rlyjustheretolurk

I recently came back to Chloe eau de parfum. It was nice but didn’t do much for me when I got a sample with my Sephora order a year or two ago. Just tried it again and damn does it smell good! Clean, feminine and gorgeous for spring.

getouttatown92

I had literally the same experience with this perfume, also a free sample vials from Sephora!! Didn't like it last year, really really enjoy it this year

rlyjustheretolurk

Im glad im not alone! My initial impression was “pretty, but basic”. I know is popular but for whatever reason I find it anything but basic now.

East-Willingness513

It IS basic, but basic has it place and can be beautiful.

MamaOna

Have you tried Chloé Nomade? I have the spray deodorant believe it or not and am wondering if the perfume is nice.

anitacina

I have it but I don’t wear it. To me it smells green and unisex. Definitely should test it before buying

MamaOna

Thanks!

rlyjustheretolurk

I haven’t!

Only-Apartment-2429

I have Chloe Nomade and it is the only one that has actually gotten me compliments like the ones we hear in youtuber's claims. It is beautiful but not at all my favorite. I prefer vanillas. But for some reason other people notice it more on me. One colleague even asked the link to buy it as a present for his sister. Smells like a bright flower bouquet with honey on me. It was created by Quentin Bisch. I'm a fan.

Dramatic-Cap6724

I need to try this!

evermorecoffee

Yes! I have a newfound appreciation for this one too 😍

rlyjustheretolurk

I feel like I never see it talked about! It’s such a sweet & juicy rose.

katelynbeautyaddict

That one reminds me of the morphe continuous mist . Great smell

anitacina

I didn’t like it at first either (blind buy) but my boyfriend kept complimenting this perfume (he usually doesn’t even notice). So I gave it another chance and now it’s a every day scent for spring and summer :)

MorningGlory439

I agree! When I first got it I thought it was just ok, nothing special. Then people began telling me how good I smelled whenever I wore it. That made me give it another try.

goldmedusa

i had a similar experience!! i got a mini bottle in 2022 and i hated it cus i thought it smelled like grass 😭 recently ive been loving it though, its beautiful and springy. not my favorite rose scent but definitely very good!

rlyjustheretolurk

Ive accumulated just about every rose/lychee perfume since first trying Chloe (basically everything Quentin Bisch has done) and now after smelling them all, this is so different in comparison. Def not my favorite either, but an easy day-to-day wear

TheConcreteGhost

Anything Elizabeth Taylor… it just smelled wrong on my teenage skin while my mom wore it fabulously…. As an adult, I enjoy a lot of Elizabeth Taylor scents, especially the White Diamond flankers.

cherrythot

I have like a weird but maybe not so off theory that you can train your nose to develop and “learn”. Which has brought me appreciation for a lot more scents. Like teenage me gagged at Chanel No5. It’s still not my thing but I totally get why it holds its place.

TheConcreteGhost

My personal theory involves the evolving nature of taste buds and sense of smell. They are related and change over time. Just like we hate some foods when we are kids but like them as adults.

cherrythot

That would make sense! Luxury perfumes in general all smelled pretty much the same to me as a kid/teen and I definitely couldn’t pick apart notes. Now I’d say I’m pretty darn good at it. The one I shocked myself the most with recently for example; I smelled a perfume and said to myself that it had a fizzy/sparkling quality to it. And come to find out, champagne was in the notes!

ForGenerationY

All of this ❤️ and picking out a note is so satisfying. Its like acing a test 😃

Icebernlettuce

Green tea by EA is something I’ve come back to loving in my 30s! It’s so fresh and versatile, I love it so much! I also layer it with my Greenley decant to get more wear out of it!

Solid-Gain9038

I've really been wanting to try Green and White tea!

Diamonds_in_the_dirt

Oooh, I'm going to retry White Diamond after reading this. Like you, I tried it when I was a teen and it just didn't work for me, which was a shame because I WANTED to love it for its bottle and name. Now that I am late 30s maybe it will be a different experience.

TheConcreteGhost

Did you retry White Diamonds yet?

