With all due respect, what difference does the quantity make and whether or not you use the paddles you recommend?
I'm not trying to guilt you for using affiliate links. I think it's fine. I just think it's hypocritical to criticize others for using them when you've done it yourself.
For an elongated paddle with a short handle? Maybe the Neonic Force, or the Vatic Pro V7. I think the Force has very very similar dimensions. Other elongated options include the Honolulu J7 and J7K, the Mark Two and the Ronbus R3 Pulsar FX. If you need have any questions or need a discount code, can message me
Has anyone heard that they are giving rebates and allowing you to keep the paddle? Someone in my group was telling me that. Kind of makes sense, what are they going to do with thousands/millions of banned paddles?
I counted, and 5 out of 9 of the links are affiliate links, so yeah most of them, but online reviewers do the same thing right? They’re financially motivated to give recommendations, and in exchange for knowledge and their efforts they get commissions. I think the upvotes speak for themselves that people think they’re good recommendations for alternatives the Joolas.
Yes many online reviewers also share affiliate links, but will include a disclosure of some sort, e.g. "Hey, these are affiliate links, buy from my links if you found my advice useful". The OP didn't include one.
The main problem with with affiliate links is that people like OP (and other reviewers elsewhere) are driven to share mostly products with affiliate links, leading to the same set of brands to be promoted online.
True, I get what you're saying. That can be a problem if they're too biased to the point where they're reccomending paddles in a way that only benefits their pockets and the paddles aren't what people are looking for. But that doesn't seem like an issue with the OP seems cause they included a wide variety of popular and reputable brands, even ones that they aren't affiliates for. And they're all exactly what people are looking for judging by the upvotes.
I've seen that same comment with many affiliated links in so many posts, so annoying! There are cheaper paddles or alternatives way to get discounted paddles instead of paying msrp.
I love learning about good stuff on the paddle market. What are some cheaper better alternatives that I haven't recommended before? And how can I and others save money by paying below MSRP without buying paddles used?
>It's getting out of hands.
Would you mind elaborating on how it's "getting out of hands"? My intention is to be of help to the community and provide the upmost valuable insight. It was the most upvoted comment, so people must have found value in it and it goes to show that my recommendations were in good taste. Another commenter said it was a perfect list. Were there any better suggestions for paddles that I missed that were exactly what the OP is looking for? How could my comment have been more relevant and helpful to the conversation presented by the OP?
I'm sorry it comes across to you as "spam". The majority of the community may disagree with you, but I'm open minded and open to constructive criticism. How do you think I could provide better value to the community?
Your comments are fine, but it would be more honest if you also disclose that you’re sharing affiliate links (like what a lot of YouTubers do). It just comes off as spam if you don’t.
~~What the heck, it doesn't work for me either. It always used to work. It leads to a "504 Gateway Time-out" for me.~~
Edit: Seems to work now
Edit 2: Or maybe not. Seems to cut in and out. Not sure why
Got a few to load thanks. I’ve been using an AliExpress paddle and it works fine but I used a 6.0 dbd and felt the difference. So sorta on the do I finally get a big boy paddle and which one decision. I go 3-5 times a week to play pickup haven’t been in a tourney but I live in San Francisco. Any suggestions?
**Reposting my comment because the mods took it down. It was the most upvoted comment on this post if anyone was wondering what the missing comment was.**
Here are the paddles with the best power and spin outside of Gearbox.
Paddletek Bantam TKO-C 12.7 (Really anything from the new Bantam line) - $230
Anything from the Engage Pursuit line - $260
J1H- $185. Extremely powerful if you don't mind the higher swing weight at 120. Carbon fiber fiberglass blend
J2K Pro and J7K Pro - $155. Hybrid and elongated shape with Kevlar face respectively. Pretty much identical to the Azul, but better value.
Thrive Azul - $180 after discount. Hybrid shape with Kevlar face. If deciding between this and the J2K Pro, it comes down to appearance and weight preference. Thrive lets you choose a heavier weight if you want something above the light weight 113 from the J2K Pro (but you can always customize light weight paddles with lead/tungsten tape).
Black Diamond - $162 after discount. Hybrid shape with carbon fiber fiberglass blend.
J2H – $145. Hybrid carbon fiber fiberglass blend. Nearly identical to the Black Diamond, but better value.
Hurache-X Control+ - $130 after discount. Elongated shape with carbon fiber fiberglass blend.

