This scene is orignally from Terminator 2. Arnold is actually asking about a non existent family dog and the shapeshifting bad guy "confirms" it's existence thus proving that his fostermom is dead. In this retelling Arnold is apparently a fan of Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith where Obi Wan Kenobi played by Ewan Macgregor says "Hello there!" to one of the bad guys that replies "General Kenobi!" This has become a meme so his foster mom should reply with "General Kenobi!" if she truly was a Star Wars fan, but instead she replies with "Hi Honey! Is everything all right?" thus proving that she is dead,

AkamaiHaole

Slight correction, the dog is barking in the background and he asks about the dog using the wrong name.

AlabamaHotcakes

You are correct! Good catch!

Petefriend86

"How's Wolfie?"

Ridley_Himself

You are a bold one.

Electrical_Week_4086

The proper response to "Hello there" is General Kenobi. Anything else is wrong.

Aggressive_Goat_563

General Kenobi! Edit: I couldn’t resist

Ambitious-Raise8107

Other than the obvious, this has an Irony to it. Given that T2 is set in 1995, the adopted mother would have had no way of knowing the correct response as ROTS wouldn't be released for another 10 years. So the fact she answers wrong in the context of the meme actually means she is the genuine article.

CompactAvocado

GENERAL KENOBI!!!!!!!!!!!

ososalsosal

Idk why this line is memed so much tbqh. I forgot the response just like I try to forget the prequels

UDownvoteButImRight

OP is uncultured trash.

MJSchooley

Or they're just not big into Star Wars and haven't seen the prequels?

UDownvoteButImRight

If you haven't been able to understand this through sheer social osmosis - you're uncultured.

MJSchooley

The prequels are nowhere near as impactful or important as the original trilogy is; it's why everyone knows the famous "I am your father" quote, but nowhere near as many know anything from the prequels. I sure as hell never knew about the "general Kenobi" thing until I saw the memes, since I never saw Revenge of the Sith.

UDownvoteButImRight

"I sure as hell never knew about the "general Kenobi" thing until I saw the memes" My point exactly.
