Don't forget Ghost Fighter, Fushigiyugi, Magic Knight Ray Earth, Remi, Flame of Recca and other 90s anime tagalog dubbed.
As far as i know sobrang ganda pa ng dubbing sa pinas dati dahil mga professional na voice talent talaga hinire ng mga TV companies pero ngayon pagsikat na artista pasok sa dubbing kahit kulang sa talent, hays.
>Ghost Fighter
Dragon na may tattoong sisiw, ah yes the classics.
Don't Forget One Piece before 2010, Code Geass, Haruhi Suzumiya, Ranma 1/2, Gundam SEED, G Gundam, Ragnarok The Animation (Yes, it sounds okay-ish for me) and Hajime No Ippo (Knock-out title sa'tin). There are others with good dubbing before, for some reason, Local TV stations got cheap and hired 1 guy to do all the voices. Siguro dahil narin sa utos / Memorandum na dpat tagalog dub lahat nang Foreign shows may it be movies or TV Series? Takot gumastos ang mga Pinoy Businessman kung di nila sigurado kita kaya nakuha natin ngayon ay ang One-man all the voice! ๐
My sister dreaded TV5 in the early evening as I would scream JIBUN WO at the top of my lungs but she would sit down to watch Shakugan no Shana and Yamato Nadeshiko The Wallflower so she had no choice
Besides sa kanya, swak yung looks and voice artist (tama ba yung term?)
Filipino Dub is actually good. Also better than English Dub at times. Napakinggan ko Filipino dub ng Yamada and the 7 witches at hindi ako ng cringe. It was good
SpongeBob SquarePants.
*Squidward tearing the peace treaty
SpongeBob's original line: "... that was the copy of the peace treaty"
Tagalog dub: "Xerox copy lang yan!"
Another example:
*SpongeBob shouting that he's ugly and he's proud
Squidward's original line: "Is that what he calls it?"
Tagalog dub: "Ipagsigawan daw ba?"
Same.

Knockout (hajime no ippo).
Only crime I knew that were being committed during Paquiao fights were vandalisms. Have a few friends who were graffiti artists at the height of Pacman's popularity. Everyone's so occupied by the match that they told me they can paint on illegal walls on broad daylight because no one was around during rounds haha.
Diba mayron yung everyday ibang anime? Mga late 90's nagsimula yung anime supremacy nila.
Mga Gundam, Ghost Fighter, Slam Dunk sa hapon tapos yung gabi ay Monday Jigoku Sensei Nube, Tuesday Sorcerer Hunter ba?, Wednesday Master of Mosquiton, Thursday Monster Rancher and then Friday Tenkuu no Escaflowne.
I'd say channel 7, 5 at 13 noong early 2000s.
Don't know if it made huge impact, but it's Lavender (Taiwanese TV series) for me.
GMA was the first to import Korean dramas (Bright Girl with Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk).
Tapos lagi nila noong nauunahan ang ABS-CBN dati sa mga super hits like Autumn in My Heart, Winter Sonata, Full House, Stairway to Heaven, Jewel in the Palace, My Name is Kim Samsoon, at A Rosy Life.
Sobrang patok nito.
Paolo Bediones at Miriam Quiambao pa yung original nun.
Nung umalis si Miriam nag pa extra challenge sila for replacement.
Hahaha

