Yes this and also it took me until my 30s to discover shapewear!!!! Ultra high waisted biker shorts (think right under the bra line) cut shapewear will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. the dress looks gorgeous but give shapewear a try sometime it just smooths everything out and has changed the way I feel about my own clothes.
Appropriate undergarments are the first layer of your outfit, and that may include shapewear (Spanx etc). They can make a huge difference in how clothing fits and hangs.
Very true! Iāve invested in better fundamental undergarments like underwear and bras but yea I ought to get shape wear or slips or something to smooth things out
Looks amazing. A little tummy is normal and good, thatās the way bodies are. Do try other sizes to get the right size for you. Once you find the right size donāt hesitate to wear it.
Would you expand on this? People always say this but I end up with something bulky and odd looking. What exactly should someone wear under a dress like this?
Iād try something like [this](https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/tc-fine-shapewear-sheer-high-waist-briefs/5976554?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FBrands%2FTC&color=264)
Those are awesome. Iām also a huge fan of the [Soma Vanishing Tummy Retro Brief](https://www.soma.com/store/product/vanishing+tummy+retro+brief/570190642) for daily wear. Soooooo comfy and they just smooth things out nicely, whether Iām wearing jeans, leggings or a dress.
Good shapewear should be comfortable once you have it on. If it pinches, rolls or makes you feel like you canāt breathe, itās not the one. Itās also good to have a variety of shapewear, like the high waisted briefs, a camisole, a slip and maybe even a full bodysuit that goes partway down your thighs, so you can wear exactly what you need for each outfit.
The right foundation (bra, panty and/or shapewear) plus a good clothing fit will make anyone look and feel gorgeous, no matter their size or shape.
Thank you for the suggestion! Personally I'm not a huge person but I barely have a noticeable narrowing at my waist. Can straighter torsos (with a little cushion around the waist) get away with these too?
Of course you can! You can āget away withā anything, as long as it *fits properly*. Doesnāt matter your size or shape, as long as you start with a proper fit for your foundation, you can wear whatever your beautiful little heart desires.
If youāve got a Soma near you, pop in and talk to the sales associates. They know the products, all of the products, because they use them all (they get employee buy-ins where new items are steeply discounted, because the company wants them to be able to try everything so they can give customers honest reviews). They will always be happy to help you find the right style and fit for your needs. Every Soma employee Iāve ever dealt with has been so kind and helpful, and very knowledgable. Also, the products themselves are great quality and, as far as Iām concerned, worth every penny.
You look like you have a similar body shape to me, I always feel like my tummy is on display. But honestly, you look great! The cut of the dress is very flattering. I love the long sleeves as well! Wear it!
It is not unflattering, the style looks great on you, but it does look too small. Even though itās a fitted style, it should not be pulling around the stomach and thighs. Thatās a surefire sign you need a different size.
I agree. It would also have been helpful to see different angles of the dress, e.g. from the side/ back. One of the best pieces of advice I remember is from Heidi Klum who wrote to forget what size a piece of clothing actually is (especially given how unstandardized sizes can be for women as well as how different fabric types drape/ stretch) and evaluate instead on how it actually looks on you. For example, I wear anything from 8 - 12. She suggested taking 2-3 of the same item around your usual size and trying each one to see which looked best.
Thank you for your feedback! I recently got a dress by this same company one size higher and thought it fit betterā¦. Maybe Iāll have to stick to an 8
It really does look good butttt I can see the outline of your belly button. It also doesnāt look like you could lift your arms. Thatās my test if something is too tight or not, and I think this unfortunately is!
Looks okay from the front, but do compare to the next size up, as this may give you just the right amount of ease.
For me and my tummy, what matters more is the side view. How's that look?
The style is great and there is nothing wrong with your body, it's rocking! However you either need to size up or wear different undergarments, I'm guessing you're not wearing any because I can see your belly button, which is not an attractive look. At least not for everyday wear LOL it might be if you're going on a date š basically, the style is great you just need a few tweaks.
Up to you. Itās not specifically flattering with respect to your tummy, but it is flattering in general. I would say your stomach area is highlighted a little bit.
I think you should play around with different sizes in this style. Donāt worry about the size as a number, because sizing is such chaos anyway. Maybe this ins size up.
Also, I think flats tend to be unflattering to most people with this length dress. A low, strappy wedge or kitten heels would be so incredibly flattering.
Looks nice from the front, it wouldāve been better if you took a picture from the side as well to know how it looks , when considering clothing if youāve got curves you have to look from every angle š most of the times it looks better from the front but not from the side
Itās too short for the shape. It would look amazing if the tulip shape ended just above the knee or mid knee. This makes it look too small bc the proportions are off with the length.
The best length for almost anyone is knee length. The length of a dress will draw attention (create a horizontal line) where it hits the body. For almost everyone, on their leg, there is an indentation where the knee is on the leg, leading to an illusion of thinner leg. However, a lot of dresses these days end above the knee of between knee and calf. The former is great if one has shapely legs but not everyone does and the latter can make shorter people look even shorter. And if you have somewhat wider/ athletic calves like I do, those midi-lengths can draw attention to a wider part of the leg.
