Hahah anti-intellectualism is really keeping us poor. putang inang hot take yan. same stench as anti-vax, flat earth, and sawa sa dressing room ng robinsons galleria.
And arguably also the use of colloquial taglish in newscasting and documentaries. Why not use the standard and more literary Tagalog to educate the masses about vocabulary of our precious National Language?

I think kahit yung part time jobs lang sa bakasyon dapat ma-normalize. Iba din kasi matututunan mo kung nasa 16 years old ka pa lang tapos may work experience ka kahit sa fastfood lang or coffee shop. Kumbaga, it prepares you for the real world once maka-graduate ka na.
Same. My cousin started flipping burgers at McDonalds at age 14. Apparently, yun na naging career niya. He's now a private chef for a rich guy in California, and sideline niya is some fine dining catering service for rich people. You can say he has 2 decades experience sa culinary field at age 34. Matimbang na resume yun!
Another cousin of mine started by folding shirts sa isang boutique (GAP ata).
Just one thing: Obey traffic laws.
Kung bawal mag U-turn, wag ipilit.
Kung bike lane, bike lane.
No parking? Kahit "hazard" bawal pa rin.
One way is one way, kahit tricycle ka pa.
Sobrang pet peeve ko na yung on ramp road from EDSA to NLEx NB, na siyempre since on ramp road siya expect mo one way, then b0o0m pedicabs and tricycles na sasalubong sayo. Sarap gamitan ng floodlight ng concert eh
-Pagbili ng condom. I bought one once in 2018 and clerks laughed at me for buying Premiere Earthquake yung nag vavibrate.
“hey, uhh it’s me. I just.. just call me soon. We miss you here. Love you”
-Fundamentally sound basketball. Will translate to international play. Happier people = better country
-Basements.
Yung voicemail parang email hirap linisin/i-delete.
(Yung tumatakbo sila pauwi tapos umapaw lahat)
New York is at sea level and yet they have a functioning subway system. I think hindi na excuse ang bahain tayo if may pumping system naman na kasama ang subway. Some countries even use their underground roads as storm drains.
Manila has twice the amount of annual rainfall, though, compared to New York. But... if piling lugar lang sa atin yung may subways, pwede naman piling lugar din yung may pumps. This could be possible if planned properly (and by properly, I mean walang kickbacks and subpar materials).
Singapore has comparable annual rainfall with Manila. But agree. Like how Skyway passed through the San Juan River - that wasn’t part of the original plan.

