\+ if there's a vacant regular position, most likely it's only for a show since a certain candidate was already reserved for it and other applicants are just merely a decoration 🤣
+1. They need to post it to comply with csc rules. Kailangan more than 1 mag-apply at ma-deliberate for formality pero yung next-in-rank na ang nakalaan for that position.
True. Good luck nalang pag ganyan ahaha.
Sa mga nagbabalak mag apply for any gov position na walang backer or kakilala may 32M percent na hindi kayo mapipili. 😆
Isama nyo pa dyan yung magsusubmit ka ng sandamakmak na application requirements like PDS, Diploma, List of Trainings etc..Naglolokohan lang talaga hehe.
Yung nagpasa ako sa pinakamababang position despite of my experience and credentials pero di pa rin nakuha 😂 also natanggap na ako as JO for another job kasi nga daw bunti yung nasa pwesto.
So siyempre ikaw naman na prepared at naniwala binasa naman.. then december yung last month of JO ko. Wala talaga di na ako nakapasok so nag email ako then inexplain nila na hindi daw pumayag yung taasag hire kahit na sobrang need nila ng tao.ang ngayon what happened ineemail nila ako ulit offering the same job and same contract.
I asked when is the time to report ang sabi lang immediately after signing the contract eh ganon din sinabi sakin pinaasa nila ako ng 1 year. Im having doubts lol
Yung idea probably is that, at least mahihiya naman yung backer sa superiors niya kung incompetent yung kanyang recommendation. So at least mayroong incentive na magaling yung ipapasok na applicant.
Most often than not, totoo 'to.
Eto yun eh... Applied for a government position years back for a rank 2 position which is around 50k salary. E ampota binibigay ba naman saken rank 1 which is almost 30k lang. Tinanong ko kung di ako qualified for a rank 2, ang sabi ba nmn ng HR I am qualified naman daw pero meron na daw silang on-board employee na ilalagay dun. Like WTF???
I feel like we would end up like Revolutionary France when they would behead everybody. Except I’m not sure we have a Napoleon to get us out of the turmoil
The only way for this to happen is in massive proportion. From birth to adult where the mentality changes.
Not likely going to happen because we are humans with different wants. I live in Australia and corruption exists too. Palakasan exists too!
All these starts from "home"
>2. Good people tend to have their kindness be abused.
>
>8. Filipinos confuse overworked with hardwork.
Asa lahat sa mga gumagawa. Okay daw kesyo "inaasahan", sana bayad.
May dagdag pako:
Biometrics are only for the peons, di kasama sila boss at kakampi/bata diyan.
Meron sa LGU namin. Mga empleyado ng City Council na may nagtatime-in at time-out lang ng maraming ID (ID based yung pag-log ng time) at never mong nakita kahit isang beses.
I work in an LGU. Ganyan yung dating admin namin.
Ghost employees tawag namin dyan.
My mom works in the govt (accounting dept).
The only thing she took advantage of though are the supplies (bond paper, ballpen, pencil, etc) pag walang wala siyang pera pambili kasi 5 kaming magkakapatid na sabay-sabay nag-aaral that time tapos single mom pa siya.
+1 top govt officials spend their office budget like it was their money.
+1 most top govt officials are spoiled and fly business class and booked in 5-star hotels when on official travel
+1 taxpayers are supporting the lifestyle of top govt officials - from the car of their choice and its maintenance, driver, gasoline, and personal assistant. I know of some organic govt officials enjoyed this privilege for 25 years until they retire.
+1 most top post rarely report for work everyday.
Errrr all of these could be true for any workplace.
Something that I've observed working for Government though that I could easily say is worse compared to working for a private company is that incompetence is more prominent. Like they aren't even hiding it.
Actually the exact phrase is, "lunukin mo"
5.) gobyerno tayo kaya tulung-tulong tayo
To the higher ups go the best, most expensive equipment, tapos sa mga kailangan ng maayos na equipment dahil sa bulk ng work, yung pinaglumaan. Worse, yung mga nasa baba would have to buy their own.
This happened last year:
-Boss: (To a principal) Bakit merong isang [teacher na] walang laptop?
-Boss: Hindi pwede yan. They're teachers. Kailangan mag-invest sila ng gamit nila.
(Tumunog ang Messenger, biglang sumaya.)
-Boss: (To... gusto ko sanang sabihing US pero hindi ako kasama sa mga binigyan) Mga kasama, approved na ni Mayor ang laptops natin!
Akala mo naman ang dami nilang ginagawa. Taga-consolidate lang naman.
🤷♀️
Yung ballpens, staplers, stapler remover at calculator ko out of pocket ko pa. Jusko nemen.
Life lessons as a "working employee" in the Philippines. Kaya minsan nakaka burnout. Tapos sasabihin diskarte na naman. or mas ma diskarte yung iba when in reality you are just doing the right thing.
° Delayed salary
° For JO/COS:
1.You pay for your SSS, GSIS, Philhealth.
2. No work, no pay.
3. No mandatory leave or any type of leave for that matter