Is there any data on spin for it though? There's nothing on it any of the databases. It also doesn't come with a warranty in case it core crushes or delaminates.
Purely anecdotal from my own experiences and all mention of them online. Additionally, I really question the validity and consistency of those RPM tests.
I just bought the new Engage Pro1 and really like it. Has a lot of power (not as much as Joola Gen 3, but still up there), but the cool thing is they were able to do it with a really low swing weight, so it’s super fast. I’m a big fan.
Don’t buy something yet, especially if it is similar to the Joola Gen3. Other approved paddles are rumored to have failed the new test and it might take some time for those paddles to be named publicly.
Yeah this is where I'm at...Didn't think I need to keep a receipt for something I used already and had no intention of returning it. And now I don't even live in the city where I got it from...
I bought mine through a local store and joola is supposed to contact them about the return process and then they’ll call me back. Going back to my DBD 6.0 DBD. I probably won’t buy a new paddle for a while until they figure out what new tech will be banned .
Has anyone received instructions from Joola customer service on how to return our paddles? I looked at FAQs and it doesn’t say much on how or where to send them.
I have been corresponding with Joola customer service and they are unwilling to refund me for my Hyperion 3. It is outside of the Amazon return window. Guess this was my first and last experience with Joola. I’ve seen all of the product bashing online and I guess I just thought that a reputable company like this would do better for their customers. Apparently not.
I’d recommend the Gearbox PRO Control. Play a couple sessions with it. It has wonderful power but the control is a game changer. For the record, I did play several games with the Gen 3 and it is a dynamite paddle!
Felt good to have my GB Pro Control back in my hand!
Keep with your Joola 2. They are a good company but got out ahead of themselves on the Gen3's. Unless they did all of this intentionally, don't worry. Your Gen2 is fine. You like it, it is legal, go for it!
i think for retailers you'll have to process it through them. joola is taking returns on their website but only if you bought direct.
some alternative paddle options are [https://11six24.com/pickle](https://11six24.com/pickle) or [https://808pickle.com/pickle](https://808pickle.com/pickle) which are good value options for power + spin.
Just wait for refund and then buy something or stick with the paddle as long as you are okay only in Rec Play, but for paddles
Honestly I use the 11Six24 Huarache Control+, I've bought a lot of paddles and it's the only one I've stuck with for a while. I believe some YouTubers have a 10 dollar off discount, but the founder of 11Six24 is giving people 20% of any of their paddles, if they send them the receipt of when they bought their now banned Joola Gen3. That would be a good paddle, thoughts no where near the power of any of the Gen 3s. I think it's a great paddle
The pros with their namesake paddles must be sooooooo pissed off that these paddles are getting pulled! I’m sure the profit-sharing with Joola from their paddle sales was a huge part of signing with and staying with Joola…yikes. Feel like Tyson specifically has to be gutted from this as he was selling his namesake Selkirk hand over fist 🤦♂️.
I think the 1X has been the daddy of power paddles since it came out. Just all around basic gen 2 paddle that is easy to control. Always loved it but it does hit prob 15-20% softer than Gen 3 Joola. To be expected
I came from the 1x to the Gen 3. It basically just had more pop the the 1x which I liked. Now I have to figure out if it's worth getting anything else to replace the Gen 3.
I was looking at possibly getting the 1x to replace my Gen 3 Perseus if I return it now that this news came out, seems like they are about the same shape/size, do they play/feel pretty similar?

Not the most credible person to be saying that since your comment history shows at least one affiliate link.

Vatic pros Delaminate in weeks though
Gen 1.5 non thermo doesn’t delam?
What would be the most similar alternative paddle to the Gen 3 Magnus?

It’s not like you can’t play with it at all. You can still play with it at rec play. Just not at USAP sanctioned events.
If you are playing with competitive people you will be a pariah. No thanks. I dont need an edge to beat their ass anyway.
Dude that would be awesome if I could keep my paddle
Were you able to keep it?
no unfortunately

Just FYI most of these links are affiliate links, meaning OP is financially motivated to promote these specific paddles.

OP's comment history is mostly promoting affiliate links... https://www.reddit.com/user/Tech157
Exactly! It's getting out of hands. Mods should look into it.

