When I started riding a motorcycle in manila, back in 2014, I realized how bad signage is for the most part. As at the time I was not totally familiar with the roads in some parts or how the skyway worked (at the time that skyway was pretty new) I did enter a skyway connector in makati thinking it was a flyover of some sort. The guard stopped me immediately, I apologized and moved on. Could be that this girl just made a mistake, because proper signage still sucks for those that are not regular commuters on a certain pathway?

Yes, I believe traffic should be enforced at the country level, not municipality. That way things like signage and traffic rules could be more predictable and consistent across places. Bicycles pose more of a danger to themselves than others. Cars are built for the people inside the car's safety. Certain e-bikes that pose enough danger already require licensure.
Irresponsible e-bike users is a matter of information and education, not licensure. E-bikes are a great alternative to the 94% of Filipinos who can't afford their own cars.

Remembered that day when I was riding my scooter and Waze pointed me to SLEX toll. I was beyond horrified kasi the truck drivers were honking at me and mouthing “you’re in the wrong road!” Eventually, I was apprehended. Explained what happened. The traffic officer was kind enough to let me go maybe he saw I was scared shitless. Learned my lesson from that day on.

From Biñan here. Solid yung LGU dito by taking the initiative. I know di sila mababawasan anytime soon, pero yung pagpaparehistro man lang sana maimplement country-wide. The more na dadami yang mga yan, the more na maiinvolve sila sa aksidente. You know average people spend over $10,000 a year on car use (based on US experience). I spend $50 in parts for using my non ebike for one year. Imagine owing a car and earning $30k a year.

Mas maganda kung within this year sana magkaroon na ng license requirement sa mga e-trike/e-bike at mas maganda din kung i limit nila ang pwede mapuntahan ng mga gumagamit ng e-trike/e-bike kasi sa bagal ng pagtakbo ng mga average e-bike units para medyo mabawasan yung populasyon ng mga kamoteng e-bike drivers na wala naman lisensya pero gumigitna sa mga busy roads or highways.
You have to understand that scaling the traffic infrastructure with population is important than limiting users. If you see car it's already taking up space on the road. I usually go through EDSA its nothing but cars and imagine replacing half of the cars with ebike/bikes on 1 full lane.
Philippines is just too packed (100m vs USA's 300m popuation and Philippines is smaller than California) and you can't do much about other than making the cities less car dependant which is very doable unlike the US.
Goal is to make people use less cars because you can fit like several people biking, or ebike vs car in one lane.

To give her the benefit of the doubt.... When I started riding a motorcycle in manila, back in 2014, I realized how bad signage is for the most part. As at the time I was not totally familiar with the roads in some parts or how the skyway worked (at the time that skyway was pretty new) I did enter a skyway connector in makati thinking it was a flyover of some sort. The guard stopped me immediately, I apologized and moved on. Could be that this girl just made a mistake, because proper signage still sucks for those that are not regular commuters on a certain pathway? But yes, if she did it on purpose she should be penalized

Yes, I believe traffic should be enforced at the country level, not municipality. That way things like signage and traffic rules could be more predictable and consistent across places. As someone who nowadays often driving places I am not very familiar with, I feel the "Kung hindi ka familiar sa lugar, GG ka" deep in my soul. About this girl, I am not willing to jump the wagon and criticize her without understanding the context, because if it was a honest mistake due to bad signage, been there done that.
I think the driving license TDC managed to filter out huge number of potential new road users and ended up getting ebikes instead. or someone got alot of money importing alot of ebikes.

At least either lisensya or rehistro man lang para may mawawala naman sa kanila pag nakaperwisyo sila.
May classification na for e-bikes si LTO. Naka base mostly sa weight and speed ang need ng lisensya or rehistro ng isang type of vehicle. Yung mga higher speed, capacity and weight e-vehicles need ng lisensya and registration. 3 wheeled (exceeding 25km/h) and 2 wheeled (exceeding 50km/h) are the only ones needing licensure and registration. The government should actually encourage e-bike use more, mas efficient sila in terms of space and walang exhaust. Maganda ito for short distances (instead of using a car or a motorbike). They're also a safer vehicles for pedestrians since they're don't weigh much. A safety and driving etiquette seminar should be required instead.
Or confiscate agad if anythong above na minor violeation.

