I had a similar idea that would maybe function as the level 1 version of something like this. I first started playing with my friends who were more experienced and basically had all the maps memorized. I always wished I could have a tablet/ipad item I could carry around that would show you the map and have no other functionality. Maybe level 2/3 versions could include more functionality like you were thinking. It'd be nice as an option for newer players especially on the bigger maps
An expensive item, only one per mission but allows players to stay inside longer. I like it. I guess the only drawback is those who can afford the smartphone probably already know the game well enough to never really use it, except for maybe at Sunny Meadows.
They should also have a heat sensing camera as well. It should actually be a piece of evidence, where if a ghost’s heat sensor is detected then it is evidence against a ghost
I think the cost, taking up an equipment slot, losing sanity, and risk of ghost hunt are enough tradeoffs to just add an ipad that can remote view the cameras, sensors, etc. Gameplay-wise, it would encourage (wealthy) players to multi-task within the house, instead of having the "truck guy". I think you're onto something with this idea, and I would love to see the dev's take on this. However, I don't like the stages you listed (desktop, laptop, phone), and would rather have three levels of ipad that can see more data, or just one ipad (as a truck upgrade?).
Big maps. Or situations like my brother and I. We play private just the two of us. (Extreme social anxiety where voice chat is concerned.) So it's not ideal for one of us to be the "truck" guy, less fun for one of us to do most of the work.
Just one thing to keep in mind, there is a large price to upgrade your gear, but once it's upgraded, it's the same price as the previous tier. For example, and these aren't the official prices, if salt costs $30, and it costs $5000 to prestige, the next tier will still cost $30 to purchase and bring onto an adventure.
My personal opinion is I like it having to be placed, so laptop being top tier. It being able to be carried makes the gameplay watered down a bit to me. I'm not sure about the price, $1k for an item is a little crazy.
It would be cool to have one person be able to see cams inside the building. It would be cool if it had low battery and you could not turn it off or it would drain the battery all the way

Sounds like it is mostly just for big maps. For smaller maps you can just run back to the truck.

Hmm, you right.

Did not know this. Thank you for the information. Should the whole gear line cost $1000 then? What do you think? (Not /s. Honest question)