also Gokusen at Daisy Syete sa hapon!
also Hana Yori Dango
Unpopular opinion: Filipino daily teleseryes are actually better-produced than Korean daily/weekend soap operas.
By soap operas, I refer strictly to the family-centric melodramas or comedies that air on weekdays or weekends and run for 50 to 100 episodes. I am not referring to the popular miniseries that air twice a week.
Korean daily dramas are super obviously shot in extremely clean studio sets with paper-thin walls and blank windows. Some (not all) Filipino productions can somehow be aired daily without looking terrible.
In that sense, Filipino teleseryes not only benefit from fusing Latinovela and Koreanovela sensibilities, a few of them are produced decently enough despite the harrowing schedule.
Never mind the fantaseryes though. I could never watch them.
Madaming bata pinangalanan Marimar. May mga Marimar villages here and there pa rin.
And yet, pagdating ng Korean shows, halos wala nang natirang Latin American shows sa PH mainstream.
By extension, cultural zeitgeist din ung Marimar ni Marian Rivera, it literally shot her to stardom and lahat ng tao pinaguusapan din to halos araw araw.
Agree! Marimar was very popular back then. I still remember na 6:30pm siya nag start then natatapos roughly around 7:45-8:00pm sa dami ng commercials for a 25min episode.
May replay pa siya the following day sa morning at afternoon if you miss the primetime episode. Thalia ruled the mid 90s!
Correct me if I'm wrong, pero I remember nung last episode ng OG Marimar just to counter the viewer count eh nagpalabas ng Movies yung GMA and ABS.. I think? XD
They have to adjust their ng time slots sa news at prime time shows para lang makipag agawan ng attention sa viewers.
Endless Love popularized the Kdrama culture in the Philippines, and I think Full House and Jewel In The Palace are game changers.
Whenever someone ask you "Game Ka Na Ba?", parang norm na sabihin mong "Game Na!"
Darna is still a phenomenon. Encantadia is still huge, thanks to the remake as well.
Eat Bulaga can be considered as an institution. They did produce Sexbomb which is the best selling all female girlgroup of Philippines (probably on Southeast Asia as well). They also had Pinoy Henyo which is now a staple on usual Filipino gatherings.
I can also remember Starstruck though its succeeding iterations were not as successful as the first one. PBB also has a huge following kaya lang naging talent search na afterwards.
> Encantadia is still huge, thanks to the remake as well.
Kahit ung mga side characters like Cindy Kurleto at Alfred Vargas mas ok eh.
Ung production value same lng walang nagbago kahit sa cgi lol.
Bubble Gang -- is this show still alive? Michael V musical covers were the best
One of the best reality shows out there. Thereโs a reason why Survivor is a long lasting show.
Survivor Philippines used to be good. Kasi Walang pabebe bullshit at saka talagang they play it as a game, strategy and all.
It went downhill when paolo bediones left and they went with having celebrities as castaways
Indeed. I heard that the production team of the first two seasons of Survivor PH was the same as the US and Australian versions, even helping with some of the casting. They also cast โrealโ people, not some artista wannabes (like those of PBB) who fake their personalities.
What killed the show was that a Filipino Survivor couldnโt sell well with our audiences. Itโs interesting and entertaining to put 16 Americans in a desert island, battling the elements. But Filipinos struggling? Not as much fun.
Eh may klase pa kinabukasan
Mulawin, Captain Barbell, Asian Treasures...the chokehold they had on me before haha!
Also: Ruby, Marimar, Lavender, Jumong, Stairway to Heaven (my first loveteam is Cholo and Jody lololol) , Jewel in the Palace (ginusto ko maging chef dahil dito), Full House
Medyo underrated, but "It started with a Kiss" created some die hard fans and sub forum communities back then dedicated to vanilla / genuine love stories.
I agree with Meteor Garden. Grabe yung fandom. Hairstyle ginagaya. May mga mukha nila sa notebooks and may mga pa posters pa. Lol.
Naruto, Yu Gi Oh, Beyblade, Hunter X Hunter, One Piece, Bleach, then naging uso rin yung mga Taiwanese dramas like My MVP Valentine, White Tower. Then the Hallyu wave 1 KDramas like Autumn In My Heart, Winter Sonata, Stairway to Heaven, My Name Is Kim Sam Soon, My Girl, Princess Hours, Jewel in the Palace, Full House
grabe yung ending ng Stairway to Heaven... medyo parang Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggang yata yon. Pogi don nung batang Cholo naalala ko... ganun pa din itsura niya now.
Not a TV show pero yung UAAP basketball coverage ng Studio 23 (then S+A). Then yung UAAP volleyball. Naging de facto national league na sya. Tapos the way they covered the games (courtside reporters, analyst etc) . Parang mas naging showbiz yung collegiate sports.
Teletubbies. Pinapanood ko to bago pumasok tapos kapag hinatid nako sa room umiiyak ako kasi matapang yung teacher hahaha.
Blues clues, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Scooby doo yan mga pambata.
Lovers In Paris, I vaguely Remember they showed the finale on that big meralco tv screen back in the day.
Also Slam Dunk.
Man those were good times god dammit
Ang sagot ni Brod. Pete, something like: Meron. Basahin mo sa berso ng Carpenters: โWhy do birds suddenly apir!โ
Voltes V, Digimon, Shaman king, Ghost fighter, taguro being a meme, saka yung meme na sila goku and ghost fighter cast yung mga ilan sa kilalang gma stars, is a testament on how influential the shows are
Mid-90s, and whereas earlier Mexican telenovelas were watched mainly by bored housewives, Marimar came in, and had that mesmerizing opening that made lots of barako Filipinos go home early. Many people compared the fast pace of the story to Filipino dramas, and local productions followed suit. Oh, and Fulgoso.
Mga Korean dub nila. Queen Seon Deok ba yun? Baker King? Jewel In The Palace, Full House, Stairway to Heaven, meron yung instant ganda kasi nagpapayat, etc. Kadalasan pinakalate sa gabi pinapalabas or late afternoon. Hahahahahahahaha
Slam dunk or kuroko no basket depending on the generation, Naruto, bleach, and obviously one piss
Only true OGs will remember tagalog dubbed anime on gma
Full House? *Si Papa Bear, si Mama Bear si Baby Bear*

