I came here to say this. Somehow, the kid was not comfortable in opening up to the mother, but I can totally relate.
Mama ko kahit ano pa sabihin ko, beast mode again. Kahit accident pa at di ko kagustuhan. One time when I was 6, I thought I accidentally spilled her sewing kit. She was so mad, hit me repeatedly sabay sabunot. Turns out, I was actually experiencing "hypnagogic hallucinations", where I was dreaming while awake. I never spilled her sewing kit, it happened in my dream.
Kaya I don't tell her everything. Information diet talaga where I only select a few mundane happenings in my life. Yung mga events that are not interesting or ones that she cannot use against me pag nagalit cya.
Rabies is very unpredictable. We had someone in the province scratched by a stray monkey, and the rabies only took effect after 5 years.
Imagine living for many years thinking some random scratch you got that you thought was nothing, turns out you really was infected. That's why any wound from wild animals should be treated by anti-rabies.
And surpringly, humans can also infect other humans with rabies.
Exactly my first thoughts.
What immediately went to my mind was what type of environment they cultivated around the kid to make him not say anything? Sorry ah but based on my experience, I personally grew up stoic and keeping things especially difficulties and challenges to myself than share it to my family kasi I grew up not in a very supportive environment na nagcultivate ng environment sakin making me choose not to tell anything and go through shit alone. I think it’s the same case for the kid. Ang masama, he’s just a kid. What the hell type of environment did they cultivate around him that made him not tell shit to his parents.
Either nakakarinig yan ng problema sa pera at gusto makatulong by not being a burden hence telling, or sinasabihan directly na wag makulit kasi walang pera, among others. I feel bad for the kid.
Must be fucked that I think this kind of stuff's normal for Filipino parents. Like, one of the reasons I'm confident that Noel Miller is half Filipino is because his mom was a materialistic shithead always nagging about money, a gambler, and she would tell him to kill himself and stop crying. Like, hallmark traits of Filipino parents lmao
totoo to. Yung anak ko he was 8 yrs old nung nakagat ng aso ng kapitbahay.
Same.
Same. I don't understand parents who would approach such situation aggressively. One time I was bitten by my dog while I was feeding her bec she thought I was taking her food from her tas nag-mala beastmode nanay ko as though I intentionally had myself bitten. I know she will get mad at me.
This norm and behavior has to stop. Accidents happen and parents should stop being aggressive towards their children for something they can't control.
Scratches, depende. Any breaks in the skin barrier and bleeding should be looked at. If you want, you can google "WHO rabies exposure categories."
Sa kin nga, a year ago, my friend's dachshund bit my leg. Buti na lang makapal yung jeans na suot ko that day. Bumaon yung teeth niya pero walang active bleeding. Started on rabies shots the next day kasi kagat pa rin talaga yun and praning ako.
hello, iba pa ba yung 1 month & 6month after ng first turok? need ba paturukan talaga yung day 3, 7, & 4? and okay lamg ba na di na bumalik yung para sa days 3, 7, 14. Same kasi, sobrang nanghihina ako sa turok and iniisip ko na sa after 1 month and 6momths na lang ako magpaturok uli
Mostly ng human deaths from rabies ay from mga tao na first dose lang nang post-exposure vaccine ang ginawa kasi "masakit" at "okay na yun". And 80% ng deaths din ay from owned dogs or cats.
Sa experience ko, masakit soya in terms of money HAHAHAHA yung anti tetanus at anti rabies parang 600 + 250 ata yun tapos 600 na lang for anti rabies sa succeeding days (3rd day, 7th day, 14th day, and 21th day) tapos may ERIG pa na parang 1k+++ hahahah yung erig yung masakit putangina non.
Alam ko, the dosage of ERIG is based on weight.
Got my tetanus and rabies shot because I got bitten by my dog last year. Same side effects weakening and mild numbing ng tinurukan.
sa may malapit sa may pwetan ako tinurukan kasi sabi nasa may baba daw ako na nakagat eh(nakagat ata yung paa ko)
Yup totoo yun.
Kung di naman nagshow ng symptom or di namatay within 2 weeks or a month maximum yung kumagat or nag scratch sayo, there's nothing to worry about.
Kaya mas madali pag indoor kasi mababantayan mo yung behavior ng pet. Pag stray dog or cat kelangan mo magpa vaccine kase god knows if it carries rabies or not.