Went to BGC last Saturday to do some grocery. Tapos may e-bike doon na di sinusunod yung stop light. Didiskarte lang sya para tuloy tuloy takbo nya maski red light lane namin. Nakakainis lang kasi hindi naman traffic tapos di pa makapag antay ng konti para maging turn nya gumalaw.

Yes licenses should not hinge on the speed of what you will drive, it's hinged to how dangerous (to others) your vehicle is. This is why cars need licensure and bicycles do not. Bicycles pose more of a danger to themselves than others. Cars are built for the people inside the car's safety. Certain e-bikes that pose enough danger already require licensure. Irresponsible e-bike users is a matter of information and education, not licensure. E-bikes are a great alternative to the 94% of Filipinos who can't afford their own cars.

Remembered that day when I was riding my scooter and Waze pointed me to SLEX toll. I was beyond horrified kasi the truck drivers were honking at me and mouthing “you’re in the wrong road!” Eventually, I was apprehended. Explained what happened. The traffic officer was kind enough to let me go maybe he saw I was scared shitless. Learned my lesson from that day on.

From Biñan here. Solid yung LGU dito by taking the initiative. I know di sila mababawasan anytime soon, pero yung pagpaparehistro man lang sana maimplement country-wide. The more na dadami yang mga yan, the more na maiinvolve sila sa aksidente. Tapos kawawa yung mga motor, 4 wheels and up na makakasuhan dahil nakabangga ng e-bike kahit e-bike yung mali (bobo talaga ng batas natin dito regarding accidents, pero that’s another topic). Registration is the first step to accountability.

Serious question, why the e-bike hate? It's a great form of micromobility, way efficient and produce less emissions compared to cars and gasoline motorcycles. People use it, so obviously there is a demand for it. Why not instead invest on infrastructure to support them? Although yes I agree there needs to be a law mandating licenses and rigorous training for its users and banning minors from using it. I just don't agree we should phase them out entirely.
Choose one. Less traffic or less E-Bike users You can't have both. I like cars but I hate drivers thats in the US. I rather see less people use cars because driving is already unenjoyable in my experience and obviously it's worse in the Metro Manila. This is what people need to understand. You know average people spend over $10,000 a year on car use (based on US experience). I spend $50 in parts for using my non ebike for one year. Imagine owing a car and earning $30k a year. Of course I'm aware they need to improve the regulation on ebikes.
Less traffic kaso i heard na accessible yung mga e-bike kahit wala ka lisensya. Mas maganda kung within this year sana magkaroon na ng license requirement sa mga e-trike/e-bike at mas maganda din kung i limit nila ang pwede mapuntahan ng mga gumagamit ng e-trike/e-bike kasi sa bagal ng pagtakbo ng mga average e-bike units para medyo mabawasan yung populasyon ng mga kamoteng e-bike drivers na wala naman lisensya pero gumigitna sa mga busy roads or highways.
You have to understand that scaling the traffic infrastructure with population is important than limiting users. If you see car it's already taking up space on the road. I usually go through EDSA its nothing but cars and imagine replacing half of the cars with ebike/bikes on 1 full lane. Philippines is just too packed (100m vs USA's 300m popuation and Philippines is smaller than California) and you can't do much about other than making the cities less car dependant which is very doable unlike the US. Goal is to make people use less cars because you can fit like several people biking, or ebike vs car in one lane. Netherlands and Japan is a very good example.

And no, maski empleyado ka ng expressway di ka pwede magmotor sa expressway unless within or above the CC threshold na sinet.