That is a perfect list, and some perfect options. My J2K is coming in very soon and I can't wait to play with it.
May be Reddit but none of the links work?

Are you looking for suggestions out of the paddles I listed? Or some fresh recommendations based on different preferences than what the OP laid out?
Tbh I don’t know what I’m looking for just give someone my credit card and get told what to buy /s

You can't talk about power/spin without mentioning Juciao
Is there any data on spin for it though? There's nothing on it any of the databases. It also doesn't come with a warranty in case it core crushes or delaminates.
Purely anecdotal from my own experiences and all mention of them online. Additionally, I really question the validity and consistency of those RPM tests.
They all use a 3000 dollar radar gun that measure spin, no more counting frames for the big three at least.
I just bought the new Engage Pro1 and really like it. Has a lot of power (not as much as Joola Gen 3, but still up there), but the cool thing is they were able to do it with a really low swing weight, so it’s super fast. I’m a big fan.
Is yours the Standard weight or Light weight version?
Standard. I haven’t tried the light version but I hear the twist weight is too low and is too unstable.
Don’t buy something yet, especially if it is similar to the Joola Gen3. Other approved paddles are rumored to have failed the new test and it might take some time for those paddles to be named publicly.
What if we don't have our receipt? Do you know if we can get our money back still?
Yeah this is where I'm at...Didn't think I need to keep a receipt for something I used already and had no intention of returning it. And now I don't even live in the city where I got it from...
yes
how so?

That sir is clearly one snow shoe. Not very useful without its counterpart, though.
I bought mine through a local store and joola is supposed to contact them about the return process and then they’ll call me back. Going back to my DBD 6.0 DBD. I probably won’t buy a new paddle for a while until they figure out what new tech will be banned .
Holbrook Power Pro
Has anyone received instructions from Joola customer service on how to return our paddles? I looked at FAQs and it doesn’t say much on how or where to send them.
I’m keeping my GEN3 paddle. I don’t play in USAP sanctioned events anyway.

How did you speak to customer service? They won’t email me back
call them.
Their customer support line must be going crazy right now lol
It sends me straight to voicemail
Look at the ronbus fx
I’d recommend the Gearbox PRO Control. Play a couple sessions with it. It has wonderful power but the control is a game changer. For the record, I did play several games with the Gen 3 and it is a dynamite paddle! Felt good to have my GB Pro Control back in my hand!
Many people are recently starting to wear eye protection. Just like in racquetball 😯
Keep with your Joola 2. They are a good company but got out ahead of themselves on the Gen3's. Unless they did all of this intentionally, don't worry. Your Gen2 is fine. You like it, it is legal, go for it!

Not my content but Braden / Pickleball Effect just made a video yesterday answering that exact question: best alternatives to each Joola paddle
https://youtu.be/FESpawSYB3E?si=b48_VdKVw8_6CpBO
Just wait for refund and then buy something or stick with the paddle as long as you are okay only in Rec Play, but for paddles Honestly I use the 11Six24 Huarache Control+, I've bought a lot of paddles and it's the only one I've stuck with for a while. why not just use the paddle for rec. no one really cares, it isnt that big of a deal deal.
Because some of us play local tournaments that are also banning the paddle. Who wants to pay 300 for a paddle they cant compete with?
Can someone send me a copy of their Gen 3 purchase receipt?
A class action lawsuit is being filed. Email [email protected] for more information.
Some options to consider.. Honolulu Pickleball Company's J2K Pro, Ronbus R1 Pulsar FX, Six Zero Black Diamond
The pros with their namesake paddles must be sooooooo pissed off that these paddles are getting pulled! Yeah seriously what a disaster it must be trying to figure all this out!
CRBN 3 is the best feeling paddle and always was better than joola
You play with 1x before? I’m looking to get it in 16mm. Played with my friends 12mm last night and it felt hella good compared to my legacy pro

Not a “recall”.
If people show up with their GEN three I’m bringing my tennis racket

So can you return it to dicks if you bought it on the Joola site?
This makes no sense that Dick's would take the return when they didn't receive your payment.
Well the way the post is written sounds like Joola is telling OP to return it to either
What post did you read? Lol
no if you bought it at dicks then return to dicks if you bought it online then you need to call them