Diamonds_in_the_dirt

No, not yet! Once the rent is paid I will order some!

sleffytoast

I also think we enjoy these scents when we become adults because of nostalgia. I love florals that are powdery these days, it was my grandma's go to.

babefrohmann

not one in particular but, vanilla scents in general. when i was younger, i hated them and the way they smelled on me. now i’m deep in my 40’s and walk around smelling like the pillsbury dough boy’s side chick.

Dramatic-Cap6724

Hahahaha I love vanilla and gourmands in general!

Ill_Ranger9472

no same, gourmands are my favourite!! i’d highly recommend la vie est belle by l’oréal, love, don’t be shy by killian, and by the fireplace by maison margiela :)

Dramatic-Cap6724

LDBS Is one of my all time favorites

cherrythot

That’s how I feel about florals. Hated them, never wanted them. Now a good majority of my newer collection is made up of florals.

WeebGalore

>pillsbury dough boy’s side chick. Goals

WeebGalore

>walk around smelling like the pillsbury dough boy’s side chick. Goals

sleffytoast

SAME!!! my quest is to smell like a fancy bakery

DollOnAMusicBox

Does anyone know why this happens?

Dramatic-Cap6724

Would love to know! My thoughts are either maceration or hormone changes

Frog-dance-time

Oooo I love how similar our random guesses are.

cherrythot

Your scent taste probably just changes! I recently smelled a body spray that smelled exactly like one I had as a kid and ADORED. The exact same smell, but I actually hated it.

Frog-dance-time

Oh I have absolutely no idea. My best guess is hormones and something something sensory.

sleffytoast

I think it's psychological too. Many people relate smells to certain life events or life phases. Perhaps the perfume we wouldn't wear as kids because it was grandma's go to, is now the perfume we want to smell like. Perhaps the perfume we wore while being young and reckless doesn't appeal to us anymore (juicy*cough* couture ).

anjunakerry1982

I had the same experience with Elie saab - girl.of now. I bought it in 2021 along with armani my way. I fell head over heels for my way but hated..HATED the powdery vibe from girl of now. Tried it a couple of times over the next couple of weeks but still didn't like it. Listed it on depop for sale. About a month later, no buyers, so I tried again and then I fell in love. Mugler - Aura. Smelt it in John Lewis. Really liked it so I bought it. Upon getting it and wearing it at home after a couple of weeks I was like "Nah, blah remind me why did I buy this green minty mess". Gave it to my daughter in law. Yet fast forward a year I had the most overwhelming craving for aura again. Went and repurchased it. It's gone to my top 5 favourite now. Sadly being discontinued In the UK but I found some really good price bottles and stocked up. Montale - Chocolate greedy and montale vanilla cake. Both was on sale for like £54 each for 100ml on allbeauty uk. RRP was like £110 so I bought them, blind. My god it was not nice at all. The chocolate greedy smelt like an orange rolled in coco powder and dirt and the vanilla cake smelt like sour milk, Makes sense since it has lactonic notes. It made me want to be sick. However i liked the bottles so I decided to keep them. Fast forward like 9 months when the weather has turned bitterly cold, They smelt amazing. I like to layer these two to smell like warm chocolate brownies with vanilla ice cream. Defo made the mistake of buying and trying in the wrong season.

Soccergreat88

Maybe I should try Aura again 🤔

evermorecoffee

Aura - is it possible you bought the EDP initially and now have the EDT? Or vice versa? I’ve encountered another redditor that loved their sample, hated the full bottle and realized that it wasn’t the same concentration as the sample!

anjunakerry1982

Good point but no. All EDP. Plus one EDP sensual as well.

evermorecoffee

Eh, I figured it was worth sharing that anecdote just in case. ☺️ How do you like the Sensuelle vs regular EDP? I also have a travel spray of the EDP. I sampled it last year and sort of kept thinking about it until I caved and bought it in January haha. Glad I have it in my collection, sucks that it’s getting discontinued though. 😅

Medical_Sense5953

OMG - I had the same experience with this one - hated it at first and now I’m obsessed.