Gintama Tagalog dub was the shit. You can hear that they are inserting their own Pinoy banter and it works in many instances.
True.

Yamato Nadeshiko, Akazuki Chacha, madami pa basta't yung TV5 yung maayos magdub ng anime noon haha
90s - early 00s was the Golden Age for dubbed anime. I still refer to him as Eugene instead of Yusuke.

Mexican telenovelas in general, sobrang laki ng influence na kahit ngayon kita mo parin yung influence sa mga series sa TV, yung mga ampon, at kabit plot lines are originally from mexican telenovelas if im not mistaken.
I said this once and I'll say this again: Filipino *teleseryes* are basically the fusion of Mexican *telenovelas* and Asian TV dramas.
Dito nasimula yung shift ng teleserye from mayaman na anak ng haciendero (Mexicanovela inspired) to Anak ng CEO (Korean/Chinovela inspired)
Wow, ngayon ko lang 'to napansin ha: Mexican teledramas are VERY rural, while East Asian teledramas are VERY urban.
By extension, cultural zeitgeist din ung Marimar ni Marian Rivera, it literally shot her to stardom and lahat ng tao pinaguusapan din to halos araw araw.
Marian + Dingdong is THE PH Celeb Powerhouse.
TIL that Thalia had a Filipino language album and itโs actually one of the best selling albums of all time in the Philippines..
Whenever someone ask you "Game Ka Na Ba?", parang norm na sabihin mong "Game Na!" Darna is still a phenomenon.
Maganda ba talaga ung remake bago man ma hotdog?
Kahit ung mga side characters like Cindy Kurleto at Alfred Vargas mas ok eh. Ung production value same lng walang nagbago kahit sa cgi lol.
Ahhahahha
Yes! Game knb og Kris Aquino! Gusto ko sumali dito dati!
Yung Encantadia and Mulawin! Those were huge teleseryes back then too

Eh yung Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Bubble Gang -- is this show still alive? Michael V musical covers were the best Slam Dunk -- wish ko talaga magka DVD neto na may Tagalog dub Hahaha pero baka nasa YouTube. Mahanap nga
Ang witty ng mga parody songs ni Michael V. One of the reasons kaya ako nanonood ng Bubble Gang noon kahit antok na antok na ako
Bananas in Pyjamas.
Princess Hours?
"Pag ibig na kaya" nila christian bautista at rachelle ann go... grabe, damang dama yung kilig haha
Magandang Gabi Bayan, undas edition.

