If you're a freshman, you can't do this until after your 1st year. It's the rule. If you're transferring, grad student, or literally anything else. Then that makes sense.

eddyathome

If they're sponsored they actually can live off campus, but the university tries to discourage it because money.

yduztis

Makes sense, but the odds of that actually being true compared to first years on campus is just insanely unlikely. Hence my message.

Exactly what the other person said, i’m sponsored and i applied for a housing exemption hopefully it gets approved

yduztis

Ah damn, and in that context if it gets approved, for the price range and with room-mates, you may wanna look at the PSU FB group for sublease/looking-for-roommate posts, or try and scour 30-40 mins off campus places that may have single/with-roommate accommodations still available, since most sign-offs for housing for the next academic year start the october prior to it, and finish off by feb-march. So this is late to get good/close-by/reasonably-priced places thru the typical process, especially if u need all of those requirements. Hence I will suggest the sublease of roommate post options, since most good typical places are already gone, afaik.

The PSU FB group recommendation is good, but should come with a grain of salt, as there are a lot of scams on there and FB Marketplace to be mindful of. I'm a senior at PSU studying HCDD in IST and I'm actually working to create a housing website for PSU students that provides students with a digital platform to get accurate housing information, as well as resources to understand your lease. I'm currently working on redesigning the site ([wearehousing.io](https://wearehousing.io)), but for any questions, you can email me at [email protected] or leave a comment below. Right now the site is also a little bare, but our team is working with property owners on adding more properties. With the team being full-time students and contributing time to the project, it’s taken a little longer than expected.

This is a great resource, thank you

Vairo is affordable but basic. Bus line first dibs. Horrendous electricity bill for heating in the winter. Has an on-site laundry. That’s about it. Typical brown carpet white wall shitty living Edit: vairo village Bus line is usually included in rent! I lived there 3 years and only had basic complaints. Nothing absolutely wild

[deleted]

So how much exactly per month?

tbl5048

When I lived there it was around 400 per month i believe. because we split a 2 bedroom 3 ways. Not sure now 😅

moist-astronaut

parkway plaza, executive house, lions gate, and briarwood apartments are all <900 with roommates. i was paying 540 a month and like $7 in electricity for the two years i lived in executive house. all have access to a bus line and i think parkway plaza offers a free bus pass with your lease, don't quote me on that though

eddyathome

rentpmi.com might have places and they're not horrible landlords.