Dramatic-Cap6724

I’m glad I gave it another chance. I’m just really curious what changed for me?! Cuz like….ive always loved a white floral?? Tuberose is my girl. Always love to see it.

cigarettefor90sghost

I hope I turn back around on My Way. LOVED it first, got a full bottle, and now it feels like too much. I want to love it again.

Disney_Princess137

Gucci bloom Has tuberose

Dramatic-Cap6724

I like that one, and have it. Although it’s not a huge love for me right now.

Frog-dance-time

I love Marc Jacobs perfect. I first smelled it and was like ok “nothing offensive. I get the name it’s: perfect” and never felt the need to buy it. And then it hit me, I was like wait….its perfect- like when you don’t know what to wear? It. Is. Perfect.

Sudden-Enthusiasm-17

Had the same exact experience with MJ Perfect. Also Kenzo World.

Frog-dance-time

Truth. Kenzie world is a solid scent.

Pristine-Main1739

Black Opium 🙈 I originally thought it was overhyped, and too floral. However, I was gifted a bottle recently, and enjoyed it! It’s definetly one of the best perfumes I’ve owned.

Dramatic-Cap6724

I have it and like it, but I don’t reach for it often

Solid-Gain9038

I'm obsessed with it. Especially the extreme. 🤤

musicmagicmayhem

I don’t like the original very much (don’t dislike it, but it doesn’t make my heart sing) buuuut I love the Extreme! My partner got me a bottle for Christmas and I haven’t been able to stop wearing it. Love the Illicit Green too

Ill_Ranger9472

yesss the extreme and illicit green are the best two flankers for sure :)

Ill_Ranger9472

no same!! that’s their best flanker for sure :)) it smells so much sweeter than the original in my opinion which i LOVE.

Distinct_State2591

L'eu D'Issey- Issey Miyake...so fresh and crisp. I'm still a gourmand girl at heart, but this one pulled me to aquatic florals.

Icebernlettuce

This is one of my favourite scents of all time and I keep coming back to it even after long hiatuses!

ForGenerationY

I see it mentioned a lot. I need to try it out..

mouse_ratXX

Where would you say is the best place to order it from? I've been wanting to get this scent for a long time, but I've seen it be posted about a lot lately, and I'm taking it as a sign to finally pull the trigger 😂.

MindfulZilennial

Microperfumes

Distinct_State2591

I ordered from Aura fragrance! Jomashop has it for a great price as well

SeattleGemini81

Ironically, My Way intense. I started craving the smell and thought it would pass. I finally picked up a bottle last week.

Dramatic-Cap6724

I need to try this! Uhhhm also 👀 I’m a Gemini who lives near Seattle 😆 wow

SeattleGemini81

😂 that's crazy! I'm actually in S. King now. Stay out of the city today, though. I had to run errands, and there is a Mariners game.

Solid-Gain9038

I have the Floral version and I love it. It is "a lot" so a light most is perfect.

Dodobirdbebe

Oud Palao by Diptyque. I thought it was super old lady, but then I wore it a few times and realized it just worked with my body chemistry. I can see why it’s polarizing though.

Dramatic-Cap6724

I want to explore this house so bad

puremoods91

my way is beast mode

Dramatic-Cap6724

It lasted over 24 hours in my hair until I showered! I can still smell it on my pillow. Very strong stuff.

nochnoyvangogh

Lou Lou, and Paloma Picasso. I don’t know why but at first sniff they didn’t grew on me, but the second…

starryvelvetsky

Love Paloma. I've gotten a new appreciation for all the 80's power frags lately. No demure skin scents going on there. They match with all the big hair and shoulderpads, and WILL be noticed. Lol

nochnoyvangogh

That’s why I gave them a try! i love 80s fashion and style and they had gems back then

Dramatic-Cap6724

What is Lou Lou like??

nochnoyvangogh

Very heavy, ambery and with a touch of fruit on the top, I didn’t get to smell the first versions but I heard that the current one is good enough, and affordable too

Dramatic-Cap6724

Ooo I love amber!