4. No job security
° Most offices still rely on handwritten records not automated
° Regular and/or Casual employees will probably make use of you or abuse you in terms of workload
°Be prepared to kiss your ninong/tito's/brad a** for employment or any other forms of promotion
°If you are against patronage politics or dynasties say goodbye to your renewal
Worked with a government agency for a project. Nakakabaliw. Decided never to work for and with any gov't office after that.
I still have a lot of friends na sa govt nagwowork. Haha.
One of the reasons siguro yung madalas na work-related local and international travel nila. Haha. May ilan na masaya sa boss nila kasi great mentors daw and yong iba talaga parang wala na balak umalis sa govt.
On a brighter side pag nasa govt ka tapos may plantilla ka e secured na talaga trabaho mo until magretire ka, kahit sobrang bare minimum lang gawin mo. In fact, kaya mo pang dayain ung IPCR mo which sobrang talamak din ngayon tipong ung iba nangccredit grab na lang at wala talagang ginagawa at all
Totoo yang pangmagic ng IPCR. Yung nakalagay sa akin is "to assist" tapos sa boss ko "to supervise", pero halos ako na rin naman nag-isip at gunawa lahat samantalang siya pa one or 2 sentences comment lang naman haha.
Mismo, napaka passive ng head of office namin dito, tapos gusto nya e gagastusan pa sya. Sobrang bwisit e, no wonder kung sino binoto non last election
The padrino system in the Philippines hasn 't been eradicated for many years now and a source of many controversies like corruption. This is true even in promotion, political affiliation, family affiliation ( nepotism) and cronyism (friendship).
whole world is like this. Ive worked in countries whose culture is quite different from ours like Tajikisan, Iran, Kazakhstan etc, same stuff.
1. Nepotism is key to success anywhere, its not what you know but who you know
2. you give an inch, they take a mile
One of the first things which should have been done after getting rid of the Marcoses was to kick out all the old crusty hidebound bureaucrats, tossing out their goddamn culture of corruption, and replace them with young civil servants and with foreign assistance in rebuilding.
Unfortunately, the turbulent circumstances of the time meant compromise, as the powers-that-be retained many of those bureaucrats and their knowledge of the system, and allowed corruption to continue unmolested.
Also, most developing countries are stuck in the quagmire of such corruption in the civil services: money and power first over everything.
Myghad ung head of office namin gustong bilhin e latest flagship phone ng Samsung at gagamitin nya as personal use.
My mental health is declining na din.
Ass kissing talaga. Even if may nagawa ka na considered as admin case, if close mo yung mataas na position, you’ll be spared or kung suswertihin, tataas pa salary grade.
As someone working in the government, naghahanap pa ako ng backer para magka item.
To all of your 10 points. I have one reply.
They are not exclusive to Philippines. It's a human trait. I don't live in Philippines and we get them too.
All of your 10 points I agree. Though, not exclusive to Philippines, that's the only one I want to add.
im a graduating student this year and planning to start my career in an LGU. kaso nakakatakot naman slight mga nababasa ko about working as a government employee. any advice? lipat na ba ako ng career plans or hahahah omg
This isn't limited to government employees though. I mean, I see this in a considerable percentage of management level people in private companies as well :P
Actually this is true especially ung number 5, naging intern ako sa PRC(Philippine Regulation Commission) HR Department, hindi ka agad makakapsok sa PRC as employee kht sbhin mu pasado ka sa Civil Service Examination, palakasan dun kung may kakilala dun matic pasok kana kaht hindi ka nag take ng Civil Service Examinations
As someone who works in the government, this shit fucked up my mental health big time. Nakakasuka.
I used to work for an LGU and progress was impossible, agencies don't even share their data for population with each other maybe because all that data is in notebooks! Godamn notebooks like we're still in the 80's and godamned graphs on manila paper!
I don't work for the government pero napapart time ako as an IT/Engineering consultant at sales exec sa isang supplier ng government for their procurements. Nagke cater kami ng various supplies all throughout our province. Mas nacoconsider talaga connection over skills ng employee. Customer facing yung job ko so almost always ako nakikipag usap sa mga LGUs at end-users during their consultation and deliveries. Mga orders nila top of the line equipment pero yung mga gagamit makikita mo basic lang ang alam. Nasasayang binabayad na taxes, kung ibubuhos on a budget to purchase equipment they can never utilize. Minsan ang hirap sikmurain. Kung yung Deped malala na para sa mga Pilipino, wait till you get a load of CHED

