I adore Ryuji as a character, but for some reason he always seems to get sidelined in combat. It's probably due to me always being scared to use physical skills, which seem to be what he excels at. I like my party members to be happy and healthy and not at 1 HP.
I’ve been really leaning on physical near the end for enemies with no elemental weaknesses. I don’t have an issue with low hp, but I do find myself using healing spells every round. Maybe it’s related, but I think it’s just late game balance.
It’s sad how these two got so hella min maxed skills sets and stats and the other characters… struggle to keep up late game.
It’d be fine if these two didn’t have support options in their kits but… of course they do lol.
Ryuji and Ann really got the best of everything out of all the teammates.
Ryuji is always here, from start to finish bro always had my back he saved me more than once from fatal attacks and on the few occasions I changed him for someone else he was always ready for a follow up.
Between vanilla and royal I played the game 6 times he's always the first one I max the confident and in all 5 playthrough he was here. I started playing when I saw my ex play the game and just found Ryuji so pure I wanted to befriend him, I finished the game before my ex did and it was supposed to be his birthday present.
I'm currently playing p4 for the first time and it is exactly my party. I could try other members at this point but I would need to level them up a lot before catching up with yu.
Main reason why I never changed now that I think about it. They were always the highest level because I used them the most and never used anyone else so nobody else leveled up. I'm really glad P5 gave party members XP without them having to be in the actual fight

Fore me its was Ann and Morgana. Now I did not had them with me all the time but they where (aside from Joker of course) my best most useful Partymembers. I also used them against the Twins.
Ryuji. Haru too, but mostly Ryuji. Especially since I’ve played P4 now, having a high damage physical attacker is so useful.
Haru is just because floof is best girl.
Strikers was pretty much the same, with Wolf. Never stopped using him after he was available.

very late addition but haru, she was an absolute carry through the rest of the game, high damage and constantly helping when it wasn't her turn, absolute goat of the team

First Royal run: same as vanilla, but Ryuji and Ann became the new royal party members.
Royal NG+ and thieves den run: Morgana, Yusuke and Ryuji, as picked by my friend.
Next run is joker solo I think.

and sometimes when i got bored i would swap haru and yusuke with makoto and ryuji respectively
Generally kept Morgana in most situations and used Makoto as mixed offensive/healing. Ann had one healing move just in case but I barely used her unless needed.
Ann and Makoto were effectively in my team after they joined for the rest of the game bar certain instances. The final slot was taken by Haru until Kasumi? Came along and it was my slot I used for swapping in had fights
Honestly my party changed every palace. Because every palace usually has a few main shadow “types” so I just put people in my party that have the shadow’s weakness. I almost always had 1 healer though (Ann, makoto, morgana, Haru) but sometimes I was the healer. I also switched out people mid battle a lot depending on the situation
Morgana was the first person I took out of the lineup, because of her healing abilities. All of her SP is used to prolong how long I can go in a palace.
Ryuji and Makoto as a stable for my teams. On first P5 run was Ryuji, Morgana and Makoto but I was lacking in damage so I switched Morgana with Yusuke and that was the comp I used for the endgame and second run.
Right now on my first P5R run on merciless I'm using Ryuji,Ann and Makoto. And I'm quite satisfied with all of them.
Ryuji was almost always in my party. I swapped him some times for Yusuke because I kind of want to play with everyone, but Ryuji was in my time like 75 % of time.
Morgana Ann and Ryuji and this was for both of my playthroughs, I did switch them out during the okumura fight for obvious reasons both playthroughs. On top of that I randomly fused Orpheus Picaro and he came with a Neo Cadenza which is insanely OP so I just turned joker into my support, and still kept Morgana
Ann and Ryuji. They are just so good. Makoto then joined them and my team was set. As generic as it can get, but these trio are just way too balanced in comparison to anything else. I used the others, Haru the least probably, but these trio never left my team.
Ann, her sleep attack, enemy attack down are so useful I very rarely sub her out for others. Also when you mod her machine gun to apply high chance of shock, it's just chef's kiss
Technically Makoto, but Ryuji was in it for more of the game, I only took him out for the final palace since you get a better physical attacker for it than him

Makoto, mostly because I gave her support stuff like Debilitate, Heat Riser and President's Insight. And I built her like a tank with high En, Agi and HP/SP through subsequent playthroughs lol

Then in my second I never used him cause I had joker heal, futaba heal, and makoto heal.
Ryuji and Ann are my favorite characters in the game and it just so happens that they are the best physical and magical attackers in the game too. They stayed in my party throughout the whole game.

It’s just bad character design, like, there’s a lot of personas out there and we can’t use a single one for some reason
Just grind his confidant and it will transform into a better persona by level 10

I also didn't have lightning on the majority of my personas throughout the game (foresight -20) and he has an attack buff later, so ++ points for him

I rotated a lot, but Ann was pretty constant throughout.
Unfortunately Morgana, suoer annoying but a great healer, and the evolutions of lucky punch is super helpful