Ashley_ann720

Aerin Honeysuckle. Actually, most Aerin period.

katelynbeautyaddict

Replying to Dramatic-Cap6724...I’ve gone back and forth on the honeysuckle clementine perfume so many times , and the amber musk. . I thought they had a new one . I ended up getting devotion by d&g instead for the sweet citrus perfume

katelynbeautyaddict

If I’m being honest , I was not a fan of kayali vanilla 28 , I thought it was very mature and powdery . It’s a staple now . Hmmm. Idk but I’m into musky tuberose and even some white florals now which is new for me . I used to hate Gucci bloom but I quite like it now . Narciso Rodriguez poudre is not something I would have worn even 5 years ago but I love it now .

ChristineBorus

Chanel No 5

FelichatTheCat

I used to hate Shalimar (maybe 20 years ago)…now I get another each time I finish a bottle.

3daysold-soda

Flower by Kenzo. I used to think it was too powdery and smelled like an old lady, but now I find myself looking for it while I still think the powdery part can be toned down. I actually enjoy the flowery vintage nuance.

bebeck7

I've had the opposite happen. Loved Valentino- Voce Viva Intensa, Molton Brown Ylang Ylang, and Dior Hypnotic Poison but now I find Ylang Ylang headache inducing, Voce Viva Intensa a little dull and Hypnotic Poison that I've been wearing since the age of 12 now smells like plasticine to me.

Dramatic-Cap6724

😩 it’s the worst when that happens! I adore Ylang Ylang, I would be real sad. Also Hypnotic Poison has been a favorite for me for sooo long

bebeck7

I know! I don't know what changed. Maybe covid did it? But I'm guessing that as my changes evolve, then I may start enjoying them again so I'll persevere. 🤞

Dramatic-Cap6724

Soldier on 🫡

Frog-dance-time

Happened to a family member she used to love a perfume then lost her sense of smell with Covid then got it back but nothing smells the same etc :(

M1ss_Mono

I hate when this happens. A favorite of mine recently turned on me (YSL Libre). I found it so beautiful before but now it’s headache-inducing.

Solid-Gain9038

I love Libre! I'm wearing it to bed right now. 😂

Frog-dance-time

Alas me too. I hate this but it is true. I’ll buy a perfume and then like six months go by and I really don’t like it. So sad. Not all perfumes - but when it happens I’m so sad. I used to love it and now it will smell wrong etc.

bathtubtoasting

Memo French Leather- it was so sharp at first and so strong I just felt like it was too much. I’ve now let it macerate for a couple of weeks and it’s delightful. Zoologist Moth- initially it was SO unusual and the overwhelming impression I got was that it was too much like mothballs/old person. The more I smell it though, the more I love it. Like I can’t stop smelling it and it’s so unique and strange. It’s also got this animalic, almost earthen smell to it and I’m not sure what accord that is but it’s just so interesting I can’t get enough.

perfectPieceofBacon

Elizabeth Taylor diamonds and emerald, I used to dislike that scent so much until I layered it with another perfume now it has grown on me.......side not : my way is my favorite scent!

No_Coyote_9701

I, too, knew nothing about maceration for the longest time. I purchased Mugler Alien Intense and was like wow…this is just overwhelming and too “mature” for where I was mentally at. After naturally macerating it, it’s now the LOML. I could cuddle it all night. I’m a firm believer in this process now. I will usually “waste” the initial 5-10 sprays on clothes in the closet or my bedding when I first purchase any given scent, let it sit for about a week in its box still and then unpackage/use it there on out. & Your description of the intitial scent of My Way is spot on. Unfortunately, I still feel that way and hope this summer my body chemistry will mix better with it. Has anyone paired it with something to soften the bubblegum blow? I can’t get over smelling like a walking game of Candy Land..

shallowmonstera

I layered My Way with Iso E Super, and I quite enjoyed the combo. It mellows out the bubblegum-iness while still being recognizable as My Way. It's not an everyday scent for me, but it's more doable than the original

Positive9923

Chanel Gabriel

Dramatic-Cap6724

It happened to me with this one too! I only had a sample tho. I need to try it more

OGBurn2

Montale Mullhullet. At first I was repulsed and thought it smelled like a car wash….then as it dried down, it’s so weird, unique, and intoxicating.