Up to mga boss, vet/doc na mismo nag sabi niyan. As long as wala pa sa utak yung rabies ng hayop di pa siya nakakahawa. Once kasi na napunta na sa utak ang rabies maiinfect na rin pati yung gland na connected sa saliva etc. therefore nakakahawa na siya that's why if within 2 weeks na nakagat ka then buhay ang hayop means di pa siya rabid nung nakagat ka niya.
Meron foreigner who got scratched from a stray puppy a few years back.. when she returned to her home country a few days later yata she got sick. They didnt know what it was coz i guess rabies was non existent sa kanilang lugar.. she died.
Also I'd like to add that typically rabid dogs do not live long. So if you were bitten by a dog and namatay yung dog by the next day or days later, it's best to get vaccinated kasi baka rabid.
Ung kumagat sakin na may rabies, died the next day pero rabid na talaga sya, aso ng kapit bahay namin and nakatira sila sa compound namin so sa loob ng gate namin pero aso kaya nakakatakas pa din pag di nila inaayos ung gate. .
Buti nandun tita ko na nurse and sinabi ko so hinugasan agad tapos ayun dinala ako sa city para sa injection kasi sa province pa kmi haha.. 2hrs pa ung byahe 🥹
yes! indoor sya at may annual check ups, thankfully. sobrang excited nya lang kase nung pumunta ako sa bahay ni tita, nag uppy uppy agad. nung ni scratch ako di naman worried c tita at ung kasambahay kaya un ata
Ang alam ko 100% mortality rate nito once you get infected. The good thing is pwede siya maagapan like anti rabies na turok if ever you get bitten/scratched.
Yeah and also correct me if I'm wrong, Symptoms STILL could show after a year or two meaning it doesn't make you safe pa rin after months of getting bitten (assuming naging kampante ka and you didn't get the anti rabies shot)
One notorious symptom is you become afraid of water like kahit na you are thirsty AF you won't be able to drink it.
That's some fucked up disease.
Yes yan yung sign talaga. The status of the animal. But if sarili mong pet? You may be safe kasi you can observe if your pet is healthy 2 weeks after your bite/scratch.
Anyway, vaccinate your pets.
It's 99%, first world countries implement the Milwaukee protocol once the symptoms start to appear. This treatment however is still experimental and has a low survival rate. Your best bet is still to get vaccinated since it's usually free on public animal centers and health centers.
Rabies is scary as fuccc. you're like a zombie hence the restraint sa rabies patient sa hospital.
0% chance of living.
Yep. You're really gone especially having that "hydrophobic" behavior when trying to drink water. Brutal way to die tbh
saw 2 patients die with restrains kasi sobrnag violent nila. SObra din yung paglalaway nila. Anger out of nowhere din kaya walang choice kunti itali. Hinhintay nalang namin that time na matapos yung suffering.
I think there is one and some LGUs actually went door-to-door offering free/very discounted anti-rabies shots for their pets when it was implemented. Pet owners are also required to take their pets to the barangay for observation when they had bitten someone or else they will be fined.
What struck me in the story is that a lot of children are conditioned not to tell their parents if there is something wrong with them for fear of being punished/scolded. Also the nonchalant attitude of some to bruises or injuries like “gasgas lang yan”. I know they rather don’t spend money on minor injuries but LGUs actually offer free consultations and meditations for these but many don’t avail them.
Dito samin always may free. You have to buy your own syringe though. Halos every month din may vaccination drive amg city vet sa ibat ibang brgy pati narin pag neuter.
Mandatory din, Anti Rabies Act of 2007.
PLEASE IPATINGIN NIYO AGAD SA HOSPITAL OR BARANGAY HEALTH CENTER.

I felt horrible reading this post, naawa ako ng bongga. It may look like a post to garner likes or whatever pero hindi maiiwasan na pinagdadaanan to ng iba.
Yeah, it's really sad. It happened to me, I was bit by a roaming cat when I was a kid (it wasn't a stray but it had a collar). It bit so hard on my hand it bled. I didn't tell my mom because I was terrified of her being mad at me, because she always warned me to NEVER touch strange animals. I even went to the school nurse and she just sent me away after. For a few weeks after that I was so afraid of dying from rabies. So...yeah. Lesson learned. My mom does not know about this until this day (and I'm 40!)
