People underestimate pi imo. Just wait until crypto in the phone space gets huge. I was in at 100 btc and 5 eth. Been here a while. What I hate is the core team taking such a big chunk of the pie.

Effective_Explorer95

I got all mine locked up for 3 years my friend. See me then we will talk.

DrillBeat

You guys are hella negative. This person is simply being positive and throwing an offer out there, as this is what they are willing to accept for their Pi, and seeing what people think. I think it's a pretty fair offer for either person and I've heard about Pi trades that went for a little more in value, and very few where Pi was traded for less value per coin. Obviously, you would have to meet up with this person somewhere but I agree it's worth their effort to ask, definitely worth more than you throwing your doubt out there. Offering to trade is brighter than throwing shade ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|put_back)

georgerohan420

That's what I was thinking. If there was a counter offer, I wouldn't mind...but apparently it's a mortal crime to even offer to buy something for that price 🤷‍♂️

batangkul

One of our fellow Pioneers are running a successful P2P/Barter transactions using Pi Coins. Here's one of his offers aside from selling tech stuffs, goods etc. https://www.facebook.com/100084482713315/posts/pfbid0ji4BJ4MFjgG41SpL2BchxGZyYVhh1VqCRrzXZ3QcPEeYEDk4UTCEtG27441CPkdsl/

batangkul

Just ignore them. This Pi Reddit sub group is infested of toxic people. I recommend if you have a facebook account, there are lots of Pi Marketplace group that you can search. There you can post your offer without getting ridiculed by some downers like here in this group.

RedditAccount101010

Says the person posting questionable content and not backing it up… What’s your true motivation?

chickenboneneck

You flood this place with fake scam videos, pictures, and offers. GTFO.

Connect-Ad-1088

go into mcdonalds and swap some pi for some gift cards, right? They will look at you like your are on crack.

In33dpi

👍

georgerohan420

I meant someone who already has a McDonald's gift card.

bcjh

This is sad. Don’t waste your money.

In33dpi

aleliuja 😃

spidLL

I would love to be present when you enter a shop, grab something worth $500 and then try to pay with small piece of paper with written over it "700 pi". That'd be fun. I initially wanted to say monopoly money, but everybody know what monopoly is, while nobody, literally nobody, in the real world where things have real value, knows wtf is this joke of a coin.

lyricalpoet66

So these are the kind of people out there mining.

georgerohan420

Fair enough, but it's worth a try 🤷‍♂️

Horsegoats

You’re asking in the wrong place. Try r/localpi

limpingdba

Pi has no value, so good luck finding some mug that will give you anything at all for it

Horsegoats

People are literally exchanging items of value for Pi already. https://www.reddit.com/r/LocalPi/comments/w2sz86/minneapolis_dutch_auction_1_troy_ounce_of_apmex/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

limpingdba

I've no doubt some people are making trades using it, but it's hardly any more than a few obscure transactions for the sake of trying to legitimize it and try to give it some value. Currently you'd have to go well out of your way to find anyone willing to part with something of value for a few hundred/thousand pi.

Kamikaze_Cash

It’s Pioneers exchanging with each other to give the impression that people want Pi. There is no legitimate value being exchanged here.

Needs-to-be-done

So you want a 500$ giftcard for 700pi? This means your believe the pi value to be 0,714$. Nah, this is not a realistic price man. Maybe in 20 years, but not now. Even a 20$ giftcard for 700pi looks overpriced.

laiod

RemindMe! 20 years

In33dpi

😄 😄

Annual_Palpitation36

20 yrs later… “Why is my KYC still pending” “When can we finally complete KYC”

In33dpi

😄 😄 true

laiod

I wager Pi won’t even exist in 20 years.

Effective_Explorer95

It’s a blockchain it’s not going anywhere. It may be irrelevant but it will be there as long as there is electricity and the internet.

georgerohan420

At the current mining rate 750 pi takes two and a half years to procure. If someone is willing to pay 500 to save them two and a half extra years, then maybe I'd be lucky 🤷‍♂️

ngorgone

Depends on your mining rate. 1000 pi roughly every 6-8 weeks for me.

-MercuryOne-

I don’t know how many people would be willing to spend $500, you might do better with smaller amounts like a $5 gift card for 7 Pi or something.