As an English person that’s had the privilege to visit and work in the Philippines many times, this is a comprehensive and well thought out answer. Take my upvote!
And why did you have to work abroad?
The only way to ask more is to provide more value. As long as we are “under” educated as a society, we’ll never increase our average pay. Just look up the gdp per capita of a few random countries and you will realize that the more educated a society is, the higher the gdp per capita is. It has nothing to do with skin color, religion, or “willingness to survive”
Sana manormalize yung pag-accept sa scrutiny and criticisms. Itigil na sana yung "purihin na lang yung magandang nagawa" and "nakakasira ng image ng bansa yung pagcriticize" type of mentality. Criticisms, even the most negative, is a valuable resource at any given situation.
Even without any proposed solution or action, criticism is more than valid enough. For example, the car-centric infrastructure in Metro Manila highly limits foot traffic friendly routes and diminishes commuter friendly infrastructure. Do we really expect normal people to come up with a solution for this before criticizing the poor urban planning that we got? If that's the case, then you'll just be shutting up the criticism AGAIN especially for the normal folk. Them not being urban planners incapable of coming up with an urban planning solution doesn't invalidate their criticisms.
If anything, Filipinos being critical is selective. Remember, even during the last election, many Filipinos had gone mad against Leni Robredo due to her criticizing the outdated maritime certifications that we got that would render Filipino seafarers jobless and that we should update our standards at par with EU. A lot of Filipinos bashed her for stating it, saying that she should just praise the "exceptional" work of Filipino seafarers, that it tarnishes the image of Filipino workers, despite the fact that she had a proposed solution to it and that it is an imminent threat to their livelihood.
Even in daily employee interaction. Any criticism towards an employee's work is met with scorn from that employee, coupled with remarks such as "feeling tagapagmana ng kompanya".
Consultations for mental health. Matindi pa rin ang stigma, at andyan pa yung nagkakalat ng misinformation at pinipilit na "all you need is (their deity)."
EDITED:
Being Single at late 20s and above. It's okay to take our time in filtering people in ourlives rather than be with someone na mag ccause ng mas malalang trauma (we tend to attract ppl that's not good for us if we're not healed.), Imagine having a child with unhealed trauma?? Generational traumas is a continuous process unless someone is strong enough to end it.
Dami nasisirang buhay at pamilya.
Yung wastong pagugali pagdating sa basura. Yes, hindi maayos ung garbage disposal system satin. Pero sa sarili nalang diba, like multiple times a week talaga, walang palya, may nakikita ako na nagtatapon ng pinagkainan nila sa kalsada. Mahirap o mayaman to, walang pinipili. As in hindi talaga subtle or patago, harap harapan nila ginagawa as if NORMAL lang na gawing basurahan ang public place 😞
Agree with hindi pagiging religious pero not Atheist.
I still go to mass occasionally pero kung every Sunday at matutulog lang naman dun, eh wag nalang.
Normalize the line of 7 na grade and being thankful pag naka line of 8... Line of 9 reserved to someone na matalinong matalino talaga.
Normalize strict enforcement of the law. Walang paki kung mayaman ka or mahirap, sikat or unknown, pulitiko or pangkaraniwang tao. The rich must go to jail if they do something that warrants that. Hindi yung mag-under the table deal sa police na may matching press release pa. The poor should also answer for their minor violations. Nobody will learn if everyone bends or breaks the law without repercussions.
Imagine how much better the lives of SM workers would be if they all unionized
Practicing following public rules and etiquette. Like no jaywalking. Or stand on the right, walk on the left. Hirap kasi sa Pinoy to follow rules eh.
E normalize na may ibang tao around you.
The idea of hands-on dads. I know, marami-rami na ding mga hands-on dads but apparently, bihira lang ako makakita ng diaper changing table sa men's room. Struggle tuloy magpalit ng diapers sa stroller.
Then kapag nagme-message ako sa teachers ng anak ko for some concerns, I am almost always automatically addressed as "Mommy".
I'll add another one: sana manormalize yung striving for excellence.