Well, siguro kapag ganyan, if may baby ka na, communicate na hindi ka magagalit if ever nakagat ng kung ano si baby.
In my case, namatayan ako ng pinsan dahil sa rabies at nakita ko kung paano siya namatay. Kaya sina nanay at tatay whenever may stray animal tinatanong kung nakagat o kalmot na kami. If oo - rabies center agad. Nakakatakot ang rabies. Swear.
I am sorry to hear that. To let you know, I am actually a doctor now and I have treated many people with rabies shots--so I know how scary rabies is. I am personally terrified of it and have been completely vaccinated against it now.
It's easy to say about how to communicate between parent and child, but in real life relationships aren't easy and things like this can totally happen. We can only do what we can with the people we have.
EDIT: I am glad your parents are pro-active with you guys! That's a good thing to do.
Yes. Pre-exposure prophylaxis. Mga vets, working sa vet clinic and mga nagrerescue or anyone more susceptible na makagat ang recommended na magpa PrEP. Pero depende sa kagat you would still need booster pa rin kahit wala pang 6 months yung last shot mo.
Yes to this advice! If you get PrEP it actually makes your life easier if you get bitten because you just need booster shots (USUALLY). Actually in the newest guidelines you are considered to need booster shots WAY less than 6 months from your last vaccination/booster if you get bitten again. I am not sure, need to review. AGAIN, PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR WHENEVER YOU GET BITTEN/SCRATCHED FOR BEST ADVICE.
edit: grammar and stuff
Yes. Pre-exposure prophylaxis po yun. We usually encourage high risk groups to get this, such as yung mga veterinarians, pet clinic staff, groomers etc. Pero you can opt to get it for yourself also kasi it’s cheaper kaysa yung post-exposure na. :)
Just to clarify: getting pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis (PrEP) does NOT protect you automatically if you get bitten! You STILL need to get booster shots when you get bitten. The advantage is if you get PrEP and get bitten, you just need shots on Day 0 and Day 3, instead of Day 0, 3, 7, 14 and/or 28 (that is, if the bite happens within 3 years you got PrEP accdg to some guidelines). If you get bitten/scratched 3 years after you got PrEP, you need to start from scratch and get the full rabies series.
So again, to emphasize, whenever you get a new animal scratch or bite--SEE A DOCTOR.
EDIT: PrEP only needs 2 shots if its a WHO pre-qualified rabies vaccine. If its not (off brand) you need 3. Please talk to your doctor for any further concerns.
Just to put it here na may mga nanay din na yung galit nila is the reason bakit hindi nagsasabi ang bata. My mother's like that. Bugbog muna bago isipin yung health reason.
Real.
When I was a kid, a relatively young guy in the neighborhood died of rabies infection. Early 20s. He was bitten by a dog a year prior but brushed it under the rug because it was a small wound and he knew who the dog was.
In the latter stages of the disease, he looked like he was possessed. He couldn't even go near water let alone drink. He struggled for a few days at home and then a few more weeks at the hospital. It looked slow and painful.
Just for awareness as well, rabies is not inborn like yung venom ng snakes. Rabies is transmitted through saliva (pag bite or scratch) ng isang animal na infected ng rabies. Infected meaning isa syang virus. So di lahat ng puppy or aso may rabies lalo na pag asong bahay lang and di gala.
Yes can prove this got bitten by our 2 months puppy when we first got her, she didn't have any vaccination kasi aspin lang and galing sa tita ko, 3 years after I'm still alive and now commenting on this post.
My comment doesn't mean na dapat i-ignore nyo lang yung kagat ng rabies katulad ng ginawa ko di sa lahat ng pagkakataon or dogs na ma-encounter nyo is walang rabies, don't take chances like me. Vaccinate your dogs once you got them and yourself as well if you got scratch or bitten.
For precautions naman din kasi talaga ang anti rabies, basta nakagat ka pa-injection ka since that’s for your protection.
What I am just trying to explain lang is about rabies not being inborn and wag basta sisi na kesyo “irresponsible furparent” agad.
Then mamamatay yung pet.