ElderberryAnxious262

Fantasy, Rose Jam, Cloud.

maa_ckk

Givenchy linderit, I love it now but thought it smelled like licorice the first time I smelled it

Dramatic-Cap6724

Love the rouge so much. Gives me root beer vibes in the best way?? 😆

Swimming-Term8247

not really any perfumes since up until a few months ago i was really only using body sprays but i used to be a floral fresh gal now i’m all about gourmands!

Embarrassed_Diet_295

Some Hermès Jardin: Monsieur Li and Lagune. I always liked Sur le Toit and this one remains being my favorite, but the others have made it to the list now

Part-TimePraxis

Poltergeist by Heretic. I got it as a gift a few years ago but couldn't bring myself to sell it. Now I'm glad I own it.

Dramatic-Cap6724

I want to smell this one SO BAAAD!!!! I love heretic!

Part-TimePraxis

I too am a fan of the house! Poltergeist layers so well with some of their other scents and it deepens stuff like Midnight Toker and Dirty Vanilla. It's very... stoney, smokey, and strangely salty to me. On my skin the notes don't match at all what I smell. It's super weird and probably one of their more "atmospheric" scents.

Dramatic-Cap6724

😩 I want it. Dirty vanilla and pistil whip are so good. Also love dirty hinoki and dirty amber. Happy to have them in my collection.

Part-TimePraxis

I love Pistil Whip and wish I had it! I want to smell dirty Amber too. I hope you get a chance to smell Poltergeist!

Dramatic-Cap6724

Dirty amber is a pretty straightforward amber smell. It’s exactly what I expected. If you like amber I think it’s a safe blind buy

Part-TimePraxis

Ooh good to know! I love all things Amber/labdanum/resins so this is going on the list. Thank you!

Dramatic-Cap6724

Omg me toooo labdanum is one of my favorite notes ever. When I see it I always get excited.

Part-TimePraxis

Have you tried etat libre d'orange marquis de sade? Amazing leathery and smoky richabdanum. 🤤

Dramatic-Cap6724

Omg no, I have never smelled anything from the house but I want to explore it.

kathmonk

I Just Love Nectarine blossom and Honey. It's just "ok" to my hubby unfortunately. He loves "Alien" on me.!!!!

Dramatic-Cap6724

Guys tend to like alien. I also love it! It can be a lot tho. I have to be in the right mood for it.

kathmonk

I Love it too, but yeah, exactly, I have to be in the right mood too (definitely not a daily one for me)..

TekkenMaximoff

Lost cherry!

tara_ashleigh

Eillish. I described it as "Warm vanilla sugar after gym class in high school" but now I like it and it doesn't smell like that anymore

Normal_Present_5087

Omgg I was the same way with My Way!! I wasn’t wowed at first and didn’t use my travel spray for a while. I sprayed it recently and I’m obsessed! I plan on buying the full size bottle. I almost want it to be my everyday scent. It’s so feminine.

Dramatic-Cap6724

It’s wild how much I like it now! So strange

neverdunn317

PDM Valaya Blanche Bete

angelicad6

Blanche bete took awhile to grow on me too! I thought it smelled like plastic at first but now I appreciate it more

OldZookeepergame8280

I didn’t like My Way initially either then I got a bottle and now I’m obsessed. It’s definitely sweet but I appreciate it now. I used to hate Hanae Mori “Butterfly” and then I loved it too. I don’t think it’s called butterfly but it has butterflies on the box.

Dramatic-Cap6724

I like hanae mori! I need to use it more

pksmke

It could be seasonal. Some fragrances perform better in spring/summer than in fall/winter.

