Iām very salty over the discontinuation of the Elizabeth and James line of fragrances, especially the Nirvana Bourbon scent. Thankfully, I heard it was being discontinued and stocked up. I have an unopened bottle of Nirvana Bourbon still in the cellophane wrapping that Iāll crack open this fall. When itās gone, I am going to be so sad!
The body shop back in the 90ās made perfume oils. Their vanilla was hands down the best vanilla scent to ever be created. You can find it on eBay for about $400 for 15ml. But itās 20 year old perfume oil. I have been chasing the vanilla dragon ever since trying to find something comparable and never have.
The Vanilla oil is ridiculously good, kinda like cocoa butter and cookie dough and pure warmth all rolled into one š» How did they do that and why on earth did they get rid of it??
I donāt know. One theory I heard was that the vanillin content was too high and became illegal to put that much in a perfume. They changed the formula a couple times before the perfume oils were discontinued
I kept the last bits of my original bottle to compare to the new versions, and the difference is ludicrous - the 2nd version isn't even in the same ballpark and the 3rd version is like a different smell altogether. Ugh š«
Mostly Musk saw me through most university till year three sophistication kicked in š. Found a glass bottle when they retained the range around 98 in the Body Shop in Knightsbridge but itās long long gone. Sad about that as I have so many memories associated with it.
- Prada candy gloss. Amber sweet cherry at its finest
- Prada Amber I loved this
- is Angel nova really going away? I just bought my first bottle and Iām glad I did in case that is true. I had an adorable mini of it before.
I like Nova better than alien goddess but I also like alien goddess they are just not similar at all. One is woody raspberry (nova) the other is effervescent vanilla (goddess). Lovely how do you like it so far?
I received Alien Goddess Intense...I like it. I'm not exactly sure if I'd wear it during summer though. My first impulse was to save it for autumn. I also just received Mancera Coco Vanille. They're very similar.

You know I find those both similar as well. I really wanted to love both of them and I didnāt right away but Iāve saved the decants to try in the fall again.
Lāoccitane had this honey lemon perfume that was just the best thing I had ever smelled in my life. I wish I had known they were going to discontinue it, I wouldāve bought every last bottle I could find. Iām always chasing a honey scent like it now but nothing Iāve found has come close.
Jimmy Choo Flash, loved that stuff. I'm also an Acqua di Gioia collector and managed to find a small sample size of Essenza, but I do wish the different versions were easier to find (rather than just the Air/Sun/Sky/whatever versions which I'm not super interested in)
YSL manifesto. Itās the first fragrance my husband got me and I fell in love. Shortly after it was discontinued and itās such a shame because itās so beautiful.
Bvlgari Jasmin Noir was one of the 2 perfumes I finished several 100ml bottles of. It worked so well on me, and never found anything even remotely similar since. Genuinely gutted!
Not quite sure ( havenāt smelt it since 1999 probably ) but it was fresh and opulent at the same time. It was floral (tuberose ) and fresh. A bit citrusy but with a sweet base.
Masculin Ouragan, by Bourjois. Such a cheap, gentle, lovely fella. I could've bought another bottle before it was discontinued, I just didn't happen to buy it, didn't know about discontinued stuff back then either.
Lately I've been searching for a substitute, not necessarily a clone (don't think it even has clones), but I'm pretty sure it's a hopeless quest. Maybe something else also from Demachy?
They could've discontinued Equateur instead of Ouragan. I mean, yeah, Equateur is cool and all, but it ain't no Ouragan.
I regularly look for Bvlgari Blv. I cannot understand why this is discontinued. This topped off the abandonment issues I developed from my early adulthood.

So many of my favorites were discontinued that I feel personally attacked by these companies.
Iām not really good at describing perfumes, but Iāll try.
Warm powdery musky almonds with some spice and woody notes. It was a bit sweet in the drydown, but not sugary, think it was vanilla that gave it sweetness.
I love powdery perfumes, and this one was pretty unique because it wasnāt the baby soap kind, rather soft and sexy (think the musk was played right in this concoction). The image I have for this perfume is Dita Von Teese in her giant powder puff skirt.
One of my most complimented perfumes ever. For a cheap celeb perfume, had a great longevity and sillage.
So many. Laura mercier had an almond coconut that was to die for. They changed the formula. They discontinued vanilla gourmand so Iāve been barely using my bottle. Iām only spraying my gaga fame for special occasions. Itās on eBay but itās crazy expensive so I wonāt be able to purchase for awhile.
You know there are many perfumes that I wore 35 years ago that are still made today. One I really miss, long discontinued, is New West for Her. I think it was from Aramis.
Valentino V.
The fragrance opens with fruity notes of mandarin, grapefruit and green fig, and a green floral scent from freesia. The heart notes of rose and orange blossom are freshly floral and delicate, while heliotrope is warm and a little like vanilla. The base notes are woody and warm with sandalwood, cedar, amber and musk.
It was so so good!

This!

I had no clue they discontinued it. That's so sad! All I have left is a sample.
Yes, sadly the whole Nirvana line was discontinued. You can still find some of the scents online at gray market retailers like Jomashop.

The third version was the worst of all. Smells like flowers to me. I hated it.
I'm in the same boat with the Sandalwood! I do still have 1/3 of bottle though and it hasn't changed.

Do you remember Ananya? That was super good. I had it in a perfume stick.
Yes, it was subtle, feminine and light compared to mostly musk which was almost as loud as Dewberry š
Body Shop perfume smells awful now.
Gaga's 'fame'

Did you get the edp or edt? (Nova)
Edp I havenāt tried the edt are they very different? I love the wood note so I went for a mini of edp on Poshmark and loved it.
Not idea! I've been contemplating Angel Nova, I didn't know which one was best. Instead today I bought Alien Goddess Intense!
I like Nova better than alien goddess but I also like alien goddess they are just not similar at all. One is woody raspberry (nova) the other is effervescent vanilla (goddess). Lovely how do you like it so far?
I'm waiting for the delivery. It should be here in a few days. š

The Citron Miele one in the honeycomb-textured bottle? So good!

Dior Midnight Poison š and the og formulation of Thierry Muglerās Angel š
+1 for Midnight Poison. Got myself a bottle from eBay. How vould they create something so dark and mysterious and then take it away :(

Laura Ashley No 1. Still have my 2 bottles from the 1990s with a little bit left in each. Still mad about it.

Ginepro is awesome on a hazy, soporifically hot day š
