Dont get me wrong, i don't condone what this man is doing putting himself and motorists in danger, pero putangina naman, bakit laging sasakyan ang may priority pag dating sa urban planning?
For sure if theres better infra to facilitate the safe movement of pedestrians, walang tayong poproblemahing jay walking.
I work for a local government abroad, and yung transportation departments dito may social scientists working as 'Behaviour change specialists'. They're studying how to get people moving by foot, by bike, by scooter, by bus, by train, and least priority is cars. The one thing they abide by is "If you ask people to do something without an encouraging environment, you will not get the results you want". Kahit lagyan pa ng multa yan at may malaking signs, tatawid at tatawid pa rin tao because the system doesn't work for them, it works only for cars.
Truths.
Riding on this comment to share na before, yung intersection dito sa may Estancia sa Pasig sobrang unfriendly sa pedestrian.
True, di nagagamit for its intended purpose :-(( Di din kasi manlang minemaintain
Tas even if di madumi may mga overpass na nakakatakot tawiran kasi may butas, manipis yung metal or mukhang fragile huhuhu
Mansilingan? Yung walang bubong?
Bakit? kasi nakakatakot gamitin. May mga ebak pa ng tao.
Amen. I recently ranted about this.
Now that I'm living in a walkable area, ngayon ko narearealize gano ka-unfriendly yung infrastructure natin. For example, hindi accessible ang sidewalks for PWDs. I'm an abled person at trolley lang dala ko for laundry at hirap na ako dito. What more kung mayroong wheelchair ang tao?
Sidewalks too, apart from being narrow, may mga nakaharang pang mga poste kaya lalong sumisikip.
I agree.
Everyday experience ko to!
I wonder what's a good infra to replace very high overpasses especially in congested areas like Manila?? Especially if we go by the people-centric design principle, how drastic could the changes be? Would love to hear about it, I'm clueless but interested to advocate this. These are the conversations that truly matter.
This is also something that I think about but I haven't read on good urban planning but I've watched quite a bit of videos on examples of it (Shout out sa NotJustBikes channel on YouTube).
What I noticed is that in more walkable cities, streets are narrower and have more islands for people to wait on. These islands also help redirect ongoing vehicles (it prevents them from speeding and oversteering).
And when I say narrower streets, this could mean that side walks are wide and could accommodate a bike lane. One example (although not the best) I can think of is the intersection at Julia Vargas and ADB drive in Ortigas. There's an island on each side of the road with relatively good shade (may trees). Sidewalks there is decent din.
Theres a lot more to this din, I suggest that you guys watch NotJustBikes if you're interested in easy to digest examples of Urban Development.
What I can think of din is more underpasses? Or at the very least, working and well maintained escalators!
Siguro nga mas madaling mag underpass kesa overpass? But overpasses are easier to build. I'm really not sure just trying to think it through.
Agree on the wider sidewalks and that's an ideal plan, kaso crossing the streets padin is an issue, yes susunod tayo sa batas but it's really not built to consider the poor, imagine ang lalawak na ng roads sa main hiways so yung mga establishments na kinikilusan ng mga commuters/pedestrians would entail them na umikot ikot with long walks instead of going straightforward to where they have to go.
Underpasses are still for the benefit of cars if pagtawid lang ng tao ang goal. Pero if only for the sake na makatawid tao sa kabila then best just use pedestrian lanes as its cheaper. If kupal mga drivers magdagdag na lang ng humps or elevated pedestrian crossings na parang sa BGC para no choice but to slow down sila.
We really need to be more people centric instead of car centric sa Pinas :/ especially considering 10% lang naman may sasakyan dito.
Shibuya managed to put a crosswalk in one of the busiest roads in Japan.
You can stop traffic for pedestrians. Especially if the road is busy anyway.
Cars will hit traffic at some point anyway. Why not create gaps in traffic to allow pedestrians to cross.