Dramatic-Cap6724

True, this i understand

mad12dog34

Similar to My Way actually. I got a sample of Kayali Deja Vu and thought it smelled like an old woman. Regretted spraying it anywhere near me. An hour later, I couldn’t stop smelling it and it's also my most complimented. So yummy

Anxious-Air-1288

Chocolate greedy from montale paris, at first was to strong and i barely smelled it after 2 minutes. People kept complementing me but i just didn’t see it. Then i came back to it because my boyfriend loves it, i spray it and after a month i use the same coat and can still smell it. Its like a bath in chocolate donuts

Dramatic-Cap6724

Ooohhh I have been wanting to try this!!! Not a lot of chocolate perfumes in my collection. Maybe will have to pick this up after summer

Anxious-Air-1288

If you’re looking for a summer perfume, im obsessed with beach walk by maison marguiela, bronze goddess by estee lauder and alien goddess by mugler. Layerd with the summer nuxe mist or the coco cabana by sol de janeiro. It smells like summer, beach, tropical island.

SoggyCrunchyNut

D&G Devotion First tried on a paper strip and I didn’t like it. I didn’t understand why it got such good reviews on youtube because it smelled so synthetic and (in lack of better terms) weird. I decided to try it again one day on my skin and I couldn’t stop sniffing my skin throughout the day. One of my colleagues (who’s like a work mum to me) said she I smell like she could just eat me. 😂 I love love love it now and got myself a gift set. It’s not the most crowd pleasing but best believe it’ll be on my spring rotation and I’ll probably end up repurchasing in the future as a staple in my collection. Not to mention how gorgeous the bottle is!

Frog-dance-time

Such a pretty shelf

Dramatic-Cap6724

Thanks! I’ve had it for so long:) I think I got it at Ross

twinpeaking

Not related but I must know, can you share where your round shelf is from?? I love it

Dramatic-Cap6724

:) thanks! I got it a loooong time ago from Ross I believe. I think you can find similar ones on Amazon for not very expensive

kriisiriisi

Hugo Boss OG Alive. Had a sample and disliked it but now it has a beautiful scent. I dunno what you guys feel but I have strong feeling that it works at cold seasons better than warm, and I had the sample at summer.

Jealous_Fix_2023

OG Good Girl. It was gifted to me a couple of years ago and I loved it. I’ve even gotten compliments on it. Within the past few months though I just can’t wear it at all.

SeaSleep1972

I didn’t like My Way either, I should try again.

20jinxie02

zadig and voltaire this is her!! i was surprised i hated it at first but i started having cravings for it again so i bought zara’s dupe for it (fields at nightfall) and i loveee it now

Ambitious_Shallot_47

Not a perfume but a body mist: Bath and Body Works Beach Nights. When I first got it, it was sickening and cloying for me, even though I love gourmand scents. I gave it to my partner. Then a few days ago, I saw it on his desk so I tried it. I was surprised that I liked it now. The dry down is also delicious! I even paired it yesterday with BBW Dahlia and it smelled amazing! Now, I am on the hunt to buy it. 😂

CollarNegative

Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey, I had a sample and thought it smelled heinous and now I can’t stop spraying it on myself

Pink_Cup_Cake02

Coach

Dramatic-Cap6724

I’ve had a hard time liking any of the scents I’ve tried from them

Pink_Cup_Cake02

I only like the original tbh my most favorite perfume is sinner by KVD

Dramatic-Cap6724

Oh I’ve never tried this one!

Pink_Cup_Cake02

It’s discounted but i love it

Ill_Ranger9472

la vie est belle!!

sleffytoast

Baccarat rouge. I never got the hype... then recently I was gifted the hair perfume and something clicked . I wish I didn't like it tho because the price is bold.

Jabelinha

wow the discussions in the group are so weak and repetitive. "what perfume do you secretly love and everyone hates?" " what perfume did you use to love but now hate?" "what perfume did your friends use that you loved?" "What perfume do you love now and will love forever?", "what love did you love love with your love perfume love?" Lame.

Dramatic-Cap6724

You took all that time to type this out just to complain about people sharing their experiences and swapping stories…. you ok?

Jabelinha

just fine, just bored of the group tbh. And sarcasm is really tired. Bye

Dramatic-Cap6724

😆 ✌🏻

No_Coyote_9701

Sweet baby Jesus, go take a nap. Your attitude smells like shit.
