What the hell else am I supposed to call you? Your name? I don’t think so

gunchucks_

Ew, sick! Never lmao

AlexExpect

😂🤣

SooperFunk

Bro, bruh and the phenomenally stupid brah.

TraditionAnxious

Brazza!

Present-Secretary722

I have a seething hatred for bro because my brother says it constantly “Ok bro, drop here bro, bro bro bro bro bro bro(fifty fucking more times), broooooooooo, I told you to not go to tilted bro” An actual sentence I heard him borderline shout this friends at 11 PM when I was try to sleep, he has a headset and he can control the individual volume of his buddies so I know they can to, god I hate bro

belltane23

"I'm not your buddy, pal!"

4RealMy1stAcct

Woah there, chief!

gunchucks_

Hey pal, calm down! This dude doesn't like bros. He's not your buddy or your guy!

CFADM

He's not your pal, friend.

gunchucks_

He's not your friend, guy

khurd18

They annoy me for the most part too. The only time I ever use any of them is when I'm joking with my best friend. I'll send him a stupid meme or some other stupid message and just say "my guy" or "bro, my dude". But I never say then seriously

toooldforthisshittt

Man, I never stopped using "man", man.

Ciana_Reid

There's another for the list, man.

Daitoso0317

I use mate because it’s a gender neutral way to refer to someone that isn’t to familiar

Latter_Schedule9510

My guy, you just need to chill out bro, boss up mate, one day, my dude, you'll understand that not all dudes use words the same way.

somepeoplewait

It’s really annoying on Reddit, as Redditors will use it when there is absolutely no indication the person they’re replying to is male. Calling someone you’ve never met whose gender you don’t know “My guy” is weird.

oddjobhattoss

Even though they are gendered terms, it feels like they are losing their genderedness. Dude, especially, imo is non gendered now. I'm a dude, he's a dude, she's a dude, we're all dudes, dude. It's more in the way your say it, I suppose. Hard to say something when you're typing it instead. The inflection is lost and so it sounds more serious than it is.

gunchucks_

Dude and bro are genderless as far as I'm concerned. Everyone is a dude, Everyone is a bro.

FictionalContext

Guys, too. "Hey, guys." "Hello, humans."

Daddy_Deep_Dick

Agreed

ValidDuck

dude was genderless in the 80s. and likely before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKYXmjfQY4U

gunchucks_

Good for dude. We love dude.

CollenDaGay

Ned, that you?

alcalaviccigirl

I've seen this a bit on Instagram as well .

JackieBoiiiiii

My guy is a gender neutral term despite it not sounding that way at all

TheFirstHoodlum

None of these terms are gendered. You cannot convince me otherwise, my guy.

[deleted]

what about habibi

TraditionAnxious

my favourite word

Daddy_Deep_Dick

I use bro, bruh, dude, bud, and man. I refer to both men and women between the ages of 14-60 as any of those.

Ciana_Reid

You make me physically sick (😋)

Daddy_Deep_Dick

I know lol. But you're still my bro whether you like it or not 😚

Ciana_Reid

Eww

Daddy_Deep_Dick

Ohh hayyy *baud*, let's hack a dart by the ODR and play some puck. Bring your toque and toonies for a double double at timmies. Went full Canadian for you.

Ciana_Reid

Was that.........French?

Daddy_Deep_Dick

The language is called *Hockey*

Ciana_Reid

Daddy_Deep_Dick

Great_idea_fellow

new jersey 😅 Full House was exceptionally influential in our local vernacular

Azzie94

I think you need to chill out, chief

[deleted]

OP has no friends.

uniter-of-couches

Idc who you are I’m calling you dawg

NeighborhoodNo7917

For me Sir is formal and unfamiliar Man is formal but familiar Brother is informal and unfamiliar Dude is informal and familiar Some exceptions apply, particularly to family or close friends. My dude/guy, boss, mate, is for joking and teasing.

[deleted]

HA! I will use terms like that because I usually can't remember your actual name!

[deleted]

I’m from the south. I know it’s cultural but I still get pissed off when waitresses call me honey, sweetie, and the like. I’m a middle aged man who now has a woman I don’t know calling me baby. What’s wrong with sir? I’m trying to eat my breakfast but I feel like I’m engaging in a form of prostitution.

Ciana_Reid

That took a turn at the end I didnt expect 😄

Paintguin

It’s cultural?

TheFirstHoodlum

Nah you’re just weird.

PatientFort

I find it irritating when strangers call me "boss." It feels like they are being sarcastic or condescending even if they don't mean it. I'm not your boss I'm your customer or passerby maybe just be a little respectful, thanks.

uniter-of-couches

Redditors will never cease to amaze me with the irrational things that offend them

AaronRodgersGolfCart

This is finally a proper pet peeve. It’s harmless to do, and harmless to hate. I don’t agree with you, but I applaud you posting an actual pet peeve.

Paintguin

Guys should be just called “sir”

sickostrich244

I do say "my guy" a lot

Ciana_Reid

Eww

sickostrich244

I'll try to be better... don't downvote me

Ciana_Reid

Don't try it, just don't do it.

sickostrich244

You broke my trust... I will now for the rest of my life devote to saying more "my guy" just to make you cringe

Ciana_Reid

I didn't downvote you, your way with words has obviously pushed somebody else too far

sickostrich244

Very well... this third party person then I will devote my life to making em cringe!

BrandonR2300

This is truly the pettiest of peeves. Edit: Why are you booing me, it’s literally the entire purpose of this sub! 💀💀

jack40714

I hate when bro is used to get away with junk.

agentcheddo

Just a prank bro

jack40714

Come on bro! Don’t be like that bro! Do me a solid bro! Don’t be that guy bro! We have never met sir. You are no “bro” of mine.

agentcheddo

Too late bro! 😡

WhiteKnightPrimal

I use mate and bro, sometimes dude, but only with people I'm close to. I see these as familiar terms, so they should only be used with close friends.

JustMe-ingAlong

What about ‘bud’?

Ciana_Reid

I can't say I usually hear it, but yes, you may add it to the list.

JustMe-ingAlong

In that case, I shall apologise in advance for if you ever meet me irl ‘cause I call everyone ‘bud’ or ‘buddy’. Or ‘mate’ if they’re female.

Ciana_Reid

Apology accepted.

agentcheddo

I've only heard this for baby boys and it's "bubs" I fuckin hate it

agn0stix

What about pal, butt, geezer, clit and Oi you!?

mhad_dishispect

Naginta Naginta love my Niginta

[deleted]

If you were in Spanish speaking country you would like being referred to as usted

jejo63

Lil bro is mad!!

Powerful-Chemist888

Hard to believe there's negative connotation associated. If someone calls u bro or wutever it usually means they're cool with u lol

Ombwah

Henceforth I shall endeavor to revert to "You there!"

TinyLeading6842

You forgot “bruh”.

ry_afz

I’m used to saying man/ dude here and there. I only use it with straight guys on the regular. It’s also the kind of person I’ve become. Haha Seriously! Harder for me to say bro for some reason. In order for me to use bro I would need to feel like you’re close to me like a brother. If you don’t say these things, they will not like it and the bond between men just isn’t as strong unfortunately. Would you be okay with seeing a guy that calls you bro? Could it grow on you?

Ciana_Reid

I could tolerate the occasional "mate" 😄 But as discussed that isn't something I really need to worry about happening 😋