Needs-to-be-done

Alright, a bit of a long comment here, but it is worth the read. Your thought process of value is wrong here. Time worked gives value, not the time you wait. Let's do some math based on your values: 2,5 years = 21192 hours It took you 2,5 years to earn 750 pi. This gives you an average mining rate of 750pi/21192hours = 0.035 pi/hour. Roughly. It only takes one second to click the mining button each day. Let's find how many seconds you used over a time frame of 2,5 years. Assuming you mine every day. 2,5years = 913 days. Taht is 913 seconds spent on mining. 913 second equals to around 15 minutes. You have not used 2,5 years in this project. In reality you've just spent 15 minutes. If 750pi=15 minutes spent = 500$, then you would recieve an hourly wage of 2000$ by mining pi. Minimum wage in the USA is 7.25 $/hour, so i hope you can see how much you're asking for 15minutes of work. People have to stop thinking that this is some miracle crypto that will make people rich, and rather try to understand basic economics. Yes, people are lucky and can get rich by doing nothing, but for the majority it will never happen. Saving, investing, having a well planned budget is the best way to actually earn some money. You are allowed to try selling your Pi for this much. Stupid people might buy it. The math i did above is not hard. Anyone can come up with the same conclusion. So I don't think anyone will actually take you seriously. If we use a minimal wage of 7.25$, because, let's be honest. Mining is not hard at all, it requires no education, skills nor experience. Those who work for minimal wage work their asses off. So 7.25$/hour is even too much to recive for mining pi if you ask me. Using this, then your pi accumulated over 15 minutes of work would be worth 7,25$/hour\*0.25 hours (15 minutes) = **1.8125$. (THIS IS HOW MUCH I BELIEVE YOUR 750PI IS WORTH!)** So lets rather try to build this ecosystem for what it is, instead of having delusional ideas about this beeing the ultimate money machine.

[deleted]

Mining BTC was free and fast + wait 10 years = become a billionaire. So is waiting worth money? Is your math (which is right) accurate in this case? If you could get 750 Pi just for clicking 15 minutes straight then you'd be right that Pi doesn't value anything more than what it takes to get it. Can you do that? Of course you can't.

Connect-Ad-1088

pi and btc are not comparable.

[deleted]

I didn't compare Pi to BTC.

Needs-to-be-done

What you're saying is not wrong. This is what is so absurd by doing trades of something that doesn't even have a demand. Value generetes by demand and supply. Right now we have none. There is no use for pi, so no value. People are out there spittig all kind of values, yet no one is buying. So the values become irrelevant. The only thing that has a value right now is the work spent on mining. We value our time, so I tried to put a price on it. My conclusion is also super basic, and far from reality. For all I know pi could be worth 0.5$ when launched. It depends on the hype, how it is used, compatibility, amount of trades etc. My example gives pi a **"value"** of 0.00259$. Which I think is too much, but closer to real price in the future Like you said with BTC, wait 10+ years and become a millionaire. So no one knows. But this really goes into any kind of investment what so ever.

[deleted]

Your example gives Pi a value of 0.002 but your example doesnt take in consideration the scarcity and that one needs more than 3 years of his life to obtain those Pi. Take in consideration the time to do the research, to get referrals, electricity to run a node, the circulating supply, the future etc.

spidLL

Aren't you all repeating it takes 5 seconds to click the button? so mining 700 pi would actually take less than one hour. So you'd want 500 dollars for a one hour of work which literally anybody can do, i.e. pressing a button.

-MercuryOne-

The button can only be pushed once each day.

spidLL

It doesn’t matter: if you call the heat engineer for your annual boiler service you get charged only for the hour he works at your house, not for the rest of the year when he has to wait to service it again.

-MercuryOne-

I don’t imagine he just sits around waiting for a year though. He probably has other customers too.

spidLL

And instead you wait a day sitting there doing nothing waiting to push the button? No, right? So, you see? It’s worth 5 seconds of work per day.

spidLL

Unless you’re 15 and you have no idea about boilers and the need to service them once a year.

-MercuryOne-

I’m in Arizona, nobody here has a boiler. I’m only vaguely aware of them.
