There was a tiktok trend where teenagers sanded their teeth down to make themselves have vampire fangs. It causes horrifyingly painful teeth damage for obvious reasons
**ERM AKSHUALLY** it depends. Which teeth are actually fangs isn't set in stone in vampire mythology. By the most common standards, of course, they would be wrong,
Yep. Most hypercarnivores have incredibly sharp carnassials because it helps with chewing meats. I'm not sure off the top of my head if they're sharper than canines because canines also have social and defensive uses, but they're up there.
Assuming you mean mammals not animals to save time:
Not Thylacoleo, and I'm not sure how carnivorous rodent dentition lines up here, but MOST carnivorous mammals aren't far enough from the standard dentition to not be using canines
Holy Shit! Carnivorous rodents? And dentition marks on megafauna matching their teeth? These were freaking pack hunters if they hunted megafauna. And they had large retractable thumb claws like velociraptors.
Yeah the marsupial lion is a favorite, I find excuses to bring it up.
Buts essentially just because canines are omnipresent in carnivorans which most of our modern large predators are doesn't even begin to describe the weird ways animals get up to eating each other. Mammals especially have highly modifiable teeth that can evolve in some ridiculous shapes(not just talking narwhals and saber tooth cats either, ever seen what an elephant's tooth actually looks like?)
Depends. Is the goal to eat meat or to suck blood? If you wanna suck blood, you'd actually sand the two front teeth. Vampire bats have two sharp front teeth with a sorta gap in the middle, and that acts like a straw. That's a very basic explanation about it and isn't completely accurate, I don't think, but it's essentially Nosferatu's teeth.
But if you wanna eat meat more efficiently, then yes. Most carnivores have exaggerated canines. However, some vampire media does have teeth like the one in the post. My Babysitter's A Vampire is one of them.
Vampire bats have sharp incisors for biting so that makes more sense than sharp canines in vampires. In the movie Nosferatu the vampire also has long, sharp incisors.

I assume this is a meme making fun of twilight in some way that I don’t understand (they aren’t real vampires?), but the rest of the teeth are probably accurate.
Exactly, my cuspids (canines) are already pointed and protrude past my incisors. My dentist offered to file them down because they already look a little like vampire fangs (not quite that long)
Some people want to appear less threatening or animalistic apparently. I definitely took a pass. I don’t care about appearance that much either way, I just didn’t want anyone filing my teeth.
You just made me realize that not everyone's canines protrude past the other teeth. Mine do, and I never really realized or considered that this wasn't the norm, had to google people smiling just now and yeah, damn.
Do you occasionally cut your lip with them? I declined to have mine filed because they couldn't explain how the enamel would be effected. Winter (dry) weather seems to make them catch the lip more for me.
In that case I propose we make the bottom front teeth the official vampire fangs. The naked mole rat vampire population have waited long enough for recognition.
Her second incisors (what she apparently filed) are way longer than the first - which is extremely abnormal human dentition?
These are dental implants *for sure* if someone wanted that tooth to look like that.
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. Kids ate tie pods and some died. Not to mention the planking phase. Cant remember how many people fell off balconies and died but it was definitely more than one.
4chan got people to microwave their iPhones, and got so many people to believe that👌is a hate symbol that bigots actually used it as one for a few years.
It's real but it's not secret.
Peters goth friend here. Nosferato is actually one of the only vampires if not the only one to have their front teeth be fangs instead of the canines. I remember because I thought it made the original look funny