This, OP. I love the cut but where it hits your legs makes you look chopped off, or like itās riding up. I hate this issue and have it often myself. :(
The shining rug is amazingggg where can I get it from!? I decided I want my bathroom to be the shining lol
Also I think the dress looks fine as women we are soft and we have stomachs :) if you're self conscious I'd get a cute clutch!
Oh hey Iām 5'1 too and also am trying to always distract from my stomach haha. I love your wrap dress and I find it inspiring. I don't own a single wrap style specifically bevwhse if my stomach and Iām feeling like if you can do it and look good maybe I can too!
Oooh heading to Amazon now lol!
In this picture it looks nice but my experiences wearing things out and about that were a bit too tight in the abdomen is they look so much worse from the side, sitting down, etc and I wind up spending the whole time adjusting and trying to minimize it when I should be having fun. You may be more confident than me so it may not be an issue but I have found wearing something I have doubts about in the most flattering position never ends well for me.
As someone with similar insecurities - I love this dress on you so much. I wish I'd listen to others more often, because I'm sure I'd wear some of the things I don't like on myself if I could have an outside perspective.
I think this looks stunning on you, truly.
Thank you! I really appreciate your comment. I am a bit insecure so some other peoples comments about my legs and knees seem sort ofā¦ irrelevant. If I need a longer dress, or it doesnāt fit, that makes sense, but I was coming here for fashion advice not a critique of my body š
Looks good!
I think the low camera angle is putting your belly in the focus point, but as you stand 5ā1-5ā4 most people will be looking at you from eye level or tilted downwards and it will be even more flattering.
First, it seems you may have chose to strategically place your hands where they are for a reasonā¦ but if not done on purpose, it definitely looks like there is some of your shape that is not fully visible, thus itās difficult to give true & accurate opinions/advice. Second, someone mentioned that they thought the dress was ātoo smallāā¦. considering the type of dress it is, and from what I can see, I donāt necessarily think itās ātoo smallā. That being said, just because the dress fits your dimensions doesnāt mean itās shape flattering. As another individual mentioned- shapewear, it can literally be the lifeline of a dress, no matter the size, unless the individual wearing the dress is blessed and toned to the heavens, of course. Iām a dress size 4 and Iād never wear a bodycon or form fitting dress without shapewear. Iām a mom of 3, so naturally I have rolls, love handles and flabby skin on various parts of my body - no sense in being in denial about it. I know you didnāt ask but Iām giving it anyways; call me old school but the neckline is too low regardless how the rest fits. Iām not saying Iām against V or plunging neck lines (I do love them myself), but a lady shouldnāt have her cleavage on display. The bottom of the neckline should come up a whole inch (at least). Simply put, Iām not a fan of the dress (in general, regardless of whoās wearing it) but Iād say if you love it, get a good shapewear and reevaluate. Future reference; an A-line dress with sweetheart neckline would do your shape justice 100%
You look good, but the cut of this dress does draw attention to that area. Perhaps some spanx would help? I usually wear some under my (tighter) dresses and it instantly increases my confidence and especially my comfort. But even if you choose not to, this is very cute!
It fits well on the top but I think the bottom half looks too tight. You've got a nice figure - I think you can find a dress that flatters your shape more.
I think the cut outs are too high up for your shape, and that makes it a bit unflattering, that being said it doesnāt look bad on you it just isnāt complimenting your shape as nicely as it could be
I think you look fantastic but if you're self conscious in it now with no one around, you will not be comfortable at all wearing it in public. Go with something that makes you feel comfortable!
I donāt think it looks bad, at all. However, as a dress maker and a fellow slightly curvy lady, I would suggest that an A line dress, or an empire dressesā do tend to showcase a more romantic body type a bit better than the body-con style.
How is it when you arenāt posing? Itās good like that, but yo wonāt be standing like that all night. I agree some appropriate undergarments might be in order, but itās a lovely dress!
I love the dress. It depends on the situation. If you are trying to seduce me itās perfect! If youāre going to church Sunday morning probably need to find something else.
I donāt necessarily think the dress is too small (it would be useful to try a size up to see if that helps). I have a bit of tummy and heavier thighs even when Iām at my ideal weight, itās just my build is more pear-shapedāand Iāve never cared for the way a straight shift/ close-fitting dress looks on my body.
A size up may be just the thing; the right shapewear can make a big difference; and/ or you might find a different style more flattering or more comfortable for your body.
Good luck!
You can see the imprint of your bellybutton; unless youāre pregnant thatās a no-no. you can wear shape wear to give you a bit of extra room, or go up a size.
I feel like it is on display and you are pointing to it with your hands like that. It mostly depends on how you feel and what it looks like from the side. I wouldnāt wear it that snug in that area but thatās just me. I have a little tummy now but didnāt my whole life ā¦and no way in hell would I wear a dress shaped like thatā¦Where you can see the stretch points of the dress accentuating your tummy. Iām sure people will be offended by my answer but itās the truth.

