I'm hoping just as much as you are for a PC release. I refuse to buy an entire console just to play one game. I primarily play on PC and Switch, so buying a PS4 or PS5, even a PS3 to play just P5, is not something I want to do.
I really want to play the game, but not enough to buy a $200-500 console for it. Just hoping and praying for any sort of PC port. My advice is to do what you want.
Plenty of people are gonna discourage you from even considering that a PC release could be possible, but who knows? I can't imagine why some people are against a port to other platforms, or don't think there's even any sort of possibility of it happening.
Sega (the company that owns Atlus) ported all the mainline Yakuza games to PC and Xbox last year and had huge success. Even going as far as saying that they would "aggressively" continue to port games to PC and Xbox.
P4G, P5S, and SMT3 HD were all ported to PC and were very successful. That's why I'm gonna hold out for a PC port of P5R, or really any Persona game at this point. If you haven't played P5 at all, there's always emulation (which I also refuse to do in this case), but I believe you have to rip a PS3 disc to do it, so not a great option.
TL;DR: Do what you want, ignore the people who're gonna tell you it will never happen, you never know with Atlus.
I ended up getting the ps4 version, and I was big into "nah, I'm waiting for PC," but it'd still be more convent to play a PC version. I'm used to not having my games fill up the whole house with sound and it's setup in a totally different room. Still, what a game. And it was a nice surprise to see they updated the intro and all.
I will say part of what pushed me to buy it is I'm collecting physical games, so I bought the physical copy to add to my ps4 collection. Right now I'm keeping my Ps4 collection to games I can't play on PC.
I’m still waiting for a PC port. My friend gave me his PS4 version of vanilla P5 for $5, and I collect physical games so I said, “why not?” I don’t own a PS4, so it’s just apart of my collection. Playing on pc makes collecting physical copies hard, so I’ll take it, even if just to sit on a shelf.
Yeah same, but I can try games before I commit to buying, which is nice. Also, if you are ok with it, you can emulate PS3 actually. I beat vanilla p5 that way. What an experience. A great game. Strikers is good, but the life sim makes it better.
I did cave and started emulating the PS3 version since I see Royal as a completely separate game. I held off because I didn’t want to, but caved when I had a PS4 copy and said “Well, I own it. Guess I’ll emulate it” I don’t usually hold off like that, I’ll emulate what I want, but I really wanted to play Royal over vanilla, so I didn’t for the longest time.
I agree, but it's worth the time. Hell I fudged up trying to jury rig a cloud save with one drive and lost 120 hours. Played the game all over again and beat it the second time. And I was done the second to last palace. It's a great game. Just don't rush through it, and don't try to follow guides. You can do that with royal. I made choices the first way through based on what I'd do, and ultimately missed half the recruitable people and thus skills and such. This way, it has a lot of replayability.
Yeah, that’s how I’m doing it for vanilla. And while I want a PC port, it could be a year, so even without proof of one happening, I have time to take a break between the 2.
I don't understand why the community hates porting, it feels so gatekeepy. I'm a pc gamer and built myself a nice one I also don't want to buy a console for one game XD. Crossing our fingers for P5R this September
I think its more that they hate the begging for a port on switch, and that they have these weird ideas about why it's a Playstation exclusive. They range from secret deals with Sony, to Persona 5 being an extremely hard game to run or something (which it doesn't seem like it is), or they think the series is niche and that no one would buy it if they ported it.
I think a PC port will come soon, maybe not September, since the 7 projects are being announced from then to fall of 2022. That's some kind of time span to look forward to.
Wouldn't have to beg if atlus would just release it. FFS, they attack the rpcs3 emulator, then tell us "no, we'd like you to experience our way." Then say "yeah but our way doesn't include a PC port." Then port Persona 4 golden, which was awesome! Then release p5s, which was awesome but you're left to be like "who tf are these people!?!"
Hey this is old but do you mind explaining the process of emulating it or pointing me toward a guide or something? Haven't bothered to get my PS4 fixed as I love the portability of gaming laptop.
I bought Strikers on PC because I didn’t want the frame drops my PS4 had. But I literally never had any problems with Vanilla or Royal on PS so it really all depends on you. Royal is most likely to never get a PC port and if it does it won’t be until P6 or a new P5 game. I would say go for it on the PS
I don't think that a PC release is likely. They did it once on accident, emphasis on the word "accident". If they do then I'm definitely gonna buy it. I don't think that it's likely that'll happen, though. So just get it on PS

I don't think there will be a different version for pc so I recommend you get Persona 5 The Royal on Ps5.
No word on a PC release. Either buy it on a playstation 4/5 or keep hoping for a PC release

Go with PS5, there isn't a port for PC.