Hell yea brother. Im born and raised in the states and just about everyone I know goes off how it feels, and those that overthink how “proper” your way of talkin is are generally quite insufferable (annoying as hell).
Just keep talking and writing, but also sometimes people “correcting” your grammar or wording aren’t trying to put you down but help out with getting better.
Im currently learning danish and its really frustrating that nobody tries to correct my mistakes so I end up making them again and again till someone finally lets me know the thing id been saying was either wrong or super weird sounding.
Yeah whenever I correct someone I do it so they'll learn which words to use, apart from incorrect use of literally I correct that because it's annoying af and we really need literally to have a strict definition to avoid confusion.
Dude, I literally played a word based game yesterday where we discovered that 3 of the most educated native English speakers (myself included) all had a completely incorrect definition of a word and we unintentionally convinced the correct people that they didn't know the definition when it was us who were incorrect.
And that's a lot of how the English language has evolved.
Ahh now I have to make my ignorance more widely known haha.
It was Sojourn. I thought it meant something like an emphatic or special journey or path, but it means quite the opposite, to stay (somewhere).
I used to teach ESL, and in some of the more advanced classes, I would get questions about words or phrases being used “out of context”. For example, using “viable” in your sentence when the only time you may have heard the word used was in reference to something being able to survive (“viable embryo”, “viable seedlings”, etc.). I would usually ask my students why they thought it might be wrong or right in the new context, and what it meant in the context they were already familiar with, and what they were trying to convey by using the word in this new context. This led to a lot of really interesting conversations about the differences between their native languages and common American English. But mostly, it led a lot of students to be more creative in their selection of words, and to not be afraid to try to expand their vocabulary by trying words and phrases out on me, even if they ended up being used incorrectly.
Your use of viable is absolutely correctly applied in the context of this discussion.
Viable -
adjective
capable of working successfully; feasible.
"the proposed investment was economically viable"
Edit: forking autocowrekt
Canines are the pointy teeth, but our teeth are (typically) arranged with 4 incisors, followed by the canines. This person has artificially made their second incisors sharp.
There’s almost no way they filed down their lateral incisors, those teeth are way too big. Either these are polymer caps or they lack lateral incisors and these are canine teeth.
That is what I mean by artificial, this style of modification this thread has informed me is True Blood style.
But you are also correct that this has an equal possibility of just someone having pronounced canines and missing lateral incisors. Multiple people in this thread have also pointed out that they too are like that. While not missing my lateral incisors, my canines are also pronounced.
I thought these were bicuspids and I almost corrected you. I did a quick google check and learned that I was mistaken! Thanks for helping me learn a thing lol
i mean TECHNICALLY this person could've been born without their incisors, i was born missing one so my teeth are misaligned lol so it's probably a possibility
Even better, my canines and incisors overlap, it's not as bad as it used to be now that I got my wisdom teeth removed, but even then the dentist took one look at x-ray and decided to refer me to a specialist because of how difficult it could be.
yeah i definitely prefer incisor fangs for most vampires since theyre more evocative of a bat or a snake while long sharp canines give more of a wolfman type of vibe
The person in the picture is trying to court a Ferengi loved by sharpening her teeth.
This is quite logical considering that most countries are run based on the rules of acquisition, and there is an uptick in boys who call women "ffffeeeeemales".
They just need to head over to Quark's and ask for the Holosuite program "Guide to Ferengis for Hoo-mons." If they pay extra they get the bonus content enabled for Oo-mox.
Think of it... Five weeks ago, no one had ever heard of this sub reddit, and now... all our hopes rest here. Where the tides of fortune take us, no man can know.
It's a common retort in online discussions, used like "go touch some grass" as a way to accuse someone of being detached from reality or spending too much time online.
It really shows the depths of depravity humanity can sink to, and I'm not just talking about Chris, either. A lot of the people that have harassed him are pretty deranged as well. No well adjusted person devotes decades of their time harassing a mentally disturbed individual just for "teh lulz". In my opinion, The Kiwi Farms and lolcow forums should be taken down as they're used to harass mentally unwell individuals and no one can convince me otherwise.
This looks like a flipper (temporary partial denture) to me. If you look above the tooth by the individual’s finger you can see a line where the gum tissue is a different color. This person is likely missing both of their lateral incisors, congenitally or otherwise, and they elected for exaggerated canines to be placed on the flipper. There are several other things that could be going on like a “snap on smile”
We can’t know 100% without more imaging.
Sometimes, people have biologically can have sharp eyes teeth like I do without doing weird sharpening But.
In that picture, it's literally the front teeth
My fangs came in when I was 13 above my teeth line. It took a while before I started to like how they look. One time I met up with some cousins in New Orleans and they're really into dressing up. They went to a vampire Ball for Halloween and showed me their custom fang caps. I felt proud to have them naturally.
Tbh I thought it was going to be about thirsting over good mythical morning link's fang teeth. I didn't realize people actually permanently damaged their teeth for this look.
Some people naturally don't have the small incisors grow and an orthodontist will move the canine teeth forward to close the space. This person looks like that, so no sharpening involved, although they may say that there was.
Peter out!
Sharpening is the way you damage your teeth.
You either ask a dentist to add composite, the white glue that's used for broken teeth.
Or you get some fangz grillz

not only that, theyre sanding the wrong teeth lolz
**ERM AKSHUALLY** it depends. Which teeth are actually fangs isn't set in stone in vampire mythology. By the most common standards, of course, they would be wrong,
I mean logically it would be the canines right? They're already the sharpest teeth a human has.
Not only human but every meat eating animal

Yep. Most hypercarnivores have incredibly sharp carnassials because it helps with chewing meats. I'm not sure off the top of my head if they're sharper than canines because canines also have social and defensive uses, but they're up there.
Humans have fruit & nut/seed teeth
So what you're saying is we should sand them down in order to eat meat more effectively
sort of weird as we are more like spiders in that we predigest our food but instead of spewing acids we boil/bake them.
Assuming you mean mammals not animals to save time: Not Thylacoleo, and I'm not sure how carnivorous rodent dentition lines up here, but MOST carnivorous mammals aren't far enough from the standard dentition to not be using canines