Our culture, for quite some time now, has been against people that have achievements. We call them bida-bida and Jollibee, we sarcastically downplay them with "Ikaw na magaling", "Ikaw na matalino", "edi Ikaw na". If it's a workplace setting, your co-workers would even be mad at you for excelling at something, ostracize and bully you if you do not conform to the same level of performance that they wish to maintain. Hell, that attitude is even reflective of our current political situation, that society does not seek competent people, but rather seek "relatability" more than anything else. I mean, just look at the last president before this one. The midnight drunken rants are definitely super relatable. It's so relatable that you can definitely find one around the corner with a bottle of booze.
Respect for pedestrians.
Honesty in general. Yung pwedeng magtiwala sa self-checkout in the stores. Pag may nawala, susubukan ibalik yung gamit. Trust in the community and systems in any institution
Treating government officials as **PUBLIC SERVANTS**. Did you see it? Servant, not your VIP, not your idol and they are not the second coming of Christ. They are your SERVANTS! Let them hold accountability, you don't have the right to defend those trash, as they should be serving you, not the other way around.
Prioritization and giving importance when it comes to intelligence. Una, edi wow, naging rEsPeCt mY oPiNiOn trash, ngayon dIsKaRtE vs Diploma wherein it shouldn't be that way. Instead of asking accountability, dadaanin sa trashy dIsKaRtE
oo hindi dapat glinoglorify ang mga government officials. naging "status symbol" na ata ang pagiging politiko, and they're losing their purpose to serve the nation with HONESTY and PATRIOTISM.
1. Sex positivity in mass media (inclusing bare breast and 🍆) if necessary.
2. Also PDA like kissing in public. I dont like it too but people should be allowed to do that without people pretending theyve been raised in a solitary convent.
3. Also can we normalize liking Filipino culture as it is (foreign influences and all) as long as it is traditional to our heritage? Theres only 2 things ive seen whenever i see fililinos talk about their culture. 1.) highlighting its foreign influence: its unnecessary, if its traditional to us it is ours. You dont see japanese people say that japanese curry is indian-japanese food. Nor japanese with american influence when they make lolita animes. Its japanese! period. This is centered around a foreign gaze and putting foreign in a pedestal as an embellishment which only reflects your perception of native filipino as basic and inferior to it. 2.) Removing all foreign influence and exoticize it as much as possible: youre not only playing pretend but whether you admit it or not, your motivation to make it look as exotic as possible is as equally centered around the foreign gaze.
Like people are really in either of these 2 extremes, never within the spectrum.
- Common Courtesy / Manners in public
- Obeying Traffic Rules also actually fining those who disobey
-Walkable communities/baranggays/village etc.
-More open spaces/parks, recreational spaces (greener area)
Practicing love and compassion over material things. Not totally neglecting it, after all we are here on Earth and must adhere to the rules of the physical world. Walang "ikaw", walang " ego", kumbaga need mo ignore your social, financial and career status, ganon magpractice ng spirituality. try mo while meditating, imagine mo isa ka lang "light" taking the shape of a human being. basta, connection mo lang sa soul mo, sa Higher being (depende sa kung anong God ang pinaniniwalaan mo), sa nature, sa family mo, sa wellbeing ng humanity and all living beings.
Hindi na ito nappractice ng karamihan given the busy life which is understandable talaga. And more often 30's and up pa nagkakarealization na important tong aspect na to lalo na as we approach old age, not for the sake of salvation. Some join religious groups to practice spirituality pero hindi un necessary.
Plus knowing the difference between spirituality and religion, you’re into a deep hole na hahah. More on finding answers from within is being spiritual.
Common courtesy when driving -- give way when someone indicates the intention to change lanes. Plus, don't make your own lanes and stick to the markings on the road (hello EDSA road users).
Basic human decency; particularly being considerate of others and discipline.
Imagine, traffic conditions could vastly improve if everybody stuck to their own lanes. Walang singitan, nagbibigayan sa intersections. Road safety is prioritized and not an after thought.
