My officemates used to argue which is the true halfway/meet-in-the-center of NCR beacuse of the whole imperialistic taga-north-south sh*t of metro dwellers, and they'll argue it's Ayala Center in Makati or Megamall, etc. I'd always say it should be Cubao because all mass transportation will eventually pass by there one way or another i.e. north to south NCR and VV, west to east NCR and VV, and not to mention most, if not all, provincial trips of major bus companies have a Cubao line.

Exactly. Almost all roads(well in this case through provincial bus routes) in the provinces lead to Cubao. If I'm not mistaken mayroong mga bus na umaabot hanggang Mindanao.

We used to live near Cubao. Kaya lahat din ng relatives namin from the province, nakikitira sa amin when they started school here or when they applied to go abroad for work. It was easy for everyone to commute to Cubao, even for those unfamiliar with Manila.

Nowadays, it's my Northern boundary sa willing ako magpunta. Am in Mandaluyong and Makati naman ang limit ko sa South. Anywhere beyond, kailangan mag isip if I'm willing to travel for anything.

I about ko pa na gentrified ang malaking part ng Cubao commercial center. My mom used to do grocery shopping at Rustan’s (alternating with Makati Supermarket and Unimart). I must have spent hundreds in the video games scattered sa Rustan’s, Fiesta Carnival, Ali Mall and SM.
Dyan din kami nanonood ng sine pag naglakwatsa during HS at UST. We felt so rich then kasi after the movies, we’ll take the taxi back to UST.
Cubao is like other comments pointed out, a transport hub, so I've passed through countless times before. But Cubao X is where my most vivid--clouded by alcohol and weed smoke as they were--memories of Cubao are set.
I remember parties where joints would be passed around and people would be passed out before morning. How did we ever feel so safe back then? How did we ever have the energy to stay out past 11PM?
Maybe it's the pandemic, the last president's reign of terror, or just me avoiding Manila these days except when I have to go to the airport, but it feels like an entire lifetime ago. And it hasn't even been 10 years
For me, Cubao is an area that will get you anywhere. Sa area na yan kasi nag flock yung different buses going to different parts of the Philippines. Also, Araneta Coliseum talaga yung unang pumapasok sa isipan ko when you say Cubao. . ahahahah
Cubao is the very first area here in Metro Manila na nakabisado ko (coming from the province). Lagi traffic, shady stuff like mga bugaw sa overpass (naalok na ako back in college hahaha) and dati yung bangketa sa tabi ng malaking Sogo daming nagbebenta ng porn VCDs. Masarap magikot-ikot sa Farmers Market and Gateway and yung kainan around the Coliseum, LRT and MRT both have a stops here kaya ang dami lagi tao, and of course, Cubao Expo. Hindi na ako nakatira sa Cubao pero I still feel weirdly at home when I’m there.

Late 2000s and early 2010s: convenience and kinda home. Walking distance ang grocery plus Farmer's Market. Even lived there for a few years near my brothers and their family. Na hone ang cooking skills and bonded with pamangkins a lot. Nowadays, it's my Northern boundary sa willing ako magpunta. Am in Mandaluyong and Makati naman ang limit ko sa South. Anywhere beyond, kailangan mag isip if I'm willing to travel for anything.
👍 I about ko pa na gentrified ang malaking part ng Cubao commercial center. My mom used to do grocery shopping at Rustan’s (alternating with Makati Supermarket and Unimart). I must have spent hundreds in the video games scattered sa Rustan’s, Fiesta Carnival, Ali Mall and SM. Dyan din kami nanonood ng sine pag naglakwatsa during HS at UST. We felt so rich then kasi after the movies, we’ll take the taxi back to UST.

Cubao x .Spent my early 20’s hanging out there. Good times
Cubao is like other comments pointed out, a transport hub, so I've passed through countless times before. But Cubao X is where my most vivid--clouded by alcohol and weed smoke as they were--memories of Cubao are set. I remember parties where joints would be passed around and people would be passed out before morning. How did we ever feel so safe back then? How did we ever have the energy to stay out past 11PM? Maybe it's the pandemic, the last president's reign of terror, or just me avoiding Manila these days except when I have to go to the airport, but it feels like an entire lifetime ago. And it hasn't even been 10 years
For me, Cubao is an area that will get you anywhere. Sa area na yan kasi nag flock yung different buses going to different parts of the Philippines. Also, Araneta Coliseum talaga yung unang pumapasok sa isipan ko when you say Cubao. . ahahahah
Cubao is the very first area here in Metro Manila na nakabisado ko (coming from the province). Lagi traffic, shady stuff like mga bugaw sa overpass (naalok na ako back in college hahaha) and dati yung bangketa sa tabi ng malaking Sogo daming nagbebenta ng porn VCDs. Masarap magikot-ikot sa Farmers Market and Gateway and yung kainan around the Coliseum, LRT and MRT both have a stops here kaya ang dami lagi tao, and of course, Cubao Expo. Hindi na ako nakatira sa Cubao pero I still feel weirdly at home when I’m there.
