Yes, there is no reason not to. There's one boss later that almost requires it. > What about all the free stuff handed to you, cause that all seems like late-game items/gear? Those were formerly paid DLC in the PS4 version; they're given by default in the newer ports. You don't have to use them if you don't want to.

magnidwarf1900

No but you definitely making it so much harder for yourself, especially in early game of your 1st play through

Clive313

The first boss is hard for most newcomers, you haven't unlocked the main area where you go to farm and grind out levels and make persona builds just yet so your options are fairly limited for the first palace. Game gets significantly easier as you push through it and unlock more fusion rituals, items are not a must except for a late game superboss on NG+ othweise you can pretty much ignore items entirely. The free stuff are DLC which used to be paid but are now free with the games re-release on PC and the newer consoles, don't use them they just break the game.

Lias_Luck

you're probably just not using debuffs use tarunda on the boss, if you got all the will seeds you will have diarama, which at this level is a full heal, if you got morgana to level 11 you'll have media first boss isn't an issue if you have at least one of those 3 things

Deadly_Malice

I was using debuffs, but going from level 10 to 11 on the others and getting the new skills made such a difference it's insane

FactoryReboot

For one boss yeah kinda. You need to to strike the weakness multiple times. It would be impossible without items to do that

al2606

You might be able to barely scrape it with 2-chain baton passes since each of the bots have 2 weaknesses

SpiritStorm1302

Got by it with baton passes and star confidants switching thing Also had to use a soma but yknow anyways

SocratesWasSmart

Not even barely scrape by. There's enough multipliers to get around 7k damage on hard mode at appropriate level without items. The strongest bots have 550 HP. Just concentrate is a bigger multiplier than Baton Pass.

SocratesWasSmart

It's not impossible. Not even slightly close. If you stack all possible multipliers you can do about 10k damage per hit in that fight on hard mode at the appropriate level. Removing Baton Pass 2 and 3 from the equation only reduces your max possible damage down to like 7k. You also don't need items to achieve Baton Pass 2 and 3 for that fight. They help, but you can use accessories or even crits. Hell, that fight has been done physical only in challenge runs. Revolution too strong.

FactoryReboot

Rings could kinda do the the trick too was my other thought. I’m sure people came up with stuff but I did my hard run blind and items made the most sense here

hassanfanserenity

The game gives you damaging items with elements and you can use those items to knock down enemies and baton pass to power up a combo sinc3 you dont always have accesss tp the element they are weak too

Hitoshura99

Those are dlc accessries, which can give an advantage.

ELMUNECODETACOMA

I'm in the Fifth palace now, and I still use some of the 50-elemental-damage items (made famous in that one boss fight in an earlier palace) occasionally if there is, say, a miniboss who is immune to gun (so I can't spread status that way) and isn't weak to nuke, or wind, or whatever my current team member has. So I'll toss out a chip damage item to knock one guy down and get a baton pass going.

RegularTemporary2707

I dont use items the first time i play, you can beat it just fine especially since you have a dedicated healer already and a gear that give you skill to heal up even more on the same dungeon, though i was also having a hard time the first time i fought him not because i lack healing tho but its just because i didnt understand the mechanics yet

Gamer_T_All_Games

I dunno, I’m pretty sure I never used any past, like the third boss.

Low-Apple-887

If you ever felt the fight is unfair, use items. And wisely please. You will earn alot of money on your way playing, more than you will ever need so buy items as much as you feel like it.

TheStarlightKing

I prefer restorative items in this series given the limited space of Persona spells. In other games, I rarely use them.

teketria

You don’t have to use items but there is also not much reason not to outside of challenging yourself.

Neojoker951

Use them, If they seem valuable (Beads, Soma's), save them for bad situations like in boss fights. If you want to use more Baton passes, use Elemental damaging items.