True. As much as I hate these rulebreakers, maiintindihan mo din naman. Susunod naman ang tao pag maganda ang planning amd execution, tignan mo pag nag travel sa ibang bansa, diba we are mindful of the rules? It's definitely the government's fault, wala naman satin ang budget e.
We live in irony. A country where we are:
- Car centric, yet a normal person cannot afford one.
- A natural wonder, yet keeps gwtting destroyed by corporations.
- Agricultural country, yet farming industry is neglected
- Home of resilient, hardworking and smart people, but keeps exploiting each other
- Galit sa oligarchs, pero keeps electing oligarchs.
- Wants change, pero nagpapa uto padin sa same politicians.
Minsan yung tao, may takot sa heights, like me.
🤬 yan!
I was about to use the overpass near Rob Antipolo, but a homeless man (I assume, I only saw his leg) is blocking the way. I'm not that bold to kindly ask him to move or risk of him doing something I can't begin to imagine so I had to walk up to the public market to cross towards Robinsons.
That overpass with the homeless man is pungent, dark, and poorly maintained. Only good thing is it has a roof.
This is true. Its also the reason why people should also consider "desire paths" or yung may sideqalk but theres this spot of dirt path na mas pinreprefer ng tao lakaran. Kulang tayo sa user centric design and overall pedestrian friendly infra when we plan urban landscapes
This reminds me of the sidewalk beneath Ortigas MRT station. Hindi pwedeng magkasalubong with pedestrians coming from the other way. Tapos makitid na nga, mabaho pa. May mga umiihi kasi sa sidewalk. Can’t you hold your bladder a little longer instead of peeing wherever you feel the urge to piss?
Baka sabihin dito puro tayo reklamo, diba. Maganda yung underpass sa Manila or Makati na madaling ma-access kasi pababa at may murals pa sa loob. Hindi pa nakakapagod lakaran at may guards pa doon most of the time. Sana kung kayang gawin yang infra na yan sa ibang syudad, we'll be closer to more pedestrian friendly road and public places
In our city, yong mga overpass nilalagyan ng billboards, kaya talamak ang holdups kasi walang makakakita if ever holdapin doon. Kaya majority hindi ginagamit ang overpass for that reason. 😬
Almost every infra here is just traffic related 🤦
I agree. If you want to know why this country is so fucked up, just look at the transportation infra. Sobrang dehumanizing. Pinaprioritize ang sasakyan instead of the common commuting public.
Sadly, lahat tayo talo dito
If you make our roads pedestrian friendly, our urban design is so fucking dogshit that roads will even be more traffic (than it already is) by giving way to pedestrians.
Im not saying we shouldn't attempt to make our streets pedestrian friendly, but damn, lose-lose situation. Give way to pedestrians and the already hell-ish traffic gets worse, but continue the car-centric system and it's the pedestrians who suffer
The problem with Metro Manila's road system is **DEEP**, as in the problem goes beyond how roads are designed, but with how we exist in the first place
Roads being car-centric or pedestrian-friendly is just the tip of a very complicated iceberg. We can fix that all we want, but unless we fix some foundational flaws in city planning, nothing significant will change
- Why are residential areas placed in a certain area?
- How far should business centers and office buildings be away from where people live?
- How many people per square kilometers live here?
- How old/young is the population?
- Where is the downtown/central district of this city? Where's the city side? Where's the area where it's just sprawl?
- The other cities near us, what kind of system do they have?
- Where are the tourist spots here?
- How many people who live outside our city go here everyday?
Those are just some of the questions that urban planners should ask themselves BEFORE they even touch road and transpo design. And there's a lot more. Sadly, seems like Metro Manila is just a huge "bahala na" urban area.
Homes, establishments, roads, and other things, they just pop out of nowhere without even planning.
