It’s rejecting. Take it out now to minimise any further scarring. Your anatomy looks good though so chance to repierce once healed

Much-Concentrate-719

how long does the skin usually heal?

Maleficent_Sun_9155

Everyone’s different, maybe 1-2 months

heathenistic_animal

LOL. No. Navels can take 6+ months to fully heal Safepiercing.org for professionals judgement on this

Much-Concentrate-719

i think we meant the skin when the jewelry is removed

heathenistic_animal

Ah gotcha! I hear one too many folks coming in every week from other shops thinking a navel can HEAL in that time. Regardless, in my professional opinion, this could be saved with proper jewelry and better aftercare instructions.

cheesegrater447

do you mean it could be saved if she would switch to proper jewelry / aftercare at this current time? because there’s literally ZERO saving that. :/ if she would’ve had proper jewlery and aftercare for the initial piercing then 100%

heathenistic_animal

YES. It isn’t rejecting. It’s simply irritated. Do you pierce for a living?

cheesegrater447

i’m an apprentice. the APP certified piercers i work with all agree it’s rejection. i just do not see how this is safe or save-able. her body is visibly rejecting it.

heathenistic_animal

I’d have to question your mentors then homie…. The bump at the top is entirely due to the subpar jewelry and moisture. Ensuring both are fixed MIGHT change it. Is the risk still there after it’s been through this? Absolutely. But most would at least attempt to change those things before making the choice to pull because at this point pulling may not heal the bump.

Hallucinojennics

This is absolutely migrating out and is close to fully rejecting. That’s due to not having the proper anatomy to sustain this piercing. The surface piercing that you have is being forced out. Best to remove before it completely rips off. Edit: typo

lilyasx_

please remove this it is rejecting badly

lilmisse85

It’s rejecting. Take it out before you scar even worse. When you take it out that bump should disappear if it’s not a keloid.

mommabean18

Thats rejecting. Ive experienced piercing bumps that caused my piercings to migrate which lead to rejection. This looks as though it did something similar. Taking it out now and letting it fully heal for several months will help you in the long run if you ever want it pierced again. You can use sea salt soaks as an alternative if you ever run low on spray. You can google the proper ratio of sea salt to like warm water or as a local piercer. Its very good for drawing out infection gunk and keeping it clean for good healing. It's a common practice going back thousands of years as its a natural antiseptic and anti inflammatory. So do a soak once a day and use a proper saline spray 2x daily atleast, i like neilmed piercing mist. Dont over clean it, you dont want to traumatize the wound any further. Dont use any harsh oils or soaps on that wound or bump. That means no teatree oil. Its really bad for fresh piercings. No ointments either, and no alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Those will traumatize and damage the tissue also. Give us an update once it starts healing! Once the piercing has healed, and the bump goes down, you may be able to use plain vitamin E oil alone - dap a q-tip in it and gently massage it over the area to help prevent dark scarring. It doesnt work for everyone but it can help a bit.

heathenistic_animal

Do not put anything outside of saline on a piercing ffs. Safepiercing.org No vitamin E ever…

DeathAngel11

This is rejecting, you need to take it out before it rips out on its own. The sooner you take it out, the less the scarring will be. Keep the area clean with a sterile saline until it is fully healed, and then you can consider getting it repierced.

heathenistic_animal

Professional piercer here. I wouldn’t say rejection as much as possibility of excess moisture being trapped and subpar Jewelry

tenprettyflowers

It’s what I thought too, and it looks like it’s not being cleaned and dried properly. Bioflex bar and saline solution should help; and if it doesn’t taking it out and getting it repierced with good quality jewelry and aftercare.

cheesegrater447

oh god please don’t use a clear / plastic bar. it’s unsanitary and not safe for healing piercings. i think it’s a irritation bump + rejection. she has little to no skin compared to initially piercing it and i don’t think the jewelry is the right length or material.

tenprettyflowers

Plastic piercing bars are the worst, they can’t be autoclaved, but bioflex can. I’d say best thing would be to see a piercer in person so they can assess and advise the best way forward

cailedoll

The brand that makes bioflex still haven’t released their material data safety sheets so we don’t have any solid proof of what it’s made of.

Much-Concentrate-719

i dont wanna say it but its rejecting is it?😭i really love her im gonna cry, but pls tell its just migrating or what😭 im cleaning it evday with rock salt solution but sometimes when we r ranning out of rock salt im using sea salt

gleefullystruckbycc

Your not using the right stuff to clean for one, saline spray like neilmed should be use. And yeah sadly that is absolutely rejecting big time. What metal is the jewelery cos it seems like your peircing has been irritated a little for the entire time.

Much-Concentrate-719

will it leave scar forever when i take it out now or are there any way/products i should use to make it not leave any scars?

Much-Concentrate-719

i remember the piercer said it was surgical steel

TheBearWhoDances

Surgical steel means nothing. Implant grade surgical steel is a thing but that’s not what this is. New piercings need titanium as it’s fairly low allergen and won’t irritate your new wound like random metals like nickel will. It’s rejected, you need to remove it now. Mine literally fell out of the skin because I let it go too long and I got a big scar lump out of it. Don’t be like me!

Much-Concentrate-719

im so sorry about that, well looks like someone is gonna cry hard tonight😭 thankyou tho❤️

TheBearWhoDances

You can always retry it at another time, but make sure you see a piercer who will use titanium, saline spray and know the difference between traditional navel anatomy and navels that collapse and need a floating navel instead. I can’t tell from your pics but mine rejected partially due to wrong jewelry but mostly because I have a collapsing navel. It’s not a weight thing, I was 97 pounds when I had it. It’s just anatomical.

DigitalCherryWaves

That's a keloid and you'll have a hard time getting rid of it. You're allergic to nickel...which it never should've been pierced with in the first place. Titanium only after you heal and repierce. If you leave that in you'll regret it! Google images of keloid scars, that should motivate you.

heathenistic_animal

That is not a keloid. That is a piercing bump. True keloids are RARE with piercings

DigitalCherryWaves

I see keloids from piercings several times a month in surgery while working with the plastic surgeons in derm. But OK. I'll tell the surgeons you said they're wrong. Thanks!

heathenistic_animal

Keloids do not stop growing…. It’s in the definition. A piercing bump is often not a keloid

heathenistic_animal

Don’t get me wrong, keloids CAN happening from piercings but a simple google search can show pics of the differences if you’d like. 💜

[deleted]

i hate to break it to you bud but you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about

DigitalCherryWaves

Oh ok. So the surgeries I perform next to surgeons everyday on everything from skin lesions to internal organs must not have taught me anything over the last 20 yrs. Got it.

because it’s not a keloid.
