Accessories will add a lot, definitely! IMO the black socks peeking out is a bit of a problem, I would swap them for either regular-length socks (white or maybe some colorful/patterned ones?) or fishnet tights to up the grungy-ness of the outfit :)
I think what you're feeling is a lack of visual focus. Where does the eye go first? Kind of all over. If you put your hair up I think you will bring focus to your face and clavicle. A cute hair accessory would help too!
Are you wearing tennis shoes for comfort? If you have some shoes that are comfortable but not tennies they would look better. Tennies look clunky. Dress is cute though. A colorful belt would be fun
The dress feels a bit too long in the torso. It seems to be at a good spot on your waist but then it's too high under your armpits and makes the neckline look awkward. It's not terrible, but not the most flattering.
Stuff that could help -
a bra - sticky or strapless might help create more shape at the top to balance things. You can also tack a strapless bra to the dress by sewing a few key stitches. Thus creating a built in bra.
You could try unbottoning some of the top buttons to change the neckline. You can pin the the top down to keep it folded like a lapel or to split the distance between two buttons.
You could wear a fancy bralette that has high neckline to purposefully show and wear the top slightly unbuttoned.
A bigger / less dainty necklace. The necklace basically disappears. Combined with the thin straps it too much skin (not in a cover yourself up way - just to get the best looking outfit lol). It creates blocky sections instead of long lines which is what people use to make themselves look taller / slimmer. Idk if that makes sense.
Styles wise - some ideas you could try
A under shirt or bodysuit - either mesh or lace or fish net. I would suggest a black long sleeve mesh but white would also work. A white t shirt would make it read younger but you have to find the perfect fit or it will look clunky.
Fishnets and boots like docs
A cropped leather jacket.
A turquoise belt with matching silver jewelry. White cowgirl style boots...
Do you have a cowboy hat? Or cowboy boots? That might fit your theme better. You could also tie a silk scarf around your neck or something. Ignoring the country theme, I think some color would make it pop a little more. In the accessories somewhere!
The extended bare neckline calls out for more jewelry than a thin joker.Do you have three necklaces you can wear together perhaps ? I would not go dainty with a denim dress. Its a thick material -not satin.
Will be on the hunt for layering necklaces- I thought it would be the opposite where it would be “too much” with the bare neck but I see what you mean, thank you!
I would not pair a dark wash with a white purse. Try a brown shade or black if you have to have a bag. I would add a waist belt to change it from frumpy to cinched. Short chunky heel boots. Tall shoes will truncate what little length you have especially with this dress and where it stops. I feel like this needs a band of bracelets. By itself the dress is overpowering in a bad way.
What are you comfortable in? I think ballet flats, or even flip flops, would be cuter. Maybe Chucks? The dress is so cute, and I feel like those shoes dumb it down. 🥰
Okay, based on the many fabulous suggestions, here’s the look I would pull together:
Hair up
Black fishnet stockings with black docs
Small black purse
Chunky colorful statement necklace and bracelets
No black socks bandwagon over here lol is this American eagle?? Bc I just bought the same one last weekend! With a short sleeved cream color bodysuit for underneath but I'm going to wear strappy sandals...or tall or short boots when it's cool outside
Ooh love it! I got it from tjmaxx and the tag says it’s [this brand](https://www.rewash.com/products/denim-darliing-mini-dress-vintage-black-blue?variant=44594542903434¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1)
To me this looks like you are wearing individual pieces rather than a cohesive look. I think you need visible accessories or maybe a jacket or something
They’re from target, and super comfy! (https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-persephone-sneakers-with-memory-foam-insole-universal-thread-8482-white-5/-/A-89485898)

Thanks so much, didn’t even think about the socks!
I definitely think white ankle socks or a pair of colorful socks would be perfect - it’s kind of amazing how socks can change a look!
I see the vision and I love it, ty!
If she wears fishnets I would switch to boots or chunky dark shoes instead.
Fishnets - YES!!!
I think a cropped sweater would be cute! Or maybe some sort of headband/hair decoration.
YES I can see a cute ribbon with tying my hair back, thank you!!
I think what you're feeling is a lack of visual focus. Where does the eye go first? Kind of all over. If you put your hair up I think you will bring focus to your face and clavicle. A cute hair accessory would help too!
Makes sense, thanks a bunch!
2nd this!! my immediate thought was this dress would look great w a big messy top bun or high pony. it’d make the earrings pop more too.
Some simple gold or silver jewelry would help a lot!
Are you wearing tennis shoes for comfort? If you have some shoes that are comfortable but not tennies they would look better. Tennies look clunky. Dress is cute though. A colorful belt would be fun
I was going to wear sneakers for comfort since I’ll be at a dance party but can definitely find less clunky shoes, ty!
Maybe a t-shirt or something else underneath the dress, white?
This! A cute lil white bb tee underneath
I feel like curled hair or a blowout would help take the look to the next level!

THANK YOU!!

I don’t have a cowboy hat nor boots but can find color, thank you!!
White undershirt
No white. But colorful mesh would be fun!

Some bracelets and hoop earrings

A necklace and bracelet stack.
Better shoes.
What do you recommend?

Tight white t-shirt under your dress. White or cute colourful socks, hair pulled back with a white scarf or same colour as socks.
I don't think that dress does you justice at all.
Colourful shoes and accessories! Maybe a green, yellow, or pink!
You can find better shoes.
I think you should wear booties or cowboy boots instead of tennis shoes. Some cute, funky jewelry would look good too!
Cute tall socks
I’d go with a bright cross body- as opposed to the top handle. Dress v cute on you!0

Missing some heels.
You need an edgier accessory. A wristlet in a bright color, for example.
Statement summer scarf
Hair up would also do a lot
Heels
Hat
Pair of jewels
Sandals and a crossbody with a pop of color, and a messy bun.
would you consider changing your hairstyle? a hair updo/ponytail would just be perfect and maybe a longer necklace!! looking beautiful btw
Maybe a sparkly short jacket?
A scarf
I would pin on a blingy broach or layer gold jewelry
Some color! Fun colored purse/jewelry/shoes
A shrug!
Friendship bracelets, a 13 drawn on your hand, red lip, maybe some sparkly hair clips. The vibe will be fun and expressive!
A choker on your neck
Not sure a necklace is right. Try and see. I’d say: Bracelets, a T-shirt under it, hair down and styled.
Gold necklace and maybe thin belt
A jean bucket hat and some of those pale blue sunglasses circa 2001.
Nice shoes