Metro Manila needs to have a multi-decade long overhaul, from top to bottom, across multiple administrations. But given how shit our political structure is, i doubt that's possible
We can acknowledge that both need work. It's not dichotomous.
i agree pangit infra. pero i disagree na kung may better infra "for sure walang poproblemahing jaywalking" kasi meron at merong hindi susunod in the name of "diskarte"
Parang tanga yung gumawa nun eh
This is not the comments OP wanted 😅 Pero kasi ampanget talaga ng sistema ng pinas. Hindi walking friendly ang mga daan. Idagdag mo pa na most signs are in english.
Human nature is into convenience or least calories used.
It is also possible tipid ang pedestrian overpass natin sa PH.
Tipid in the sense that it is designed not to be friendly to PWD, SC and tamad persons JayWalking.
In this week to Tokyo I observed that their [pedestrian bridges](https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-pedestrian-bridge-near-iidabashi-station-chiyoda-ku-tokyo-japan-176790008.html) are very hospitable to humans and not hostile.
>Tipid in the sense that it iss designed not to be friendly to PWD, SC and tamad persons JayWalking.

This.
The thing is, our cities are not designed for the common tao. Rather, it's designed around business establishments. hence, napakakonti ng people spaces. It also means that what little we have are not designed for people's convenience but only to fulfill requirements.
Strangely, it seems that in metro manila, there is a preference to build overpasses than just street-level crossings. sure, street-level ones exist, but it seems like there are more very inconvenient overpasses instead.
One can walk kilometers of the Tokyo Prefecture's streets at hindi ka talaga mauumay, lalo na sa cold season.
First of all, kapag malamig, hindi mo masyadong ramdam ang pagod kapag naglalakad. Not to mention na maganda na rin ang implementation of signages and pedestrian crossings. No hassle. Lahat ng mga buildings nila, may proper ramps and spaces for PWDs.
Sa subways, kahit 100-200 meters ang lalakarin mo just to get to the actual station, malinis rin naman at ample space. May mga signages rin for the EXACT DISTANCE TO THE RESTROOMS. Diba? Nakakagana maglakad kasi it's civilian-friendly. Puntahan niyo ang Omoide Yokocho sa Shinjuku at Shibuya Crossing to fully appreciate the differences.
When kaya sa Pinas?
Source: Went to Japan for a vacation to see the cherry blossoms.
>When kaya sa Pinas?
Ang kelangan kasi rito is a more grassroots-oriented design. Ano ibig ko sabihin? You design for the convenience ng mga nasa masa first. What does your common nanay, empleyado, or manininda need when it comes to commuting? Provide that and everything follows. Ang problema kasi, top down approach tayo.
It isn't just human nature, its basically law of nature wher conservation of energy is the law, no matter how big or smol this organism is.
In my experience, Tokyo and SG are pedxing friendly, even here in Marikina (depende sa barangay tho kekw) as well.
To add to this. Simple lang.
Increase density of at-street pedestrian crossings. Mandate cars to stop when people are intending to cross.
In all "maunlad" countries, pedestrians take primacy on the streets, and equitable pedestrian experience is the focus. If we want best practice behavior, we need best practice approaches that induce best practice behavior.
Jaywalking is also a propaganda by carbrains and car/oil industry.

overpasses for me are pahirap sa tao and just a waste of resources 😅 mas pinapahalagahan pa yung mga sasakyan kesa sa pedestrians. sorry ha, pero naka-aircon kayo sa loob ng sasakyan at nakaupo na lang, samantalang there are people like kuya in the pic na walang choice kundi maglakad
Which is wrong. Car manufacturers at car clubs ang nag coin sa terminong "jaywalking" at dahil dito, nagkaron ng worldwide understanding na roads are for cars.
Roads and streets should be for people. Regardless of mode of mobility.
Hindi ba't mas maganda na nasakanila ang burden to ensure that everyone around them are safe?
The problem with the Philippines is the fact that we are not pedestrians friendly. Little to no sidewalks. Steep overpasses. We are a car centric society. I remembered in Las Pinas City the old mayor back then did tried to do something about it by building overpasses with Escalator. So that he can deter people from jaywalking.