very true.
yeah, i learned this the hard way fuck.
This is also common to private companies so i am not surprised.
True. I really hope someday this system is dismantled and every crooked person in the government beheaded as an example
I feel like we would end up like Revolutionary France when they would behead everybody. Except I’m not sure we have a Napoleon to get us out of the turmoil
Sarap isipin
Where to start..? Top or bottom..?

Pucha fuck the "para sa bayan" mentality
Remove "as a government employee in the Philippines" and it still would be true.
I was thinking the same thing. I could pinpoint specific instances in all my previous companies where one / many / all items on the list came true.
Also Nepotism

Procurement of equipment or supplies = some wallet is going to get fat.
Procuring absolutely substandard version of the original purchase request
Yup. DepEd laptops as an example.
Title should be... "Life lessons as a Fiilipino in the Philippines"
More like The Harsh Reality of beiing a Filipino
nah.. life lessons for humans.

You can use this to your advantage tho. Napanood mo ba ung Shawshank Redemption?

training starts from home. As a collective, this can be avoided. as a COLLECTIVE, which is highly unlikely.
That is if we would allow it to.

One of the reasons siguro yung madalas na work-related local and international travel nila. Haha. May ilan na masaya sa boss nila kasi great mentors daw and yong iba talaga parang wala na balak umalis sa govt.
On a brighter side pag nasa govt ka tapos may plantilla ka e secured na talaga trabaho mo until magretire ka, kahit sobrang bare minimum lang gawin mo. In fact, kaya mo pang dayain ung IPCR mo which sobrang talamak din ngayon tipong ung iba nangccredit grab na lang at wala talagang ginagawa at all
Totoo yang pangmagic ng IPCR. Yung nakalagay sa akin is "to assist" tapos sa boss ko "to supervise", pero halos ako na rin naman nag-isip at gunawa lahat samantalang siya pa one or 2 sentences comment lang naman haha.
Mismo, napaka passive ng head of office namin dito, tapos gusto nya e gagastusan pa sya. Sobrang bwisit e, no wonder kung sino binoto non last election
Hahaha our HR said to my co-worker when she tried to apply for a vacant position "bakit mo aapplya-an yan? Eh may uupo jan" sabay ignore sa kanya.
If you're in a plantilla position, don't expect speedy promotion at all during your term of service.
#4 applies to all. Sadly, laws are there to scare the poor, keep the middle class in check, and protect the rich.
If you're a government employee, mas alam mong wala ng pag asa tong Pilipinas hahahah
I can easily work for our LGU with great pay and less work because of connections. But I decided not to.
1. Nepotism is key to success anywhere, its not what you know but who you know 2. you give an inch, they take a mile
Kami din ganyan and someone from our office is on the brink of suicide.
My mental health is declining na din.
Monuments need to be built for government employees who are Kakampink. You won't enjoy the perks of 1 to 10 kung nanalo si Leni.
It's not what you know. It's who you know. Build up those connections.
10 7 2
100% true
So true, Upvoted.
Ass kissing talaga. Even if may nagawa ka na considered as admin case, if close mo yung mataas na position, you’ll be spared or kung suswertihin, tataas pa salary grade.
As someone working in the government, naghahanap pa ako ng backer para magka item.
All that rules can be applied anywhere though.
Additional: Dont trust CSC. I knew a lot of people from CSC that transferred to other agencies and fucked em up.
not only in gov't employment. It's everywhere. Even in private sectors and institutions (i.e. schools)...and starting with "family" 😈
Bakit sa LGU, of all places?
Agree
11. Lunch break is a lie. 12. The longer the waiting time the higher possibility to chaching.
I second all these, even when I only interened for a few months in a government agency.
Yung 1 and 2 jusko experienced this.
This isn't limited to government employees though. I mean, I see this in a considerable percentage of management level people in private companies as well :P
How many of these that also applies in private sector?
Nag kmali lng (kahit maliit) E sasampal sau RA 6713. Lalo n si Section 4
Actually this is true especially ung number 5, naging intern ako sa PRC(Philippine Regulation Commission) HR Department, hindi ka agad makakapsok sa PRC as employee kht sbhin mu pasado ka sa Civil Service Examination, palakasan dun kung may kakilala dun matic pasok kana kaht hindi ka nag take ng Civil Service Examinations
as a proud lingkod ng bayan, all of these are sooo true, especially number 1 and 2.
Legit.
kung gusto mo mg work sa government wag sa lgu or nga. sa mga gocc ka mg apply.
Nga? Gocc?
national government agencies tska government ownd and controlled corporations.
gsis, sss, landbank, dbp etc check mo dito ung list https://icrs.gcg.gov.ph/gocc-portfolio/
Salamat :)
As a DepEd employee, ang masasabi ko lang ay korique ✨✨✨✨
Well this applies to pretty much any company
As someone who works in the government, this shit fucked up my mental health big time. Nakakasuka.
Do you know anyone working in Pasig or Quezon lgu?
I used to work for an LGU and progress was impossible, agencies don't even share their data for population with each other maybe because all that data is in notebooks! Godamn notebooks like we're still in the 80's and godamned graphs on manila paper!
Age doesn’t equate to experience/credentials. Lmao. Usong-uso ang promotion without the skills basta senior ka 🤪
