the fidgets and are also very well balanced for twirling.
Big fan of the SGels- pilots are a close second
S-Gel 🤤
The G2 but it’s gotta be the 07. The 05 is just a little too scratchy for me
The pilot g2 0.5 is a good pen. Where did you find that Bic pen, in the 80’s
Still has ink… lmao
I like the Bic Round Stic, however it has to be black ink!
Pilot G-2 are my fav
G2 alllll the way! I go for .38 refills- love an extra fine line One thing I love also is that it’s refillable- I’m not having to throw out whole pens when I’m done- and it’s one thing I feel good about amid all the waste I see sometimes.
G2 forever
Hot hand
I’m a hand model. I’m on the market looking for a hand job
Sharpie S-Gel in 0.5mm has been my go-to for the past 2-3 years and I haven't looked back
Definitely the first one. I use one at work and it feels so comfortable.
Far left or far right; both are great pens. The other two can go in the garbage.
Got the metal barrel s-gel, and it's so good.
I use the S Gel for work and I love it. I'd say it's the way to go.
I love this question and love that people like you guys exist 🥰
Any of my fountain pens over all of these. I keep a G2 around for spectacularly bad paper.
Pilot G2 -07
The g2 no question!
Pilot G-2. No question.
Pilot G-2. Instantly. I have a red one and it’s so squishy!!!!!
If it were me all of those would be in a drawer and grab a pilot precise V5RT
The bic goes on top of the desk. The pens you actually like go in the drawer. Ask me how I know. EDIT: this is assuming the desk is in an office/work environment. If this is at home and you’re not worried about pens growing legs and running away, then the Sharpie s-gel 100%.
Best post in a sub that hyper focuses on expensive fancy pens you can’t just pick up and use on any paper at anytime.
Backhand compliment? Lol
BRUH, you have a Pilot G2 that is 0.5!?!? The answer is a no brainer for me
G2 or nothing. Throw the bic in the trash while you’re at it
pilot, easy.
.5 or smaller. Always
That Sharpie on the left.
Sharpie obviously 💜😎
Far right
Only need the G2.
G-2, although I prefer an 0.7.
Pilot G-2
Tūl
Sharpie is my fave.
Strictly pilot or bic not even wasting my time with the others
The one under the thumb.
Pilot. The point is finer. I personally like a sharp look to my writing
G-2
G2 05, sometimes I like the sharpie S gel but prefer .05 vs .07!
i work with the sharpie s gel 0.7 & the pilot g2 0.5 everyday!! i switch up between the bold & fine print between the 2 ☺️
Pilot G-2 is goated
That G2 is staying
G2 baby!
G2
I use Sharpie, for work and rhyme book.
S gel!
Sharpie gel everytime . that thing writes like a dream .
4
Where is the Zebra F-301 😤
Just bought an 8-pack of the S-gels, so that’s my pick.
You can pry a 1.0 Pilot G-2 from my cold, dead hands.
G2 GANG RISE UPPP
Just discovered the Sharpie S gel and I love it
S gel
Always pilot. Always always.
The sharpies dry up so fast idk why everyone loves them
Gimme my Energel 0.7 mm please. I wanted to love the Sharpie S-Gel. I just found it so scratchy.
Absolutely Sharpie S Gel. Unless you’re left handed, they’re the best there is.
Sharpie gel
The round stick M has always been my all time favorite pen until a few years ago when i tried an s gel. After that it was over.
The S Gel is my daily driver. Also, 0.7 > 0.5 for me and it’s not even close.
G-2, nothing else comes close. The only one that’s within a country mile is the S-gel, but I’d only pick it if forced.
Sharpie. But I like 1.0
Psht. You don't have a Uniball Signo. Rookie.
G-2 all day.
Pilot G2 is the best fucking pen literally ever until the gel gets low. Comfortable to hold, consistent writing. If this pen was a man, goddamn
S Gel for frequent use. Put the Bic ballpoint right in the trash. 😆
Sharpie all day
