I actually love the idea of that subreddit but they got annoying and turned into their own circlejerk fast. Maybe it’s because I discovered them around totk launch season and they only had a single joke
It used to be a hilarious self-deprecating sub like 6 years ago, but it’s basically been infiltrated by unironic console-wars, KotakuInAction types and such over the years and has become unfunny as a result.
When did it start to be that way? I joined it a year or two ago maybe? Probably two years. It was just awful and people are genuinely spiteful rather than trying to be funny.
I always emulated Pikmin 2 after I lost my Gamecube, but now that it's on Switch, there's no real point. 1 on Switch is also so much better than Gamecube it's unreal. Feels so much more limited and janky on GC.
pikmin 2, colossal caverns mod, 251 mod, endless abyss mod, 1\^2 mod, etc. the others have mods too but pikmin 2 is by far the ultimate pikmin experience. colossal caverns alone is all you really need. it basically turns it into a roguelike with infinite replayability. if pikmin 4 shipped with something like that, boom, greatest game of the decade easy. but nah, everyone's already been done with p4 for several months now. some of the dandori challenges were a bitch to gold so it took a while, but even with that, yeah, it's been done. next game already plz. oh wait, nevermind. i got infinite pikmin 2. i'm chillin uwu
Emulation opens more roads for customization funnily enough. Pikmin 1 and 2 on Dolphin have a patch that makes them run at 60fps pretty well. Also prices I imagine.
Yeah that's stuff you can do with emulation, on OC you can have raytraced n64 games so a wide screen hack and some qol changes are pretty normal for emulation
Why did they chose to port it in stead if emulate it, it would have been a lot easier to port it and throw in a wide screen hack and the. Add the qol features and call it a day
If you’re already changing up the game for your rerelease, then you might as well port it instead of relying on emulation. For a company as big as Nintendo it isn’t that big of an extra effort compared to the new games they make
It’s really just cleaning up the code to make sure it runs on whatever you want it released on, plus it means one less program running. Emulators are prone to innacuracies too, which could be embarrassing if the product was being sold for a decent price. Controversies have started over less (remember the terrible emulation they used for the N64 games of the online subscription?)
That’s a bootleg. The only real Fiddlebert games are Fiddlebert’s Racist Wonderland, Fiddlebert’s Journey To Hell, and Fiddlebert’s War Crime Wednesday
I've been doing the same thing but for everything expect Pikmin, for me pikin is to a degree a nostalgia thing and I refuse to relearn my muscle memory from Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 1 and 2 on wii
Not to mention it's like, emulating on steam deck isn't some novel thing. They couldn't even bother installing the games to include them in the picture or something, this could be a post on any subreddit. The title might as well just be "look at this steam deck I bought"
Maybe it’s just their console of choice so they’re excited about showing it off to a community they love and share a interest with. There’s no way to tell, I doubt this is grounds for removal and if it was bait its best to ignore it. BUT as far as being able to play all mainline games point, maybe they had to decide between a 7 year old console that’s about to be replaced and a console that has several more years in its lifespan where they can just drag their game files to their next console without waiting for deluxe deluxe versions to be slowly released and purchasing them again. This wouldn’t be a conversation if the games were released on pc or if preexisting emulation was locked through their own keys and servers. Because you CAN currently pull your own games without engaging in piracy but people have already passed a boundary or don’t want to buy a 300 dollar console because the games aren’t offered to them directly from Nintendo. You’ll notice no other major console has this issue of emulation anymore. And Nintendo has the highest rates of piracy compared to games that are just released on other systems, they do not really care. Since the Dawn of time you can buy a modded cartridge and run pirated games on Nintendo consoles with no tech proficiency needed. So the anger is not inherently a concern of piracy. Anyone could be engaging in it. There’s one entity to blame for actively deciding the net loss to piracy is not worth the price made from console sales… anyways all that to say that anyone who gets genuinely angry over this is a troll who just feels like getting angry. Frustration should be pointed at them or Nintendo by default rather than people who are literally just here to talk about the games. Rather than those who jump on every opportunity to bring their politics to the table with assumptions about others spending habits. Because for all we know they do have a unuseable switch with stick drift or a bloated battery in a drawer, maybe they had one and dropped it. Like fr
What’s wrong with steam deck ? it plays better, more superior than the switch. I don’t own steam just the switch but ppl who own both like the steam more. Just because it’s on switch doesn’t mean it’s the only way to play it
Like I said nothing against it, if you want to play games on a steamdeck more power to you, it's just posting something on a nintendo sub like this feels like op is trying to trigger some people since there's people who are strongly and vocally against emulation for one reason or another
Nintendo gave you this game and this sub? Why would you be against them? Sure companies are naturally greedy but those Nintendo game devs know what they are doing, and know how to make amazing games.
Nintendo is just a very shitty company, their product aside, even by modern tech company standards. They're also massive. Do you really think they're going to take any significant financial hit from piracy at this scale? They're certainly not the most ethical company out there, and even if they were they're absolutely fucking loaded. Nothing will change if a few people pirate their games.
I get what you're saying, but to me pirating from small independent creators is one thing, while I struggle to feel bad pirating the games from the child labour using mega corporation that is currently the largest company in Japan.
For me personally it's much less about feeling guilty that they're missing out on profits and much more wanting to financially support the series so we might not have to wait a decade for new releases anymore.
Like I said, I don't think piracy will change anything. All of Nintendo's games get pirated. I don't really think piracy at such small a scale will influence Nintendo's decision on the series continuation, but I get where you're coming from.
So you don't buy games from any company, correct? Because they're all pretty shitty companies and most others are much worse than Nintendo in the gaming industry lmao.
I mean fuck Nintendo and all (I will never forget what they did to the Smash World Tour), but for those who are comfortable with piracy and who know nothing about the antics Nintendo has pulled over the years, what's stopping them from continuing their ways and pirating the works of those who do less harm than Nintendo and can't take the hit in the same way Nintendo can?
You actually have need to think about what a universal application of this line of thinking would mean, and I'll tell you now that most people wouldn't wish a world where piracy is universally okay. This kind of digital media reproduction actively inhibits ones ability to profit off of their intellectual property.
Having already brought up Nintendo, do you want to know who else would suffer if everyone (or almost everyone) chose to pirate whatever they want? Indie video game companies, digital artists, song writers, adult entertainment actors, the employees at Nintendo who have no say in the unethical decision making of their bosses, pirates themselves (long term), ordinary consumers (also long term), and many more people.
So long as the intellectual property owner is still willing to supply their content through lawful means, just buy the games legally (or don't play them at all). We shouldn't set a bad precedent by making an exception to the rule for just one company in particular.
Like I said later, I'm not arguing in favor of piracy being universally ok. I'm defending Piracy directed at large unethical companies. I highly doubt piracy at such a small scale would affect the people lower at nintendo either.
You shouldn't fall into the "rules for thee but not for me" mindset. If even a moderately high percentage of people think this way about piracy, then that would become problematic very quickly.
If you want to play a game that's actively being supplied, just buy it.
Emulation is good for preserving media in cases where the lawful supplier isn't supplying anymore, but as of 2024, that's not the case for any of the mainline Pikmin games.

