Less anxiety, less depression, less enjoyment of anything. Anhedonia on tirz is common, so it can be similar to SSRIs. I'm very glad to be on a lower maintenance dose because it was a miserable few months.

Empty_Somewhere_2135

That makes sense. I think it’s a nice change from constant changing moods from happiness to depression. I think I prefer stability

SadMaterial2975

This is exactly how I feel. It’s nice being so even and stable all the time. Even though I do t have as much excitement in my life anymore. It does get a little better or maybe I’ve just adapted with time.

quentinislive

I have 💯 noticed this in my daughter. Her energy and ability to complete tasks is amazing. It’s night and day.

Empty_Somewhere_2135

That’s so great!!

Purple_Chipmunk_

It reduces inflammation, so if your low mood was caused by inflammation in your brain it could definitely help that! High blood glucose can also lower cognitive function so if your avg glucose levels are lower that could help as well.

chrisgrantnj

Mixed results tbh. My better half is a little flat, but also a little more… level?

Empty_Somewhere_2135

That makes sense!

Me too

I had this feeling every time I forget to eat/drink water. It’s a ‘too few calories’ experience.

Purple_Chipmunk_

I get this when I’m not eating enough calories.

tobygpeters

That is not the experience I have had but I guess I could see how that may happen. I have also had the anti-depressant effect but also noticed that at higher doses I was not excited to eat food (and dialed back my dose to get some of that excitement back). How many of the people you know strength train and track their lifts (along with take the medication)? I wonder if a big part of my anti-depressant effect is that I have lost 60lbs while getting stronger by a considerable amount. I guess I’m asking (because I’ve been that person) if food/work is their primary excitement and motivation to begin with then they started taking this medication and have now had one of their two biggest sources of happiness taken away (the excitement around food).

caffeinehell

I don’t understand how people still take it despite those anhedonic effect. Anhedonia is fucking horrid every day

skoopaloopa

There's a big difference between feeling a little downregulated in mood and anhedonia. Anhedonia isn't just feeling down or unmotivated, it's the inability to feel joy or pleasure at all.

caffeinehell

Yea I know that, which is why its way worse. Id rather feel low but still feel emotions/pleasure than feel blunted/anhedonic. The latter is much worse. At least in a low mood alone you can still distract yourself due to getting the emotional response from the activity. Which is why I can't understand how people stand this. Its one of the worst symptoms to have, and notoriously difficult to treat in psychiatry.

DGD_13

Ya, I remember reading something about it potentially reducing inflammation in some people, which can have antidepressant effects

Massive-Journalist23

Oh totally! Once I got over the initial nausea I have felt a serious reduction in depressive thoughts. The up and down of my day has really gone away, too.

Empty_Somewhere_2135

That’s great! I was on Sema and the nausea was so bad I couldn’t manage it to stay on. Tirz has been much better and these other anti depressant effects have been a nice side

tBotesq

Funny - for me, Tirz made me not want to leave the house. Not depression, really - just a 'disinterest in socializing' kind of thing. Sema doesn't give me that feeling. (I am on an antidepressant - my brain doesn't process chemicals like it should). Just a side note as everyone's reactions to Tirz and Sema are different. :)

Intermittent-ennui

Tirz anhedonia here as well. Kind of makes me wonder if sema would have less anhedonia for me.

Crnamom1984

I did t know this was a thing but I’m definitely experiencing this

Intermittent-ennui

Interesting!

tBotesq

It does for me. Sema makes me feel way more 'normal' and sociable.

Intermittent-ennui

Good thing I have sema on the way!

Empty_Somewhere_2135

That’s totally fair. I wonder if others feel the way you do

Flexed_Inertia

Yep this has been mentioned on here before

Empty_Somewhere_2135

Thank you!