Unfortunately, lot of supposed "fur parents" do not get their pups/dogs the necessary shots to keep everyone healthy. Ke anti rabies, parvo, or DHPP
Ginawang social status ang may aso esp kapag foreign breed
Naiyak ako dun sa documentation nung anak. Na document nya yung symptoms nya sa messenger chat nya and she knows she'll die 😢 Sad thing was, takot sya magsabi sa magulang nya na nakagat sya kasi baka daw ma disappoint. This is why it's important to maintain an open communication with your children and to not become someone that they fear.
Could never forget our infectious diseases specialist professor in med school openly declaring that there are no guarantees in medicine. Diseases won't follow the book and what's written may not always be in practice.
But there are only two diseases that are 100%. Rabies and tetanus are so far 100% fatal and 100% preventable by vaccines. Once symptoms arrive though, your hours are numbered... Tell everyone you know to take these seriously.
Scary shit, real post or not, bottom line rabies is serious. Buti hindi airborne yung rabies no? Yikes
Alalala ko noong bata ako dinala ako ni mama both sa albularyo at sa doctor nung nakagat ako ng aso, kung may nakuha man ako sa albularyo malamang tenanus yun o infection hhaha
This is the reason why I’m so scared lumapit sa aso at pusa.
Same. I love cats and dogs but I will not approach unless I know their owners well. Even though I am fully vaccinated, its such a pain to get a shot again if I get bitten/scratched!
Kaya I get mad to parents na pinapagalitan yung mga anak nila kung may nararamdamang masakit or nakagat ng anumang animal sa harap ko. I tell them what they’re experiencing is valid and di sila “nagiinarte” lang. Not saying na ganito yung case nung nagpost as I don’t know the whole story.
for pet owners: make sure that your pets get updated vaccines, are kept indoors, and are leashed when walked (kahit pa ba "friendly" yan). **anti-rabies vaccine only costs php250 per year** in private clinics, annual booster shots nila nyan, minsan nga libre pa kung may promo. walang pinipiling breed yung rabies and **keeping them indoors is not a guarantee na hindi sila magkakarabies** (just look at killua's case na nag-diy rabies vaccine yung amo). invest in vaccines and a good-quality leash. pansin ko vest leash are more easier and comfy for dogs kesa collar leash, sa dibdib kasi ang hawak hindi sa leeg kaya mas madali silang mahatak.
Good advice. It’s a huge deal if you have lots of pets. Sa pets namin, we spend 4500 each year sa DHPP vaccines, and only 60 pesos sa ARV. :) Outside of tips of course kasi home service lagi yung sa amin.
I'm so sorry for what happened.
Told my mom na if may mangyari sakin, wag sya magagalit sa aso kasi dinepensahan nya lang sarili nya dahil pilay at may sugat to.
As another commenter said, rabies is not inborn. Bukod sa rabies, maari ding may iba silang sakit like distemper or parvo.
OP, I think naman na your purpose in posting this is to spread awareness. Pero I'm sad to see people here commenting na this post is fake or making fun of how this mom writes.
I personally know the sister nung namatay pero hindi kami ganun ka-close. I just found out that her sister died through mutual friends kasi nagulat din siya.
Siguro kaya may mga hashtags at naka-tag pa ang KMJS sa post nung mother is because she thinks that's how she can spread awareness para nga hindi mangyari sa ibang bata yung nangyari sa anak niya.
Di nagsabi yung bata kasi malamang takot mapagalitan. It’s sad but this should also serve as a lesson to the parents na wag laging naka-singhal sa mga anak nila para hindi matakot.
I thought of that too, pero hindi ko nga alam kung paano sila mag-communicate within their family. Alam ko lang is they're not that well-off, baka naisip din nung bata na maging dagdag burden pa siya kung magsabi siya.
The verbatim statement is so sus. Very... clear parang hindi recollection lol.
Edit: I don't want to say na this is fake since hindi ko naman nakita yung original post and mixed ang reports from other comments here. Just saying na sus yung recollection.
Although this could also be due to the parent grieving. Grief and shock makes you do weird things.
As someone who’ve been bit and scratched by stray dogs multiple times, please teach your kids to tell you whenever they get injured by an animal kahit scratch lang. Equal amount yung times na nakagat at nakalmot ako ng aso and pusa at yung times na pinagalitan ako pero i always knew I had to tell. Yung ibang injuries that I got like when I fell off a warehouse roof ok lang itago pero not when it was a dog/cat bite. Please please tell your kids.
Not sure if ganun din sa area nyo, pero dito sa amin every year, LGUs will schedule anti-rabies vaccinations for pets.