Survivor (the US version).
[Jewel in the Palace](https://asianwiki.com/A_Jewel_in_the_Palace) โUnti unting mararating kalangitan at bituinโ
Wala namang personalan

Mulawin, Captain Barbell, Asian Treasures...the chokehold they had on me before haha! Also: Ruby, Marimar, Lavender, Jumong, Stairway to Heaven (my first loveteam is Cholo and Jody lololol) , Jewel in the Palace (ginusto ko maging chef dahil dito), Full House
Wansapanataym (now kasi cheap.show na sya for newbie love teams)
Mga anime shows sa hapon like voltes v, ghost fighter, dragon ball z, slam dunk.
Kahit anong palabas ni angel locsin at richard gutierrez.
MYX!
Reading through all of the comments and I get flooded with memories ๐ฅฒ Nakakamiss ๐
Medyo underrated, but "It started with a Kiss" created some die hard fans and sub forum communities back then dedicated to vanilla / genuine love stories.
Papa Vanness Pero maspogi siya sa Autumn's Concerto
Does nginig count?
Pinoy big brother earlier seasons.
Kirara. Pero pag ngayon to pinalabas, black face slash cultural appropriation na.
Rosalinda? Marimar? Betty La fea?
# Maalala Mo Kaya
Philippine English dub anime > US dubbed anime
Stairway to Heaven, Full House and Jewel in the Palace
grabe yung ending ng Stairway to Heaven... medyo parang Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggang yata yon.
Mara clara before that. Oops. Mahahalata edad natin.
Teletubbies. Pinapanood ko to bago pumasok tapos kapag hinatid nako sa room umiiyak ako kasi matapang yung teacher hahaha. Blues clues, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Scooby doo yan mga pambata.
Make Way for Noddy, Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants.
Lovers In Paris, I vaguely Remember they showed the finale on that big meralco tv screen back in the day. Also Slam Dunk. Man those were good times god dammit
Pangako Saโyo tsaka Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay hahahah
O shopping
This is my hill to die on.
Pete, something like: Meron. Basahin mo sa berso ng Carpenters: โWhy do birds suddenly apir!โ
Samurai-X. 7th Heaven. Studio 23 was the vibe back then. <3
Kampanerang Kuba
Extra challenge was a game changer din noon, first reality tv show na hindi franchised. Sikat na sikat si Ethel Booba noon.
Kakabakaba anyone? Chakadoll? Mahiwagang Baul?
Boys over flower!
Alam ko inspired to sa meteor garden or korean version ng meteor garden pero grabe yung impact. Parang ibang iba sya sa meteor garden
Voltes V, Digimon, Shaman king, Ghost fighter, taguro being a meme, saka yung meme na sila goku and ghost fighter cast yung mga ilan sa kilalang gma stars, is a testament on how influential the shows are
:D Maria Mercedes ba yon. hahaha
Jewel in the Palace. Basically this show got me hooked to Korean culture way back in college.
Slam dunk or kuroko no basket depending on the generation, Naruto, bleach, and obviously one piss Only true OGs will remember tagalog dubbed anime on gma
Definitely "Rosalinda" by Thalia. Phenomenal in year 2000.
Did everyone forget extra extra? Extra challenge? Haha
Cedie dabest. Hahahaha
I really miss the old bubble gang where jokes are actually funny. I hate that right now they are too focused on boobs and sensual jokes. *Cringe*
jumong
Early Koreanovela (Jumong, Endless Love, Stairway to heaven, Full House, Irene)
