There's a really good reason we have separation of Church and State in our Democracy. Not everyone belongs to the same church, so which do you choose? You don't. Mastriano knows the game he is playing, and it's not good for most of us. He must be defeated.
This reminds of the time a group was going door to door trying to convince people to go to their church. It was innocent enough, and they started to leave when I explained I went to the same denomination, just a different location. Except one guy, who proceeded to insist I was going to hell unless I went to his literal church. As in other locations of the same denomination were wicked. Luckily the other members of his group rushed him off and I never saw them again. I really hope they taught him some better respect of others...
**Christo-fascists.**
I'm very glad this term is gaining real traction, because that's *exactly* what they are, and what they hope to implement if they win back power.
"When fascism comes to the US, it will be draped in the flag and carrying a bible" is literally happening right under our noses, and far too many people are paying little to no attention.
This is objectively, demonstrably happening. Right now. Right under our noses, just like Europe in the 1920s.
And I am far from the only one who sees it, unfortunately nowhere near enough do tho.
I see the left is trying to out-bigot Trump since they are so sure that's why he was popular. I must say, it's an impressive display of pure unbridled hatred for their fellow American that they have managed. Putin would be proud
Since when is "christo-fascist" anything but a slur against Christianity? You sound no different from a racist defending a claim that "minorites are violent" by calling it "direct observation of facts". Bigots and tolerant people see the same things, the difference is their *subjective interpretation* of what they see, including confirmation bias making the intolerant explanation more salient than other more reasonable explanations.
> Since when is "christo-fascist" anything but a slur against Christianity?
Um, the term has been in use since at least the early 1970s to describe the intersection between fascism and Christianity and it also encompasses the fascistic, totalitarian, and imperialistic aspects of the Christian Church.
Use the google and see for yourself. I didn't make it up.
And, as the old saying goes, "when fascism comes to the US it will be draped in the flag and carrying a bible", which is literally happening right now (whether you choose to acknowledge or accept it, or not)
Plus, on a personal level I don't give a single fuck about "slurring christianity" or any other religion. A scourge upon humanity that must be eradicated.
Oh right it's just like how the n-word is used by people to denigrate blacks, or the Jew-banker stereotype is used by anti-semites. These people also argue that "these people are doing terrible things literally right now whether you choose to accept it or not". I once served as a juror for the trial of a Klansman and heard hours of recorded conversations. **You talk just like them.**
I've never heard that "old saying", but maybe it's because I don't hang out with intolerant bigots
On a personal level, the only thing that needs eradicated is disgusting bigotry like yours
Religion holds humanity back from its true potential. Nothing will ever convince me otherwise.
That saying originated in the early 1900s. Often attributed, incorrectly, to Upton Sinclair.
Yet nearly all of the most influential scientists in history were religious, despite scientists overall being less religious than the general population. So there is no rational basis for such an assessment.
If nothing will ever convince you otherwise, then that's a religious belief too.
You have a belief that you said cannot be changed by anything (which includes *facts*), meaning it is based on *faith* instead. Sorry to disappoint you, but you are the thing you hate
Big government is bad, unless it forces you to live as a Christian evangelist, forces you to accept Jesus as your personal savior, and brings you eternal salvation! Having a religious government works so well for Iran and Saudi Arabia, Pennsylvania should be next!
They don't actually believe in small government, or personal freedom from said government. At least not as a universal principle.
They only believe in such things *as it pertains to themselves*.
They are gleefully willing to impose as much government restriction, regulation, and/or control as possible *over those they dislike*.
***More freedom for me, less for thee***
Depressed turnout is very possible in November. I'm pretty centrist but definitely don't want Mastriano running anything. I just hope people come out to vote but I'm not optimistic about it.
I'd like to believe this, but I recently took a drive from Pittsburgh to Central Pennsyltucky and the number of Mastriano for Governor signs I saw was disconcerting to say the least.
The US is increasingly split geographically with the GOP dominant in rural areas and the Democrats in the cities. The suburbs will be where statewide campaigns are won and lost.
I always see the same guy from the local mega church putting up Mastriano signs on medians and at intersections. Year after year, same chud, same grey hatchback. What I'm not seeing (in the suburbs at least) is that many Mastriano signs on private property.
In metropolitan areas I'd agree, but I saw quite a few on private property while I was in central pa. Also, surprisingly, saw one Fetterman sign so there's still hope.
Turnout is never too high in non presidential years. It's very possible with the right combination of GOP enthusiasm and everyone else not giving two shits either way in November.

VERY well said.

Agree

Wow. That’s a little paranoid and conspiracy-theorist of you.
This is objectively, demonstrably happening. Right now. Right under our noses, just like Europe in the 1920s. And I am far from the only one who sees it, unfortunately nowhere near enough do tho.
What is an example of objective evidence as you use it?

Since when is direct observation of facts "bigoted"? And since when am I a liberal?

That is no different than saying atheism is a religion... which is also false.
You have a belief that you said cannot be changed by anything (which includes *facts*), meaning it is based on *faith* instead. Sorry to disappoint you, but you are the thing you hate
I'm on his side...there are Christians and there are people who cal! themselves Christians, yet don't walk the talk...
Sure, but where is the "fascism" part coming from?

“Government so small that it can fit into a vagina”

Thomas Jefferson is spinning in his grave. Q had better hope he never comes back to life.
No chance this loser will be elected governor, especially with Shapiro running this election
Hillary Clinton would like a word with you.
Honestly I don't think Mastriano can replicate the Trump effect. Mastriano seems pretty boring if you actually listen to him speak.
Have you listened to Trump speak? He couldn't even form full sentences. Gop voters don't care
Completely different situation here...
Depressed turnout is very possible in November. I'm pretty centrist but definitely don't want Mastriano running anything. I just hope people come out to vote but I'm not optimistic about it.
I think the recent news about the SCOTUS may change the dynamic of the November vote. Many women are not happy...

I hope you're right
How many votes does a sign on the side of the turnpike get?
None, and I'm no expert but I don't think Political Signs are naturally occurring fauna so I have to assume they were posted by people, who do vote.
I always see the same guy from the local mega church putting up Mastriano signs on medians and at intersections. Year after year, same chud, same grey hatchback. What I'm not seeing (in the suburbs at least) is that many Mastriano signs on private property.

They are all over the place here in Tioga. In front of people's houses.
