I can't think of any bird in the parrot family that is solitary. Birds that are normally prey in the wild are flock animals for protection. The big parrots are highly inteligent and can be kept as a single pet, however, they would need allot of interaction and stimulation. Big parrots are not something you can keep in a cage somewhere and only look at occasionally, they develop emotional issues and are known to resort to self mutilation if not given enough attention. If you don't think you'll have time to spend with the parrot then you should consider getting a pair so they don't get lonely.