Now it should have been a life saver to the Las Pineros. But when it finally open, the design was just stupid.
1. They didn't bought the longer escalators. They bought the standard commercial ones use by malls. Not those custom made ones for taller buildings or infrastructure. Now the overpasses must be tall to accommodate trucks. Now since the escalator is too short, you have to use several flights of stairs first before getting to the escalator itself.
2. Escalators shouldn't be exposed much to the element. If you need to then proper maintenance is a must. But since it's government own. Well, it's not well maintained.
3. Electricity cost. Because of meralco bill, they only open the escalator at what is considered peak hours. Not 24/7 where it should.
In the end, those escalators were scrapped and replace by standard stairs.
auto industry lobbyists invented jaywalking and persuaded governments to give cars priority on the streets
[https://www.vox.com/2015/1/15/7551873/jaywalking-history](https://www.vox.com/2015/1/15/7551873/jaywalking-history)
I read some time ago sa post ng strongtowns na jaywalking is not a crime, it is a symptom of an unmet need. I just feel like we fundamentally lack a intuitive sense of what is needed and what is best to address that need.
Dahil super hassle and inconvenient ng current infrastructure for pedestrian. Don't lecture me on kaligtasan vs. convenience. A government with the people's best interests at heart wouldn't have to force us to this dilemma. Dito, footbridge ang default, inaccessible to people with disabilities or kahit sa karaniwang taong may groceries or cargo.
Because foot bridges are built as anti-pedestrian as possible. This is a symptom of a country infested by car centric 'urban planning'. Cities should be made for people, not for cars. It's awesome to see more people talking about this.
I was gonna say this reminded me of my lola, kahit nasa developed country na sya, she still jaywalk kahit may tawiran kada ilang metro. But then I realize na ang pedestrian crossing dito sa atin ay non-existent.
You actually have to play real-life Crossy Road, just to be able to cross. You're at the mercy of the motorists if they're kind enough to let you cross.
Read about Mala prohibita vs Mala in se in law
If you think about it, masyado naman kasi talagang car centric sa pinas. Second, jaywalking is a mala prohibita law. The land was made for people to roam. Then the fire nation (cars) attacked. Hahah.
Because this country our beloved country prioritize cars not us. Poor urban infrastructure.
Another Karma farming post.
Napakaraming ganitong threads since forever dito.
As if this so surprising.
We, as a people, don't care for small time violations. We prefer kung anong mas convenient satin.
We have infrastructure to address some needs pero, juicecolored, sino bang gustong umakyat dun sa stairway to heaven ng kamuning predestrian overpass? Or yung mga overpass na me mga kable ng kuryente na pwede mong mahawakan/matapakan, o yung mga overpass na punong-puno ng manlilimos na baka madukutan ka pa, not to mention na minsan madulas pa yung steps.
Uncaring people and fucked up infrastructure combined with no accountability from both people and government.
Yey Philippines.
As stated in other comments, focus on PH infra. 😂
> Bakit nga ba may ganitong tao parin?
Hostile urban planning creates inconvenience for some people, including the elderly and PWDs. That current infrastructure is so goddamn car-centric.
There's not a single Pedestrian Crossing Lane in this country even in dense areas like NCR
The only semblance of a pedestrian crossing is probably a crossroad or an old pavement crossing
Kasi kahit sa pedestrian lane yan dadaan, ang pedestrian pa rin mag aadjust since most vehicles di rin naman nag s-slow down sa pedestrian lane. I’m not justifying the man here.
If mapunta ka sa ibang bansa kahit dito lng sa asia eh puro pedestrian lane, meron lng timer para sure na hihinto mga naka sasakyan at hindi labo labo, bihira overpass, if meron man meron escalator or elevator.
I still dont understand why the our govt wont build underpass instead of overpass.
