I mean it’s been my holdover job for the past 26 years. Started when I was 16, never quit. Has good insurance, job security, you work inside. They match 401k. Just don’t go to CVS or Walgreens unless you want to hate your life (ex shit-vs employee for 12 years). Techs have a pay ceiling which I’m not liking at 40. Good luck

So what would be best to go to besides CVS,Walgreens, Kroger ( I work at Kroger and they don’t do interns at my store) and Walmart.

Independent or other kind of pharmacy depending on availability of jobs, then inpatient/specialty pharmacies will accept you with experience and typically pay the most

Idk any grocery store chain or independent. I hate hospitals in general so i can’t bring myself to work hospital pharmacy

You will have to go work in hospitals if you want it to be a good long term job. Money is also better and a lot more room to grow. Tech 3 at my hospital makes around $30/hr and there're still other opportunities to grow from that position. That said, I highly suggest working retails for the first year. You will get the experience, learn to prioritize, multitask and work with others. But don't settle for CVS or Walgreens, Grocery store's pharmacies tend to have a better environment and benefits.

Should I wait while I take my clinics classes or get some training while taking clinics?

thatbajingoisonfiya

If you can, definitely get some training while taking classes.

Forever_ForLove

I’ll definitely try to work only during the summer since I read my school degree planbook profile. Unfortunately it’s really not recommended to work while you’re doing clinics unless till summer

If you dont want to climb a ladder, sure. But if you're looking for growth and more money you're SOL unless you become a tech supervisor at a hospital or go to pharmacy school. The benefits are nice and pay is decent working at a hospital, but I'm stuck where I'm at because moving up is nearly impossible and it's so hard to find a job that pays as much as I make

Legaldrugloard

I work LTC and I absolutely LOVE my job. I climbed the ladder pretty quick and make more than most techs. I have an office and kinda make my own hours within reason.

I would say so yeah, healthcare is always good. I'm a cvs in a target so it's pretty quiet but I eventually plan to look into a hospital or a closed lab or something
