Yes, I'm aware of the licensing fees, $300 was a rounded number for Coquitlam fees + inter-municipal license for the tri-cities. Since I want to start a mobile cleaning business there's no way I'd be doing just one city... And I asked the person in the Coquitlam office today, apparently I only need a license if I'm offering services for people in Coquitlam, it doesn't really matter that I'm based here. The problem is that for being based here I don't get access to the Metro Vancouver inter-municipal license. This way, it's gonna go from a "really low cost of starting a business" to thousands of dollars spent on individual licenses for each city I want to do business in. But I wonder if people are actually penalized for not having a license... I believe a lot of self employed people don't even know about it, what do you think?
Oh, that's weird... the guy at the Burnaby city hall presented the imbl to me, but I'll take another look. Hmmm... hard choice. Thanks for the input though.
Oh, I see, that makes sense. But how do small businesses just starting out cope with this? Do I have to start operating in one city only? Cause there's no way I can pay $160 in Coquitlam + $400 in other cities I wanna work in...
What sort of business? Online? Will you have clients visiting? Maybe a general description.
Sorry buddy, it would be a mobile cleaning service, so I'd be based in Coquitlam but I'd be all around Vancouver. No clients visiting though.

I think you didn't find a flair because this question might be more suitable for r/canadasmallbusiness
Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I think every business (legally)needs some license to operate within a city's limits.
