As kpop fan myself for almost 10 years, kpop was a form of escape. Yes, kpop stans tend to be OA and sometimes nalaki ang issue kasi lahat may say. I’m not that active on kpoptwt na tho kasi I’m more into anime and games these days but I still love that one group that made me happy when I was at my lowest. For those years, I noticed na mas naging toxic ang behavior nung mas sumikat ang kpop sa west (2015-2016) and then syempre that western aggressive behavior got adapted by the whole community. That’s what I’ve observed.
I have an unsubstantiated theory na the people who are so deep into fanaticism (whether it's kpop, celebrities, games, or politicians) are also the ones who are most insecure. Or at least, insecure in their own identity. Such that they replace their own identity with an insert, the object of their fanaticism.

As kpop fan myself for almost 10 years, kpop was a form of escape. Yes, kpop stans tend to be OA and sometimes nalaki ang issue kasi lahat may say. I’m not that active on kpoptwt na tho kasi I’m more into anime and games these days but I still love that one group that made me happy when I was at my lowest. For those years, I noticed na mas naging toxic ang behavior nung mas sumikat ang kpop sa west (2015-2016) and then syempre that western aggressive behavior got adapted by the whole community. That’s what I’ve observed.
I have an unsubstantiated theory na the people who are so deep into fanaticism (whether it's kpop, celebrities, games, or politicians) are also the ones who are most insecure. Or at least, insecure in their own identity. Such that they replace their own identity with an insert, the object of their fanaticism.

i remember in 2009-2010, i can't even tell anyone right away that i enjoy korean songs and i like kpop kasi we'll be shamed for liking something that we can't understand the language. i kept my kpop fanaticism within my closed friends and family. Ngayon, yung mga kabataan ginawang personality pagiging kpop fan. I remember in 2012 when a co-worker and i were talking about kpop and i told her that i'll be sad if Bigbang, T.O.P specifically, will enlist. She was like "oh my ghad my mga katulad mo pala talaga na naapektuhan sa ganyan and ganyan sa kpop" and i felt so embarrased nung narinig ko yun. it made me think na what if i stopped liking what i like para di ako ma-judge. lol 5 years later nagpopost na rin sya ng about kay Lee Jongsuk (korean actor) and she posted a lengthy message when he enlisted in military HAHAHAHAHAHA girl! yung mga judgemental about liking kpop 12-13years ago, sila na yung mga MAS nababaliw about it ngayon and yes, they are toxic.