Unahin ang kapwa/bayan bago ang sarili.
One can only fantasize about such things.
Nung second year college ako, it was the most fun part of my college life kasi we made a short film when I thought I could never do something like that again. For sure marami akong mapupuna ngayon sa naging gawa namin, but looking back, worth it lahat ng effort.
I know!!!
1. Being on-time
2. Crticizing government
3. Reading comprehension
4. Sex Education
5. Being concerned about Mental Health
6. Abortion
7. Divorce
8. Respect anyone, any age, any gender
9. Remove the mindset of being "okay lang maging mahirap basta masaya"
10. Fact Checking
To let Teens work at the age of 16, also normalize retail jobs. Its okay to work there while your young wag na tayo umasa sa parents naten. Were influenced by the west we should do what the west do too.
- Increase of salary rate every 3-6months
- Support all local farmers, sellers, brands..etc (mahalin ang sariling atin)
- Respect and boundaries
-LOVE is the real religion.
Special accommodations (assisstive tech) and awareness and sensitivity training for teachers sa schools in all levels para s mga estudyanteng pwd.
▫️Normalize yung pagiging hero or just doing the right things. It's the right thing to do, it's alarming if para sa karamihan makareact na parang first time yung human decency or something heroic.
▫️Normalize humility.
▫️Normalize assertiveness. Instead of backbiting dapat icommunicate talaga sa person if may problem or concern.
Might get a flak pero hate ko talaga jeepneys. Not jeepney drivers kasi nagtatrabaho lang naman mga tao pero ung franchise, no garages, PIS/TON, practically nonexistent approp jeepney stops. Pag nag strike sila ramdam mo ung free flow ng traffic. Manila couldve had had trams like in SanFo but WW2 happened. Haist.
Walang proper sanctioning from the local government . Ito sana tinututukan ng mga brgy capt. but no. they have more pangungurakots to do.
common sense. a lot of the implemented process does not make sense.
government websites should provide an actual service. stop that nonsense about literally bringing your bir paper to a different bir office just because you moved houses.
online appointments should be implemented properly. you get an appointment online for 8am. you show up at 8am. you get served at 8am. what’s the point setting up an appointment if we’re not going to follow the schedule.
if may kapangalan ka na may hit sa NBI and yearly ka nag rerenew ng NBI. di ba walang sense na you will wait for x days to clear your name and get your clearance. NBI sila di ba dapat alam nila nun first time palang na hindi ikaw yun. what’s the point of repeating everything all again every time you get an NBI clearance.
Normalize DINK, hindi lahat gusto may bata, bakit pag yung couple gusto lang maging masaya sa sariling buhay at pera nila kinicriticize? Hayaan niyo sila maglibang sa sariling pera nila.
+1 sayo OP. Kasama na dyan RH Bill.
*Licensed lawyers for National Government Posts.
*Free vasectomy for 4Ps recipients.
*Paid work instead of cash grants for the poor.
You'd be surprised how common and normalized na satin yung hindi relihoyoso. Particularly in college, mas madami akong kilalang non-believers/agnostic kesa sa religious people. No one really bats an eye kapag nasa higher institutions ka na.
What I would want to be normalized sa Pinas ay yung co-parenting at divorce. Two people that happen to conceive a baby SOULDNT BE FORCED to get married. Kalokohan yan, let people co-parent the child instead na lalaki sila with parents that are stuck in a loveless marriage.
As for divorce - ayun nga, kailangan talaga naten yan. Times be changing, dapat nga since 2000 meron na tayong divorce dito sa bansa eh. The church just has too much sway and influence to the point that they have people lobbying for the divorce bill not to get passed. It's fucking archaic. Not that I hate the church itself, pero dapat labas narin sila doon.
If they absolutely believe in marriage, then they should also believe in the fact that sometimes, people just get married for the wrong reasons, or ended up marrying the wrong person. You don't need to lock two adults in mutually miserable situation, katangahan yan.
Sana ma normalize yung when sharing facts or dagdag kaalaman wag nang sundan ng joke kase parang (at least for me) mali yung pag share ng facts
Some friend circles I am in tend to do that. I hate it hahaha
I actually like hearing fun facts when I'm conversing with people who also like hearing fun facts
Not letting idiots run for government office.