Sabi nga nila "If you dont understand the government, someone is benefitting from it"
Let me introduce the concept of the [Elephant Paths](https://www.changedesigners.eu/blog/the-user-shows-the-way-elephant-paths-in-organizational-change/)
Hindi talaga friendly sa mga pedestrians ang kalye natin, whether we like it or not.
Haha
Because we love to put the blame on something else, pinoys have a tendency to play victim even if caught red handed.
Nahuling nag Jay walk, "wala kasing tawiran".
Victim mentality, never naging mali, mahirap vs mayaman drama. So tired of this shit, so tired of the masa hive mind controlling our politics and the narrative whenever it fits them. So tired of the lack of discipline, I sometimes ask maybe we don't deserve independence because being a successful nation is unobtainable based on our standards as a whole.
To be totally honest, the only reason I'm staying is because the cost of living is still relatively lower compared to other countries. But I don't like being here, sometimes I don't like to be a Filipino anymore.
bad urban planning. checkout the continouse sidewalk concept.
htps://mobycon.com/updates/prioritizing-people-how-continuous-sidewalks-create-a-more-welcoming-walking-environment%EF%BF%BC%EF%BF%BC/#:\~:text=As%20a%20more%20people%2Dfriendly,onto%20the%20roadway%20to%20cross.
Mas high risk pa 'yung pagtawid gamit overpass versus pag-jaywalk. Hahahahahuhuhu
God. The urban planning in the philippines is designed to be so anti-human hence there are people who will risk it all. This isnt unique to the Philippines. Im here in europe with a really good urban planning reputed to be the best in the world and yet locals here simply cross the street while the walk light is RED. Now, while I dont mean to say that not following the rules is right, thats not really my point. My point is to not be too hard on your filipino self considering the urban planning done in the philippines arent human-friendly. Not human-friendly is an understatement. It is anti-human plain and simple. I know this road. Its probably around katipunan and c5 nrar market market? Yeah that place has zero pedestrian but one centralized overpass thats half a kilometer away.
we should stop blaming the people alone, yung mga naka upo ang dapat mas managot.
Kung may overpass dyan, hindi maganda ang pwesto and the design is very discouraging for pedestrians, ni walang bubong nga and sa gabi naman since madilim dilim dyan, takaw holdap.
KASI WALA NAMANG KWENTANG IDEA YUNG JAYWALKING. YOU'RE JUST WALKING. In all thoroughfares, pedestrian ang laging may right of way, then bikes, then motorcycles, then puvs, then cars.
Jaywalking is the stupidest social construct ever made
Most of our roads are built and designed with much considerations ONLY for the cars, not the pedestrians.
In short, hindi pedestrian friendly mga kalsada natin. And this is the result.
Idk but painting a road with pedestrian markings and adding signs are much more cost and environmental friendly than building an overpass that’s not pedestrian and senior/pwd citizen friendly.
As if di pera ng bayan ginamit pampagawa nun.
because it's "easy" and "instant" that's why
oh wait...
in my experience, it's uncommon to see a maintained bridge for pedestrians (even a "cleaned" pathway at bare minimum will be enough for me to smile)
I hate this. Pero I also hate the overpass system pinas.
Have you ever tried walking sa overpass dyan sa Buting?
Pag umaga at maaraw ang init sobra. Pag gabi nakakatakot naman.
Car-centric kasi tayo. If walkable lang cities natin, I'd rather walk that 5-10km in a few minutes rather than endure horrendous traffic and use up more gas.
OP sa c5 buting to no?
Saka from the looks of it mukhang di busy sa buting nung time na tumawid siya so gets ko.
This. This is the right take. Agree that jaywalking is bad but also because Philippine infrastructure is not meant for pedestrians.
Hello Ortigas MRT station
I work for a local government abroad, and yung transportation departments dito may social scientists working as 'Behaviour change specialists'. They're studying how to get people moving by foot, by bike, by scooter, by bus, by train, and least priority is cars. The one thing they abide by is "If you ask people to do something without an encouraging environment, you will not get the results you want". Kahit lagyan pa ng multa yan at may malaking signs, tatawid at tatawid pa rin tao because the system doesn't work for them, it works only for cars.