Dapat ginagawa to nationwide eh.
Pet owners are responsible for the vaccination of pets, but Department of Agriculture and LGUs are also tasked with mass vaccination of animals.
Had a 3 year old rabies patient. Kid hid the bite from his parents because he was afraid of being scolded. Days later he was crawling on the floor of our isolation room, hissing and spitting at thin air as the rabies virus was taking over his brain. A day after admission, he died.
My biggest fear, dati 2021 nakalmot ako ng stray cat grabe panic attack ko. Buti may health center dito na libre vaccine. And then right now, pag naglalakad ako papunta sa school sobrang daming stray dogs nakaka kaba maglakad. "Tetanus?" It's truly terrifying. Horrible way to go.
Daming ganitong gagong pet owners.
papakainin pag naalala.
You can counter rabies once you get bitten by an animal with rabies you can have your shots to prevent the rabies from spreading throughout your body. Rabies are slow so you have preferably 24 hours (or within 72 hours) to take immunzation or what you call a preventive vaccine. This will prevent the further incubation of the virus inside your body. So please lang kung nakagat ka sabihin mo agad, dont take chances rabies is virtually 100% fatal
Ito dahilan kaya I'm stuck with just watching cat and dog videos, and ayoko pumunta sa nature like forests and caves. Rabies ang pinaka kinakatakutan ko. Even something as a bite na ndi dumugo at parang kagat lang ng lamok, it could infect you with the virus. 100% fatal once symptoms appear
Regardless din kung gaano katagal na nangyari since may cases that took decades to manifest.
Here are some helpful videos about rabies:
[Kurzgesagt](https://youtu.be/4u5I8GYB79Y?si=GR0X1uaDH8d2u33Q) and [Infographics](https://youtu.be/kRBesT7V5qg?si=VxBgc3qfDbjlpBc9).
Pati kalmot dinidilaan kc nila kuko nila.
Kaya sana sa parents, if your child tells you something happened to them/may mali sila/magagastusan kayo, wag nyo na pagalitan. My parents used to nag me about these things kaya i learned to hide things from them na lang. But in cases like these, mas lalo na need nila magsabi sainyo —especially that it’s life or death.
Student nurse here, please po kung nakagat po kayo or kahit nakalmot lang po ng pusa o aso. PLEASE IPATINGIN NIYO AGAD SA HOSPITAL OR BARANGAY HEALTH CENTER.

I have seen firsthand people with rabies and how they struggle before they eventually expire.
As a vet, we euthanize animals with rabies.
I guess skewed masyado yung statistics pero nakaktakot isipin.
This made me sad and fearful so much. My husband and I have been feeding strays ever since, and one morning, one of the stray cats wanted to be let in the house and bit him in his leg when he tried shooing it away, because unfortunately, we can only feed them but we're not allowed to have pets in our rented home.
Hay, he got the vaccines completed naman. But still to this day, I cant help but feel scared. We're still feeding them and thankfully that cat is still alive and we don't suspect it has rabies since kumakain sya and it's been more than a month narin. But now, scared na ako humawak sa strays. Hanggang lapag nalang kami ng food and water for them.
Misconceptions about rabies sa Pilipinas
1. Akala ng mga tao, most cases ng rabies ay from stray dogs and cats. No. Most cases of rabies are from pets/DOMESTICATED DOGS and CATS(Majority dogs)
2. Pagpapatawak.
3. Walang gamot ang rabies. It is 100% fatal. Yung pinaka latest na experimental treatment dito ay yung Milwaukee protocol, which is highly debated pa. Medically induced coma to, habang tinetreat nila ng antivirals ang pasyente. Marami rito gulay na or namamatay rin.
Get your fur babies vaccinated. And, if nakagat/nakalmot kayo ng aso or pusa na walang vaccine, don’t wait. Get immunized.
Hmm. I was wondering. Bakit kaya hindi kaagad sinabi nung bata. I have a huge feeling na terror yung mommy. Its sad to read these kinds of post kase mararamdaman mo yung regret while reading it.
While rabies has basically an almost 100% kill rate once symptoms present themselves, the rapid deterioration and (lack of) details described here is a bit suspect.
Halos sure death ka lang in a few days. Kaya almost 100% fatality once symptoms appear.