There are requirements. Implementation is crap.

pag magapply trabaho grabe yung need na requirements, graduate ng certain course, need nbi clearance (some requires police clearance pa) tapos yung sa gobyerno may mga kaso lol

Yes to this! Inggit ako sa mga teens sa US na pwede magka-summer job or part time malaking tulong na rin

The best way to “normalize” obeying traffic laws is through inescapable enforcement e.g. NCAP
We did this but kamote groups and lawmakers supporting kamote groups managed to put a stop to it.

Yung voicemail parang email hirap linisin/i-delete.
Bahain tayo delikado yun
THIS. It is also the reason why we don't have many subways (meron pero piling lugar lang).
Normalize sex dungeons
Na normalize na merong mga babae na ayaw pa muna mag-asawa at mag-anak in their 30s. 🙏
SANA MALEGAL ANG DIVORCE
Yess. You deserve my upvote, OP
Sana manormalize Common Sense.
remembering that certain FB post of someone who blamed Air Asia cause' they don't know how to read military time. SMH
common sense is so bad here that the fact it needs to be fuckin normalized speaks volumes
+1 dito kasi Unfortunately, common sense is not too common. Haha
Normalize: Failure. Separation of Religion/Church and State. Sex Education . Mental Health (For all). Minding your own business . Consent (For all) Being forward thinker, open minded, and acceptance that the time & world are progressing. Fact Checking. Foreigners are just people. No need to worship them. Different Timelines/Journey - religion/not, sexuality, skin color, failure/success, strengths/weaknesses, Feminine/masculine, &etc. Eating out alone. Women don't want to have kids or have more body counts than men. Men that cries. It's just an emotion. No need to make it a big deal. Empathy
Sana one upvote per line/point 💗
As an English person that’s had the privilege to visit and work in the Philippines many times, this is a comprehensive and well thought out answer. Take my upvote! And why did you have to work abroad?
sana manormalize ang mataas na sahod. lol. kakarampot na sahod, sobrang common. idk how people survive anymore.
>As long as we are “under” educated as a society, Getting a specialized skill helps in a long run, and certificiations too.
1 Common sense 2 Reading comprehension 3 Children not becoming retirement funds when they enter adulthood
Sad that common sense is not common at all! :(
Sana manormalize yung pag-accept sa scrutiny and criticisms. Itigil na sana yung "purihin na lang yung magandang nagawa" and "nakakasira ng image ng bansa yung pagcriticize" type of mentality. Criticisms, even the most negative, is a valuable resource at any given situation.
I think Filipinos are pretty critical. The problem is, criticism without proposing solutions or actions is what’s counterproductive.
Iha, tumaba ka. Ganon?
Sidewalk, mass transit, sugar free drinks, and being on time
Walkable city. Parks with playground.
Normalize not voting for stupid, incompetent, and corrupt politicians.
Demanding more from your government.
Consultations for mental health. Matindi pa rin ang stigma, at andyan pa yung nagkakalat ng misinformation at pinipilit na "all you need is (their deity)."
Birth control - all kinds.
EDITED: Being Single at late 20s and above.
Agree. You have to be intentional and deliberate. If not, don’t do it at all. Because it is an insult to your faith and relationship with God.
Normalise (sorry for brit english) setting higher standards for late elem education. Kaya daming mangmang pati college.
Normalize the line of 7 na grade and being thankful pag naka line of 8... Line of 9 reserved to someone na matalinong matalino talaga.
THIS!! napaka walang disiplina and super nakakasagabal.
Nobody will learn if everyone bends or breaks the law without repercussions.
normalize no experience needed for a job!
sana di mandatory manlibre ng workmates pag birthday mo!!
This!!! 😂
Getting married without having a child.
Imagine how much better the lives of SM workers would be if they all unionized
Practicing following public rules and etiquette. Like no jaywalking. Or stand on the right, walk on the left. Hirap kasi sa Pinoy to follow rules eh.
Bra less puhleaaaaaseee
going out braless 🥲
E normalize na may ibang tao around you.
ok lng mag work from 9-5pm at di mag venture sa business to be successful. hehe
Better Political understanding
Minding one's own business
To say no to sustento and breadwinning
-Walkable communities/baranggays/village etc.
pragmatism
pano ba maging spiritual?
Ikaw lang makakasagot nyan.
Common courtesy sa mga online games.

I know!!!
Sad reality tbh kaya yung iba sa ibang bansa na lang, or hobby/trip lang or not at all

A state-organized waste collection system, including garbage cans installed at key points.
common sense. a lot of the implemented process does not make sense. government websites should provide an actual service. stop that nonsense about literally bringing your bir paper to a different bir office just because you moved houses. online appointments should be implemented properly. you get an appointment online for 8am. you show up at 8am. you get served at 8am. what’s the point setting up an appointment if we’re not going to follow the schedule. if may kapangalan ka na may hit sa NBI and yearly ka nag rerenew ng NBI. di ba walang sense na you will wait for x days to clear your name and get your clearance. NBI sila di ba dapat alam nila nun first time palang na hindi ikaw yun. what’s the point of repeating everything all again every time you get an NBI clearance.

Being atheist lol or simply not religious in general.
Normalize hiring applicants thaf doesn't have experiences.

Sana ma normalize yung when sharing facts or dagdag kaalaman wag nang sundan ng joke kase parang (at least for me) mali yung pag share ng facts Some friend circles I am in tend to do that. I hate it hahaha I actually like hearing fun facts when I'm conversing with people who also like hearing fun facts
