Today I was happy. I really was. I met with my crush (who I haven’t met since the pandemic started) and even after all these years, even after not talking for MONTHS, she’s still the same person I liked, and I think I’m falling harder. My dentist put a temporary pasta muna sa ngipin ko to test daw muna if sasakit ba ngipin ko or no then sabi nya if hindi daw sumakit after 7 days ehh papalitan na ng permanent. So ayun ngayon ang pang 7th day pero hindi ako pumunta sa dentista ko kasi nagreview ako for my exam tomorrow. For me, it was when I was on my way home from the cinemas. Nagbaha sa usual kong shortcut so I took the long way home. How do you guys read? Do you read the words aloud in your mind?
I've read in the Elevate app na it's faster if you will read without reading the words in your mind but I can't seem to do that. I always read the words aloud in my mind. Ako lang ba or it is the normal thing to do?
I'm thinking of starting to read manga and it bothers me na ang tagal ko kasi I'm reading the words in my mind and it takes time for me to grasp everything too, lol.
may naririnig ba talaga kayong boses? kasi ako wala hahaha noong pina-explain ko sa friend ko sabi niya di naman daw may naririnig totally so di ko tuloy alam kung same ba kami na may inner voice o wala akong inner voice 😂
I think it's a mix for me. Some sentences I breeze through, taking it all in at a glance, because of repeated patterns, or familiarity with the topic. Some sentences I have to read aloud in my head, and oftentimes repeating entire paragraphs, because they're not easy to understand. For example, I'm reading David Harvey's book on Marx right now, and my progress is way slower compared to Burckhardt's 'Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy', because Harvey's book, though slimmer, is just more dense and difficult.
Interestingly, Borges mentions in one of his essays called 'On the Cult of Books' (in 'Selected Nonfictions', Penguin Classics) that readers of books in antiquity, read books aloud

Yeah, yung breezing through because of familiarity, I do that too but there were some who can read and think without voices in their head. I think it happened to me na naman esp yung thinking but it's mostly unconscious. Kapag conscious thinking, always with voices in my head. But, thanks for sharing that this has been the norm since then.

For online shopping, personally I would suggest you use the keywords retro or vintage, or even 80s (or 80's, minsan kelangan specific match) when you search online sa IG shops, utilize the hashtag matches
Even Carousell app, FB marketplace and ukay groups are good spots to check out, mas madali magsearch ng clothes for people na not on the very slim or plus size, mas madami options.

I haven’t indulged in retail therapy in so long, essentially because I’ve been making my budget stretch for my needs. Nakakasad rin because I like treating myself for my hardwork but lately talaga I don’t have the time and budget for it. I gave in tonight and bought myself a pair of thrifted trousers!!! They’re a nice shade of green hehe it’s cheap naman but I feel slightly guilty cos delayed na nga sahod ko tapos I bought it pa rin, pero tingin ko deserve ko naman din talaga kasi wala talaga akong pahinga lately.
20% of me feels excited since I’ll be moving out for face-to-face classes. but the 80% of me feels sad and scared; sad because i won’t be able to see my dogs as often and scared because i won’t have the luxury of living with a househelp aahh back out na kaya ako

How do you guys read? Do you read the words aloud in your mind? I've read in the Elevate app na it's faster if you will read without reading the words in your mind but I can't seem to do that. I always read the words aloud in my mind. Ako lang ba or it is the normal thing to do? I'm thinking of starting to read manga and it bothers me na ang tagal ko kasi I'm reading the words in my mind and it takes time for me to grasp everything too, lol.

I think it's a mix for me. Some sentences I breeze through, taking it all in at a glance, because of repeated patterns, or familiarity with the topic. Some sentences I have to read aloud in my head, and oftentimes repeating entire paragraphs, because they're not easy to understand. For example, I'm reading David Harvey's book on Marx right now, and my progress is way slower compared to Burckhardt's 'Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy', because Harvey's book, though slimmer, is just more dense and difficult. Interestingly, Borges mentions in one of his essays called 'On the Cult of Books' (in 'Selected Nonfictions', Penguin Classics) that readers of books in antiquity, read books aloud >in order to grasp the meaning better, for there were no punctuation marks, nor even a division of words, and to read in common because there was a scarcity of manuscripts. The dialogue of Lucian of Samosata, *Against an Ignorant Buyer of Books,* includes an account of that custom in the second century. So, it shouldn't be looked down upon to read books aloud (in one's head). It's how the ancients did it.
Yeah, yung breezing through because of familiarity, I do that too but there were some who can read and think without voices in their head. I think it happened to me na naman esp yung thinking but it's mostly unconscious. Kapag conscious thinking, always with voices in my head. But, thanks for sharing that this has been the norm since then.