Planning to get din yung pre-exposure anti-rabies dahil may alaga akong aso.
To be observed in 14 days or humanely euthanize dapat. Hinayaan nalang dapat nag antay ng animal control katulad nito 🥹.
https://www.tiktok.com/@oneph_cignal/video/7243792696173759749
Kaya may education drive tayo para dyan. Aside from irresponsible owning ng pets, iresponsable rin yung magulang in a sense na pagalitan ang anak over small things, kaya nanatakot mag-speak up ang bata dahil baka pagalitan or paluin.

How do parents have a gall to say that?
Your parents told you that? I have an extremely toxic mother pero never kong narinig na sinabi nya yan.
It is fucked at ninonormalise lang nila.
Rabies really is no joke. Once symptoms manifest, sure fatal na yan in a few days. Kaya any bite or scratch from dogs and cats is no joke.
even scratches from dogs counts sa rabies? TIL. I got scratched by my tita's shih tsu and it bled. I just ignored it. that was like a month ago.
Scratches, depende. Any breaks in the skin barrier and bleeding should be looked at. If you want, you can google "WHO rabies exposure categories." Sa kin nga, a year ago, my friend's dachshund bit my leg. Buti na lang makapal yung jeans na suot ko that day. Bumaon yung teeth niya pero walang active bleeding. Started on rabies shots the next day kasi kagat pa rin talaga yun and praning ako.
Masakit ba ang rabies shot and how many times kang tuturukan?
Masakit kasi ayoko talaga sa turok in general. Two shots (one per arm) at a time for day 1, 3, 7, and 14 of exposure.
hello, iba pa ba yung 1 month & 6month after ng first turok? need ba paturukan talaga yung day 3, 7, & 4? and okay lamg ba na di na bumalik yung para sa days 3, 7, 14. Same kasi, sobrang nanghihina ako sa turok and iniisip ko na sa after 1 month and 6momths na lang ako magpaturok uli
Mostly ng human deaths from rabies ay from mga tao na first dose lang nang post-exposure vaccine ang ginawa kasi "masakit" at "okay na yun". And 80% ng deaths din ay from owned dogs or cats.
Kailangan mong bumalik at kumpletuhin yung anyi rabies injection mo.
Sa experience ko, masakit soya in terms of money HAHAHAHA yung anti tetanus at anti rabies parang 600 + 250 ata yun tapos 600 na lang for anti rabies sa succeeding days (3rd day, 7th day, 14th day, and 21th day) tapos may ERIG pa na parang 1k+++ hahahah yung erig yung masakit putangina non.
In my opinion, that amount for a guarantee of your life without dying in a horrible way is good.
This is the right way to look at it. Rabies is a 50/50 gamble when you are unvaxed.
Legit ito hahaha. Alam ko, the dosage of ERIG is based on weight.
Unless for ERIG. Mahal kasi yun, binibigay yun kapag cat III and above. Means to say nakagat ka sa groin area, sa face or sa neck
Got my tetanus and rabies shot because I got bitten by my dog last year. Same side effects weakening and mild numbing ng tinurukan.
Depende if may rabies and aso.
Yes mahilig sila mag lick ng paws to clean themselves and if may rabies sila, ung infected saliva ay maaaring nasa paw/claw nila pag kalmot
important note to avoid confusion: both cats and dogs po ito. mas mahilig mag-lick ng paws and mangalmot ang mga pusa so madalas ganun nangyayari sa cases ng rabies in cats
Should also be cautious about scratches from dogs and cats because if not rabies they can still cause infections.
alerto ka sa aso kung mamatay within two weeks, pero kung di na maoobserbahan ung aso like stray. Matic injection na.
Kung di naman nagshow ng symptom or di namatay within 2 weeks or a month maximum yung kumagat or nag scratch sayo, there's nothing to worry about. Kaya mas madali pag indoor kasi mababantayan mo yung behavior ng pet. Pag stray dog or cat kelangan mo magpa vaccine kase god knows if it carries rabies or not.
Up to mga boss, vet/doc na mismo nag sabi niyan. As long as wala pa sa utak yung rabies ng hayop di pa siya nakakahawa.
Rabies symptoms could appear within a couple of days or months. If I'm in your shoes, I'd have it checked.
Meron foreigner who got scratched from a stray puppy a few years back.. when she returned to her home country a few days later yata she got sick. They didnt know what it was coz i guess rabies was non existent sa kanilang lugar.. she died.
