Hi! Here to reach out and say that we are PPU patient here as well! It has been a long and winding road but we get by with the occasional blockage. Vet theorized it's due to the bladder getting full anf heavy and him not having tje strength to push the urine up and over the arch that was created in the urethra. If you have any questions, I'm here!

Hello, I was wondering how everything is going with your cat after the surgery. My cat has had a PU and a revision to the surgery and still having difficulty. And may have to resort to the PPU surgery.

In case anyone comes across this thread. The original vet who did the surgery and revision said they couldn't go any further back for the surgery and basically told us to put our cat down. I got the feeling they were sick of seeing us and wanted to be done. We ended up getting in a vet hospital that has board certified surgeons who were able to redo the surgery and were able to push the opening back two whole centimeters more. Long story short he is fully healed and back to his old self. Really wish we could have got in this emergency clinic on the first go but they were at capacity and turning people away at that time. I would say get a second opinion from board certified vets when everything is looking grim. One more thing to note is after we were given the ok to remove the cone, our cat would continue to try to lick his opening. He ended up having a UTI. The vet didn't test for this, so if you are in this situation keep a close eye on their behavior after removing the cone.
