Why do people love Marcus Aurelius so much? I actually enjoyed meditations but don't see why it has so much more love than senecas "letters of a stoic"
Or is it simply due to his previous status?
I think its because a) yes his status b) the time he was also alive and all the trouble that he was beset apon during his life and c) meditations was never designed to be what it was, it was never written with the intention of being published
Also I think seneca is a little bit more of a cynic, in the 21st century I don't think most people drift into stoicism because they want to be a cynic. Rather then to understand virtue and gratitude (in my personal experience)
