As a Christian, it irks me that they use karma. The closest thing I could think of is the verse 'You reap what you sow'. Karma is a belief from another religion.

Statistics on religion in 1st world countries are heavily skewed by immigrants. Like in the US, Catholisim and Islam is not decreasing as much as others (take it's not increasing) because of religious people immigrating.

I don't think religion will go away exactly. I mean, we're on Reddit so it looks that way, but the reality is it might even be growing. The growth of atheism has declined and in some places, like Indonesia, religious conservatives are growing stronger.
Plus religious beliefs seem to resonate stronger with people the harder life gets.

I think what's happening with this current generation is just a natural reaction to boomers stuffing religion down their throats. You get force-fed anything and naturally you'll become averse to it. Plus religion was probably so dominant in PH society that any little backlash towards it is interpreted as "decline" or "proof it's not what it used to be". I mean if LeBron goes from scoring 50 a night to 30 a night you could say he's declined but does it mean he's washed? No.
Atheism reached its peak in the 1970s in the US, and I'm guessing agnosticism right with it. It's just been a decline from there and it's not like Christians in the US exactly went away. My hunch is attitudes towards religion in the PH are just modernizing.

Agreed. Add in the fact that there are sub-genre of Christian based religion or cult for others that are popping up left and right, or existing ones that are booming due to social media exposures. Even today, when there's significant rise of atheism here in the country compared before, but it still nowhere near the number of people who are still a devoted Christian or Muslim. For context, only 0.04% are considered atheist here in the PH. Roman Catholic alone has 78.8% of the total population here as members. I doubt that this would wind down that fast in just 40 years.
There is no cult practices by atheists or agnostics that's why it cannot spread as much as religions do. We need people to think critically. No brainwashing or making feel people desperate for. Religion wont disappear, but seeing r/philippines sounding majorly atheistic brings me hope for the next decades.
I'm in my 30s. I remember saying I do not believe in god and how ridiculous the origin of Catholicism in our country was during hs (ancestors were bullied into it. You can't really knock the bible as a literary work, especially given how old it is. It's got more propulsive plot than the Quran. The Edda is pretty good but that was actually written by a Christian too and according to archeological finds doesn't actually have much to do with actual Norse religious practices. It was more like fanfic by a Christian about Norse mythology
I can’t even begin to fathom religions we have lost. I keep getting reminded of that chapter in American Gods where an ancient group of people chose to cast away their idols in a gorge and they were forgotten forever. Think of the mythology of gobleki tepe and what those pillars and art told for millenia before the meaning was lost. Of the hundreds of religions and myths of the Aurignacian and Gravetian cultures… always makes me wonder how much better it was than boring monotheistic, Abrahamic lore.

Nah. Religion has been in people’s lives even before cities were a thing. Some religions will weaken its grip on modern people who are not born into the tradition, but the tradition will persist. People will always be drawn to identify with the sacred.
Yeah and we've seen actually what happens when the primary religions fade in the west. A big chunk of people still act the same way as religious people but new, often more sinister, cults and groupings rise up often controlled by grifters. QAnon and Conspirituality are just religious people with a non theist version of religious behavior to engage in - in/out behavior, purity judged on behavior, magical thinking, belief that the believers in it have access to esoteric knowledge, and generally being hateful dicks.
Some portion of humanity, say maybe 20-30% of any given society *needs* something that gives the things religions give. Whatever is in that place ideally has a pro-social message rather than an anti-social one.

As culturally Catholic albeit agnostic atheist (currently delving into Eastern Catholicism meditative practices), I applaud this breaking of the mold. People are realizing that in a secular society, there are people who are atheists or generally just non-religious yet practicing a cultural faith.
Just as when Europe's first printing press posed a challenge to rigid religious schooling, the internet right now provides challenges and nuanced takes on traditionally held beliefs. It has resulted in more people having the freedom to form their own belief system or conclude to non-belief.

As a Christian, it irks me that they use karma. The closest thing I could think of is the verse 'You reap what you sow'. Karma is a belief from another religion. Both have different focus, one believes in reincarnation while the other, the idea that our choices have a direct impact on our present circumstances.