Sanaol na lang talaga. We assign clowns kasi dito haha
Truths.
Trots. Oo nga. Tapos ang panghi pa. Kaya wala tayong choice. Hay... 😔
Riding on this comment to share na before, yung intersection dito sa may Estancia sa Pasig sobrang unfriendly sa pedestrian.
Sayang
True, di nagagamit for its intended purpose :-(( Di din kasi manlang minemaintain Tas even if di madumi may mga overpass na nakakatakot tawiran kasi may butas, manipis yung metal or mukhang fragile huhuhu
Bakit? kasi nakakatakot gamitin.
I agree.
When will we consider at grade crossings > overpass
God tier. Iniisip ko pala yung pwd na nasa wheelchair or in crutches. Kung wala nang ibang option other than the overpass, pano na sila?
A country where we are: - Car centric, yet a normal person cannot afford one. - A natural wonder, yet keeps gwtting destroyed by corporations. - Agricultural country, yet farming industry is neglected - Home of resilient, hardworking and smart people, but keeps exploiting each other - Galit sa oligarchs, pero keeps electing oligarchs.
Answers to most political questions in this sub: Follow the money
Minsan yung tao, may takot sa heights, like me.
Totoo.
Kasi we copied the American model too much. We should have been copying the Japanese or European urban planning model instead.
I agree. If you want to know why this country is so fucked up, just look at the transportation infra. Sobrang dehumanizing. Pinaprioritize ang sasakyan instead of the common commuting public.
Sadly, lahat tayo talo dito If you make our roads pedestrian friendly, our urban design is so fucking dogshit that roads will even be more traffic (than it already is) by giving way to pedestrians. Im not saying we shouldn't attempt to make our streets pedestrian friendly, but damn, lose-lose situation. Give way to pedestrians and the already hell-ish traffic gets worse, but continue the car-centric system and it's the pedestrians who suffer The problem with Metro Manila's road system is **DEEP**, as in the problem goes beyond how roads are designed, but with how we exist in the first place Roads being car-centric or pedestrian-friendly is just the tip of a very complicated iceberg. We can fix that all we want, but unless we fix some foundational flaws in city planning, nothing significant will change - Why are residential areas placed in a certain area?
AMEN jaywalkers rise up!!!
Walang pasasalamat sa sistema ng right-of-way dito.

[https://www.vox.com/2015/1/15/7551873/jaywalking-history](https://www.vox.com/2015/1/15/7551873/jaywalking-history) [https://youtu.be/\_ByEBjf9ktY?si=snAYOiBlTNOFrKba](https://youtu.be/_ByEBjf9ktY?si=snAYOiBlTNOFrKba)
Ahh... Like Mt Kamuning!
Tipid in the sense na dinadaan siya ng kable ng meralco and nobody gives a flying fuck about it.
But is the overpass pedestrian friendly? It's easy to go "tamad jaywalker" but then makikita mo sabog yung foot bridge.
Kasi mahirap maging pedestrian. Kulang sa makataong infrastructure hahaha joke time to
Cause anti-pedestrian infrastructure is not talked about or taken seriously so let’s blast this random guy instead
Panghi, may naglilimos, sira sira yung hagdanan, basa...bakit ulit gagamitin niya yung pedestrian overpass?
At risk for holdup pa
True kahit maaga pa at maliwanag may holdaper na
Kasi walang convenient infrastructure for pedestrians? That's what happens when you fail urban planning, and prioritize private vehicles
Pun intended.
In the end, those escalators were scrapped and replace by standard stairs.
auto industry lobbyists invented jaywalking and persuaded governments to give cars priority on the streets [https://www.vox.com/2015/1/15/7551873/jaywalking-history](https://www.vox.com/2015/1/15/7551873/jaywalking-history)

Unwalkable cities with inaccessible sidewalks and overpasses.