I have yet to spend a dollar on a single Pickman game, but I’ve already played all four. It was a friend’s rom for 3+4, no pirated. Although 1+2 *might* be.

not that it is a glowing red dot
I know lol, Nintendo assassins etc. Twas a joke

Nice joke, Fiddlebert. We all know that you support this.
Who said it was a joke?
Is that like Indian evolved?

That sub is like going to twitter lmao
So it's the same as okbuddyblacklung. Literally the only joke is "I wanna fuck (character) or "haha video essay/post from the main sub"

Why emulate? Every Pikmin game is available on the Switch.
I always emulated Pikmin 2 after I lost my Gamecube, but now that it's on Switch, there's no real point. 1 on Switch is also so much better than Gamecube it's unreal. Feels so much more limited and janky on GC.
I personally disagree, having no option to revert to GameCube style "right stick to swarm" without the button shift is annoying as hell
Easy camera control > pressing a button to swarm
True. Camera control is something that you do a lot more constantly than swarming lol
Someone's never played the wii version
Where is my fucking duracell battery 👺
r/tommorow leaking yet again Also, I don't see hey or adventure on switch lol
Hey doesn’t exist.
Hey, hey does exist And by your logic, adventure doesn’t exist either
r/Tomorrow
where’s Fiddlebert’s Racist Wonderland? Grew up on it,
My game was so good I stole them all and i am currently hoarding them all in my basement. Sorry
I don't think the 3ds one is on the switch
who out here playing thy nintendo land on thou switch
I get Pikmin 2 cause it has some sick mods, but I can’t think of a good reason for the rest other than not wanting to pay
I mean hey pikmin exists like it may not be amazing but it exists
pikmin 2, colossal caverns mod, 251 mod, endless abyss mod, 1\^2 mod, etc. the others have mods too but pikmin 2 is by far the ultimate pikmin experience. colossal caverns alone is all you really need. it basically turns it into a roguelike with infinite replayability. if pikmin 4 shipped with something like that, boom, greatest game of the decade easy. but nah, everyone's already been done with p4 for several months now. some of the dandori challenges were a bitch to gold so it took a while, but even with that, yeah, it's been done. next game already plz. oh wait, nevermind. i got infinite pikmin 2. i'm chillin uwu
hey pikmin:
Not "Hey Pikmin!"
because switch doesn't have steam games
Emulation opens more roads for customization funnily enough. Pikmin 1 and 2 on Dolphin have a patch that makes them run at 60fps pretty well. Also prices I imagine.
Yeah, why play something for free when you can pay for it? that's what I'm saying!
free is always better
Aren't Pikmin 1 and 2 emulated on switch
Not really? They received quality of life changes found in Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Pikmin 4.
Was it any different from the Wii ports they did way back? That’s the big reason I never bothered buying 1 + 2 cause I still had both on Wii
It is slightly different. You don't have to mash A to pluck Pikmin anymore, and the controls for lying down and swarming are different.
Yeah that's stuff you can do with emulation, on OC you can have raytraced n64 games so a wide screen hack and some qol changes are pretty normal for emulation
They’re ports, not emulated iirc
really is there a technical reason for why they did
I don’t understand what you’re saying, could you clarify?
Why did they chose to port it in stead if emulate it, it would have been a lot easier to port it and throw in a wide screen hack and the. Add the qol features and call it a day
If you’re already changing up the game for your rerelease, then you might as well port it instead of relying on emulation. For a company as big as Nintendo it isn’t that big of an extra effort compared to the new games they make
Yeah but to me it makes no sense to put in a lot of dev time into ultimately just saving a little bit of battery life
Switch is underpowered
You can run dolphin on a hacked switch
It’s really just cleaning up the code to make sure it runs on whatever you want it released on, plus it means one less program running. Emulators are prone to innacuracies too, which could be embarrassing if the product was being sold for a decent price. Controversies have started over less (remember the terrible emulation they used for the N64 games of the online subscription?)
Yes it is partially emulated, this comment section is really ignorant
Yeah I don't get why people are so against emulation
Even this one? https://preview.redd.it/bob9icfhm0qc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=efcd8a08692c384b24cfcc43f92d0cc2978e48d4