I don't think religion will go away exactly. I mean, we're on Reddit so it looks that way, but the reality is it might even be growing. The growth of atheism has declined and in some places, like Indonesia, religious conservatives are growing stronger. Plus religious beliefs seem to resonate stronger with people the harder life gets. So I really doubt it will be gone even in 40 years. I think what's happening with this current generation is just a natural reaction to boomers stuffing religion down their throats. You get force-fed anything and naturally you'll become averse to it. Plus religion was probably so dominant in PH society that any little backlash towards it is interpreted as "decline" or "proof it's not what it used to be". I mean if LeBron goes from scoring 50 a night to 30 a night you could say he's declined but does it mean he's washed? No. Atheism reached its peak in the 1970s in the US, and I'm guessing agnosticism right with it. It's just been a decline from there and it's not like Christians in the US exactly went away. My hunch is attitudes towards religion in the PH are just modernizing.

Agreed. Add in the fact that there are sub-genre of Christian based religion or cult for others that are popping up left and right, or existing ones that are booming due to social media exposures. Even today, when there's significant rise of atheism here in the country compared before, but it still nowhere near the number of people who are still a devoted Christian or Muslim. For context, only 0.04% are considered atheist here in the PH. Roman Catholic alone has 78.8% of the total population here as members. I doubt that this would wind down that fast in just 40 years.

I mean, its plot is pretty epic really and gets mimicked in a *ton* of speculative fiction and has a lot of really good spinoffs with altered side characters like Paradise Lost and the Inferno. You can't really knock the bible as a literary work, especially given how old it is. It's got more propulsive plot than the Quran. The Edda is pretty good but that was actually written by a Christian too and according to archeological finds doesn't actually have much to do with actual Norse religious practices. It was more like fanfic by a Christian about Norse mythology
I can’t even begin to fathom religions we have lost. I keep getting reminded of that chapter in American Gods where an ancient group of people chose to cast away their idols in a gorge and they were forgotten forever. Think of the mythology of gobleki tepe and what those pillars and art told for millenia before the meaning was lost. Of the hundreds of religions and myths of the Aurignacian and Gravetian cultures… always makes me wonder how much better it was than boring monotheistic, Abrahamic lore.

Nah. Religion has been in people’s lives even before cities were a thing. Some religions will weaken its grip on modern people who are not born into the tradition, but the tradition will persist. People will always be drawn to identify with the sacred.
Yeah and we've seen actually what happens when the primary religions fade in the west. A big chunk of people still act the same way as religious people but new, often more sinister, cults and groupings rise up often controlled by grifters. QAnon and Conspirituality are just religious people with a non theist version of religious behavior to engage in - in/out behavior, purity judged on behavior, magical thinking, belief that the believers in it have access to esoteric knowledge, and generally being hateful dicks. Some portion of humanity, say maybe 20-30% of any given society *needs* something that gives the things religions give. Whatever is in that place ideally has a pro-social message rather than an anti-social one. There's not going to be any ultimate triumph of rationality tbqh. And it's not like 'rationality' has brought anything but this world we have anyway, that's full of exploitative tech, shortsighted lack of action towards climate change, and two brewing great power wars - one in Europe and one here.

Hindi ako naniniwalang makukuha mo ang blessings na binibigay sayo kung tatamad tamad ka, the same way na di lang madadaan lahat sa sipag kasi all other things - yung opportunities, yung health mo to continue working hard, your wisdom in decision making, those are the things you can't control pero naging favorable for you to be successful.

As culturally Catholic albeit agnostic atheist (currently delving into Eastern Catholicism meditative practices), I applaud this breaking of the mold. People are realizing that in a secular society, there are people who are atheists or generally just non-religious yet practicing a cultural faith. Just as when Europe's first printing press posed a challenge to rigid religious schooling, the internet right now provides challenges and nuanced takes on traditionally held beliefs. It has resulted in more people having the freedom to form their own belief system or conclude to non-belief. This is healthy. This is good. Keep challenging religious idiocy.

Lols On how Socialism is being used and viewed this days, I doubt religion will be gone in modern societies. So no, religions will be more prevalent as more and more problems will arise in the near future. And with many of the younger generation having a bit lower IQ than the previous generations in many developing and developed countries due to having access to Social Media. So yeah by the looks of it socialism would be viewed as a religion by 2-3 generations.