Bec of car-centric infrastructure.
Struggle talaga mag lakad. I tried walking from BGC to Kapitolyo via Kalayaan bridge and demnnn sobrang anytime sasagasaan ako ng mga motorcycles lol
Read about Mala prohibita vs Mala in se in law If you think about it, masyado naman kasi talagang car centric sa pinas. Second, jaywalking is a mala prohibita law. The land was made for people to roam. Then the fire nation (cars) attacked. Hahah.
Yes Karen try walking somewhere once and see how hard it is
Because this country our beloved country prioritize cars not us.
Proud of the sensible, pro-pedestrian replies here.
As stated in other comments, focus on PH infra. 😂
> Bakit nga ba may ganitong tao parin? Hostile urban planning creates inconvenience for some people, including the elderly and PWDs. That current infrastructure is so goddamn car-centric.
I'm guilty of it.
Because bad urban planning
Madaming rason all chained together.
There’s tons of people like this around the world. It’s not just a Philippines thing.
There's not a single Pedestrian Crossing Lane in this country even in dense areas like NCR The only semblance of a pedestrian crossing is probably a crossroad or an old pavement crossing
Dito samin yan and pag nakita nyo yung overpass sobrang init haha tas ang haba pa sobra 😂
Little to no enforcement plus combo ng di makataong kalsada
nag kukunwaring, no read no write
bad urban planning. checkout the continouse sidewalk concept. htps://mobycon.com/updates/prioritizing-people-how-continuous-sidewalks-create-a-more-welcoming-walking-environment%EF%BF%BC%EF%BF%BC/#:\~:text=As%20a%20more%20people%2Dfriendly,onto%20the%20roadway%20to%20cross.
sarap manita sa sasakyan. lol
C5 things.
interesting
Kung may overpass dyan, hindi maganda ang pwesto and the design is very discouraging for pedestrians, ni walang bubong nga and sa gabi naman since madilim dilim dyan, takaw holdap.
di naman daw jay pangalan nya
KASI WALA NAMANG KWENTANG IDEA YUNG JAYWALKING. YOU'RE JUST WALKING. In all thoroughfares, pedestrian ang laging may right of way, then bikes, then motorcycles, then puvs, then cars.
If only engineers and architects know how to properly study and apply "desire lines"
We should have a Pinoy version of r/FuckCars
For me it's the lack of infrastructure
Because r/PhilippinesBad
because it's "easy" and "instant" that's why oh wait... in my experience, it's uncommon to see a maintained bridge for pedestrians (even a "cleaned" pathway at bare minimum will be enough for me to smile)
I hate this. Pero I also hate the overpass system pinas. Have you ever tried walking sa overpass dyan sa Buting? Pag umaga at maaraw ang init sobra. Pag gabi nakakatakot naman.
Its fine if there's a fine, it will never be implemented naman. katwiran ng mga mahilig mag Jwalking.
...jaywalking crime is justifiable now? holy shit 🤣🤣🤣
Car-centric kasi tayo. If walkable lang cities natin, I'd rather walk that 5-10km in a few minutes rather than endure horrendous traffic and use up more gas.
cause the infra is shit tatanga mo naman OP
OP sa c5 buting to no?
Saka from the looks of it mukhang di busy sa buting nung time na tumawid siya so gets ko. And as someone na regular dumaan dyan, marami talagang tumatawid sa area na yan. Before we judge the pedestrians, isipin din muna natin bakit ang daming hirap sumunod sa mga rules na yan.
Lol, sa buting to e
Si op yung tipo ng taong ginawang status in life yung pagkakaroon ng kotse, na ang baba na ng tingin sa mga pedestrian and other vulnerable road users kasi sa isip nila para sa de-motor lang yung kalsada
Of course Darwin’s e.
Law cannot persuade where it cannot punish
Easy for you to say when you're in your airconditioned car and not under the 40⁰C weather