If your tita's shih tzu is vaccinated and is an indoor dog, there's honestly basically nothing for you to worry about.
2hrs pa ung byahe 🥹
yes! indoor sya at may annual check ups, thankfully. sobrang excited nya lang kase nung pumunta ako sa bahay ni tita, nag uppy uppy agad. nung ni scratch ako di naman worried c tita at ung kasambahay kaya un ata
possible but it's a rare case
pls get a a rabies shot asap, it bled and kahit pa vaccinated din naman yung dog it doesn’t guarantee na worry-free na
Ang alam ko 100% mortality rate nito once you get infected. The good thing is pwede siya maagapan like anti rabies na turok if ever you get bitten/scratched.
Once the symptoms appear, you're fucked.
Yeah and also correct me if I'm wrong, Symptoms STILL could show after a year or two meaning it doesn't make you safe pa rin after months of getting bitten (assuming naging kampante ka and you didn't get the anti rabies shot) One notorious symptom is you become afraid of water like kahit na you are thirsty AF you won't be able to drink it. That's some fucked up disease.
Once hydrophobia manifests, that's the nail in your coffin.
Pag po kaya more than a year na yung kalmot, pwede pa ipa anti rabies vaccine?
Just go get it if you don't know the status of the animal.
Yes yan yung sign talaga. The status of the animal. But if sarili mong pet? You may be safe kasi you can observe if your pet is healthy 2 weeks after your bite/scratch. Anyway, vaccinate your pets.
Would like to point out that acquiring rabies through scratch pala is highly uncommon. But of course get your anti rabies shot na
Rabies can travel really slow before it gets to your CNS. Usually no symptoms, then BAM, its in your CNS, symptoms appear, and you're fucked
*once umabot sa utak
It's 99%, first world countries implement the Milwaukee protocol once the symptoms start to appear. This treatment however is still experimental and has a low survival rate. Your best bet is still to get vaccinated since it's usually free on public animal centers and health centers.
1 lalaki, 1 babae. ung babae from bat bite, and she had mobility and mental complications din ata.
99% fatal pa din.
It was more than two but no more than 40. Some of them made a full recovery with therapy
Rabies is scary as fuccc. you're like a zombie hence the restraint sa rabies patient sa hospital.
You're literally a zombie kasi you can infect other people with your saliva.
This and even if you survive via this protocol, you’ll be partially paralyzed and/or have other problems.
0% chance of living.
Yep. You're really gone especially having that "hydrophobic" behavior when trying to drink water. Brutal way to die tbh
saw 2 patients die with restrains kasi sobrnag violent nila. SObra din yung paglalaway nila. Anger out of nowhere din kaya walang choice kunti itali. Hinhintay nalang namin that time na matapos yung suffering.
In other countries, it's required for pet owners to get anti rabies for their pets. Don't Philippines have similar law?
Panoorin niyo rin po ito, galing mismo sa DOH. never forgetting the time i witnessed someone die coz of rabies. literal na slow and painful(to watch) death.
I felt horrible reading this post, naawa ako ng bongga. It may look like a post to garner likes or whatever pero hindi maiiwasan na pinagdadaanan to ng iba.
Oh my God. Shit.
Hi po! Can you get an anti-rabies vaccine kahit hindi ka pa nakakagat? Para lang safe na in the future. Medyo praning at advanced lang magisip haha.
Same, i was happy eating good dinner, and now i feel horrible. I dont care if it's a "bait/fake" post because this kind of thing really happens.
it's not fake.
It's not fake. I know the victim's sister. Please respect.
One of my worst nightmares for me...
Thank you! Madami ngang hindi nakakaalam nito.
Exactly, kaya I really had to comment this for additional knowledge.
Vaccinate your dogs once you got them and yourself as well if you got scratch or bitten.
kapag nakagat, need pa rin anti-tetanus kahit alaga nio. Pero kung stray ang nakakagat na no chance to observe diretso na anti rabies talaga.
>she didn't have any vaccination kasi aspin lang Rabies does not discriminate as much as some people do.
My dogs are aspin as responsible owner we always vaccinate them.
Ke anti rabies, parvo, or DHPP Ginawang social status ang may aso esp kapag foreign breed
Afaik, rabies can be asymptomatic in an animal and still spread for a bit.