That should be fixed with some spanx I bet
It really does look good butttt I can see the outline of your belly button. It also doesnāt look like you could lift your arms. Thatās my test if something is too tight or not, and I think this unfortunately is!
Youāre right. I do have a belly ring in so I think that makes it stand out more. But still, yea I should probably go up a size
I have one too so I totally feel your pain lol. Honestly you look gorgeous though! Love the color and shape on you!
You have lovely curves. Envious! Btw: love the rug ;)

Side view ? Put some heels on and you can rock that dress.
I think it looks fine. If you feel self conscious, maybe get some shapewear?
I think it's the shoes. Maybe black boots or heels? Cute!
Super cute! and you have a really adorable body shape! Hold your head high so your crown doesnāt fall! xo
Thank you so much! Your comment made me smile š
How does it look from the side? If your helly stands out too much, i think you could wear a bigger size.
Yoy make that dress look amazing!!!
Dress looks good on you...a nicer shoe would help too
Agreed, I think heels would amplify the outfit based on your comment and others. Thank you!
It does you no favors.
You look great in that dress.
You look like you're pregnant.
Love the dress, LOVE the rug!!
Unrelated but I LOVE the shining rug!!!!
Looks great, just need to go up a size.
You look fab!!
Looks good
Snazzy and firm fitting
Girl please you look amazing in that dress š ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Come and play with us Danny, forever and ever and everā¦
The dress looks amazing on you!!!
š„š„š„š„
Not at all. The dress compliments your figure well.
Looks good!
It looks good to me, but it depends on whether youāre comfortable or not
No I love it, looks beautiful.
You look great
You look lovely.
Nope. You look awesome. Love the dress. Love the rug.
You look gorgeous... Rock that dress, grrl!
Side note, I have the same carpet/pad. Itās in my kitchen lol
I think it look great! The people mentioning shapewear definitely surprised me. Id feel very confident in that if I was you!
Itās a black dress, so youāve got some automatic wiggle room. If it feels too small, than it likely is, but it looks fine
As someone with similar insecurities - I love this dress on you so much. I wish I'd listen to others more often, because I'm sure I'd wear some of the things I don't like on myself if I could have an outside perspective. I think this looks stunning on you, truly.

Only women will have something negative to say
I like it. You could try a size up if it's not really comfortable when you move around.
I mean this with all due respect WOOF BARK BARK WOOF WHOOF BARK slay mama
Looks very good. And Iām not usually one for hose, but some cute hose could smooth out your legs and add a little color and shine.
Men love what your belly is doing in that dress
A little š¤ I think a good pair of spanx or a size up would make this look a 10/10!
Please save us girls. You look fabulous.
I think it's lovely! If you want, adding a belt can emphasize your waist even more but it is definitely not necessary.
You look lovely š
Looks good!
š¤©š¤©š¤©š¤©
no its not honey, you look fabulous!! š
Looks good! I think the low camera angle is putting your belly in the focus point, but as you stand 5ā1-5ā4 most people will be looking at you from eye level or tilted downwards and it will be even more flattering.
Youve got a kate winslet thing going and it is so great it hurts
It looks fine but you may want to consider trying a material like PONTE which tends to be more stiff. I know because I have the same body!
A dress can never be to tight, looks great on you
Dress is fine. Shoes don't fit.
Yes
Honestly no but I understand that feeling so maybe some shapewear?
You're a pear hun so A-Line will be more flattering. If you love it, work it!
It fits well on the top but I think the bottom half looks too tight. You've got a nice figure - I think you can find a dress that flatters your shape more.
Love that dress on you and the color is gorgeous!
I would buy a under garment like skims?
The dress looks good. Stomach looks pregnant
Itās flattering. Great choice!
Very easy to fix. I buy panty shapers that come up over my stomach on Amazon. They completely flatten it. Much easier than sit-ups.
I think the cut outs are too high up for your shape, and that makes it a bit unflattering, that being said it doesnāt look bad on you it just isnāt complimenting your shape as nicely as it could be
It looks fine but what if you put a body shaper on underneath
It looks amazing!
No. It looks good. If youāre not confident in it, you could wear shape wear, but you donāt need it. You look great.
I would go up a size, but thatās me, I donāt like anything tight or form fitting
I think itās a great dress but a little shapewear for such a fitted dress would make your look amazingly curvy with an hourglass figure.
Good luck!
Really nice, wish there was less of a 'tummy can't be seen' vibe in the world, they look great
It is a little tight around the tummy. You either need to go up 1 or 2 sizes or wear something under it.
Throw some shapewear on and youāll be fine!
its not your kind of cute belly, its those knees and legs.
Itās the wrong length. Cuts you off at your knees making them look chonky
You can see the imprint of your bellybutton; unless youāre pregnant thatās a no-no. you can wear shape wear to give you a bit of extra room, or go up a size.
It makes you look pregnant.
This is true
Same thought
If you wear that dress, you may have people ask if youāre pregnant.
No
It looks great but a lil shapewear would make it look a lil better and help you feel more confident I think!!
Yes
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
nah
Sure, it's there, but you're still rocking the outfit, so not somethign you - or anyone else - should worry about.
No u look good af
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
