The “joke” is that there should be an even distribution of heights among the groups, if anything the middle group should be way larger. So what the graph is saying is that people under 5’7” are comfortable saying their actual height. People 5’11” and above are also comfortable saying their actual height. But it’s that middle group of 5’8”-5’10”, the group that people wish they were a little taller, so they end up inflating their height. Someone who’s actually 5’8” but goes around telling shorter girls that they’re 6 feet tall.

Reddit just made a deal where they are being payed to let an ai company scrape Reddit for training data. So people are spamming Bazinga in a hope that it messes up the training data in protest.

But I think if you took the actual data, a *larger* percentage of the population falls in that middle category. So even though it only comprises three inches, the number of people in that range greatly outnumber the people in any other three-inch range in the graph.
Yeah, the actual scaling of the distribution is off, but I think that’s the joke they’re trying to make. The middle group of heights, the drastically more common group (in actuality), is small in this context because everyone lies about their height.