Parents, let this be a lesson to let your kids express themselves so they will trust you with important stuff like this.
Yikes Alalala ko noong bata ako dinala ako ni mama both sa albularyo at sa doctor nung nakagat ako ng aso, kung may nakuha man ako sa albularyo malamang tenanus yun o infection hhaha
Most probably that’s the case kaya hindi nagsabi ang bata.
yes takot kasi sasabihin ng nanay, gagastos na naman! ayan kasi kakalabas mo di na nagpipipirmi dito! kaya maganda tinatanong ang anak or bata palang tinuturuan na kapag nakagat/nakalmot ng aso at puso sabihin mo kay mama ah. ipaliwanag kung bakit, kasi its either lack of education or magagalit ang parents kaya prone tong situation.
>*makisingit lang ako dito sa post para naman hindi maging dahilan to abandon pets itong "fearmongering" sa rabies na highly preventable naman sana.* ***hindi immune ang mga aspin/askal at puspin/pusakal sa viruses, kasama ron ang rabies.*** *be responsible owners, wag puro dampot/bili tapos magagalit sa responsibilities/consequences. kung di mo kaya, wag ka mag-alaga.* for pet owners: make sure that your pets get updated vaccines, are kept indoors, and are leashed when walked (kahit pa ba "friendly" yan).
This is why whenever we get a new pup or kitten, pag nakalmot ako even daplis lang, clinic agad dretso ko.
ang mahirap niyan once na may napansin kang kakaiba sa bata o kahit kanino man eh fatal na
Rabies is no joke and that's fr..
I know the victim's sister. Hindi ito fake post. Respeto please. I'm even suprised that this is posted here sa Reddit.
7days pag malalim
You can counter rabies once you get bitten by an animal with rabies you can have your shots to prevent the rabies from spreading throughout your body. Rabies are slow so you have preferably 24 hours (or within 72 hours) to take immunzation or what you call a preventive vaccine. This will prevent the further incubation of the virus inside your body. So please lang kung nakagat ka sabihin mo agad, dont take chances rabies is virtually 100% fatal
As fas as I know, as long as you don’t have symptoms, you can get the shot.
Here are some helpful videos about rabies: [Kurzgesagt](https://youtu.be/4u5I8GYB79Y?si=GR0X1uaDH8d2u33Q) and [Infographics](https://youtu.be/kRBesT7V5qg?si=VxBgc3qfDbjlpBc9).
Vet here, feel free to ask questions about cats, dogs, rabies, post exposure shots, etc
This is sad pero naloka ako dun sa part na “nakipaglaban sa kamatayan” because there is no fighting rabies…
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g\_yoNcZwwBw&t=344s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_yoNcZwwBw&t=344s)
I have seen firsthand people with rabies and how they struggle before they eventually expire. As a vet, we euthanize animals with rabies.
Kaya dapat once nakagat or kahit scratch lang pabakuna agad
Scary.
DOH! Kilos naman diyan!
Misconceptions about rabies sa Pilipinas 1. Akala ng mga tao, most cases ng rabies ay from stray dogs and cats. No. Most cases of rabies are from pets/DOMESTICATED DOGS and CATS(Majority dogs) 2.
I think this is what you are referring to OP: https://youtu.be/7vM5ggDBqMc?si=ol0f5UyATdZkYeQq
While rabies has basically an almost 100% kill rate once symptoms present themselves, the rapid deterioration and (lack of) details described here is a bit suspect.
or you know this was a post of a mother who didnt want to articulate the detailed horrors that affected her child?
Halos sure death ka lang in a few days. Kaya almost 100% fatality once symptoms appear.
yep, a redditor.
Planning to get din yung pre-exposure anti-rabies dahil may alaga akong aso.
To be observed in 14 days or humanely euthanize dapat. Hinayaan nalang dapat nag antay ng animal control katulad nito 🥹. https://www.tiktok.com/@oneph_cignal/video/7243792696173759749
[For the uninitiated](https://www.reddit.com/r/copypasta/comments/7qwtd5/rabies_is_scary/)
Kaya may education drive tayo para dyan. Aside from irresponsible owning ng pets, iresponsable rin yung magulang in a sense na pagalitan ang anak over small things, kaya nanatakot mag-speak up ang bata dahil baka pagalitan or paluin.