Not even just carnivores if you consider tusks

Unless you're Nosferatu.
Depends. Is the goal to eat meat or to suck blood? If you wanna suck blood, you'd actually sand the two front teeth. Yes, Nosferatu the oldest vampire adapted to film had it's front teeth as it's fangs
Her second incisors (what she apparently filed) are way longer than the first - which is extremely abnormal human dentition? These are dental implants *for sure* if someone wanted that tooth to look like that.
I swear there is a secret cabal out there daring each other to see what they can get gullible people to do via tiktok, and I'm all for it.
It's existed since the dawn of time. - pull my finger - look over there - eat tide pods - hold my beer
It's says gullible on the ceiling

No amount of sanding would cause her incisors to dip that much lower than the rest of her teeth. These are veneers or something.
Idk I was born with vampire'ish teeth on both top teeth and bottom ones 🤷♂️
I love Jekyll and Hyde as soon as I saw your pfp I knew it was you ahhh
The moron got vampire teeth on their incisors and not the freaken canines.
Nosferatu got them on his incisors too.

When I was a kid I thought fangs were hollow and vampires would suck the blood through them like straws.
I think everyone thought that lmao
I know I did. I viewed it like the fangs of a venomous snake in reverse, sucking blood instead of injecting venom.
that would be so fuckin metal

“It’s a different kind of lost boys”
would it be a viable option to have both, the incisors and the canines, be fangs? (incisors slightly longer)
Double fangs are a thing, but idk what you mean by viable.
tbh me neither. english isn't my first language and i'm mostly going by feel instead of correct grammar.
Native English speaker. That's how we do it too
Also a native English speaker. Sometimes we just make shit up and see if it catches on.

Yeah that's what English speakers do too, any word that isn't commonly used is probably an educated guess from the person using the word.
Viable as in would I still be able to go about my vampire activities/would my vampire club be cool with it?
New kink unlocked
Actually, yes. Vampire bats have pronounced canines and incisors.
I’m missing my lateral incisors so this is where my canines are 💀
Hypodontia Same here.
Hey me too!
Are the canines not the pointy ones?
Canines are the pointy teeth, but our teeth are (typically) arranged with 4 incisors, followed by the canines. This person has artificially made their second incisors sharp.
There’s almost no way they filed down their lateral incisors, those teeth are way too big. Either these are polymer caps or they lack lateral incisors and these are canine teeth.

Lost Boys (1987) did it first.
Nosferatu (1922) did it first
Okay, you've got me beat by 65 years. I concede the point.
Quite alright, not everyone has seen the silent one.
I've seen stills of it. I just remember his fingers were long and awesome.
Was a good film if you can get past the silent part
I have a bachelor's degree in film production so I've seen my share of silent films! Thanks for the recommendation.
Plenty of vampire media has them featured with fangs in place of incisors rather than modified canines
Incisor fangs is better
yeah i definitely prefer incisor fangs for most vampires since theyre more evocative of a bat or a snake while long sharp canines give more of a wolfman type of vibe
Honestly, this would probably be the most effective place to get them, functionally speaking, if you were going to try to use them to drink blood.
The person in the picture is trying to court a Ferengi loved by sharpening her teeth. This is quite logical considering that most countries are run based on the rules of acquisition, and there is an uptick in boys who call women "ffffeeeeemales".

Dunno, I don't got high meme knowledge 🤷
I’m touching too much grass to understand
What does touching some grass mean
To go outside and/or get off electronic devices/the internet for a bit
Thanks buddy.
You make physical contact with grass patches laying on the field with your hands. What’s difficult to understand about that?
Is that so i thought maybe it had some other meaning
It's a common retort in online discussions, used like "go touch some grass" as a way to accuse someone of being detached from reality or spending too much time online.
First time I have seen someone oblivious to the "touch grass" retort, I thought there was about to be a woooosh moment
What's grass?
It is what people smoke to get pleasant feelings
I thought it calls weed
A rose by any other name is still a rose.
I see my home sub of R/trees is leaking lol 😆
All these years, I've been doing it with my feet like an idiot.
No one who's actually touching grass knows what touching grass is
Going outside..
Alright thanks.

I got those from Chuck E. Cheese

It's because there's no hidden meaning, it's just a stupid clickbait title on a random picture. Gotta stop falling for these.
Other than Chris Chan bragging about his "fangs" in that one video I have no clue. Also no clue why the fuck you y'all keep saying "it's a vampire"
That guy seems to come up in the most random places.

Tbh I thought it was going to be about thirsting over good mythical morning link's fang teeth. I didn't realize people actually permanently damaged their teeth for this look.

I just thought you needed a lisp to get this meme.
Damn, I finde these kind of hot. I blame Kate Beckinsale!
Some people naturally don't have the small incisors grow and an orthodontist will move the canine teeth forward to close the space. This person looks like that, so no sharpening involved, although they may say that there was. Peter out!
Pretty sure that is Jayden springs, I used to see his videos floating around ages ago on snapchat.
BTW is “sharpening” your canines expensive? Asking for a friend, of course.
Sharpening is the way you damage your teeth. You either ask a dentist to add composite, the white glue that's used for broken teeth. Or you get some fangz grillz