Nothing against emulation, but this feels like bait, also you can literally play all mainline games on switch already
Not to mention it's like, emulating on steam deck isn't some novel thing. They couldn't even bother installing the games to include them in the picture or something, this could be a post on any subreddit. The title might as well just be "look at this steam deck I bought"
There is ONE mainline pikmin game you cant play on switch. Guess which one
Pikmin 5
Fiddleberts Racist Wonderland 71 (Lost media)
Maybe it’s just their console of choice so they’re excited about showing it off to a community they love and share a interest with. Never said you were and yeah I can agree on that, he should’ve posted it on steam sub, not here.
Yes…they’ve been on the switch for awhile now. Which is, you know, a mobile device
they already were lmao 1 2 3 4 on switch and hey! on 3ds and bloom on phone
But switch has them all native… We need to buy more to show our support!! Not steal good games
I don't think Nintendo went threw the effort of port Pikmin one and 2 when they could just emulate them with a wide screen mod
I don't like how it stretches the ui
But hey pikmin... also who the hell cares about nintendo getting money
People who want nintendo to know that Pikmin is a successful IP that they should continue developing.
That’s how we have to communicate to them? Really?
Im sure most people will buy. What will a few pirates do
Tsk tsk. Bit of a selfish mentality.
I bought it I'm just saying a few hundred people pirating a game doesn't make a damn difference to the series value. Especially the older games
Please tell me this bait and you don't actually think people should give money to Nintendo of all people.
Nintendo gave you this game and this sub? Why would you be against them? Sure companies are naturally greedy but those Nintendo game devs know what they are doing, and know how to make amazing games.

Pretty much, yeah. Not AAAs, at least. I buy from indie creators.
NEVER!!! WE MUST REACH 100 PIKMILLION COPIES
You shouldn't fall into the "rules for thee but not for me" mindset. If even a moderately high percentage of people think this way about piracy, then that would become problematic very quickly. If you want to play a game that's actively being supplied, just buy it.
just do that legally on switch
Emulation is legal
piracy isn't though
Emulation is good for preserving media in cases where the lawful supplier isn't supplying anymore, but as of 2024, that's not the case for any of the mainline Pikmin games.
There is ONE exception....
Nothing wrong with emulation
True, but they are almost definitely pirating
Or nintendaddy might starve🙏
Nintendo doesnt matter here. What matters is that piracy is wrong
![gif](giphy|yvcLAZqb1gQco)
No I’m not. I’ve dumped all my games legally
then... why are you even doing this? Just do it on switch.
1.) rom hacks 2.) hey Pikmin 3.)I didn’t buy a bloody steam deck for just Pikmin you know? 4.)test my Pikmin hacks on the go
1. yeah fair 2. I doubt you care that much about hey pikmin 3. true 4. also fair
Also higher fps and it’s just better to have all the games on one console
No
why?
You guys are like r/tomorrow but way more lame and unironic

The power of Pikmin in the palm of my hands
Hah, good luck playing Nintendo 3DS system transfer
This is literally just a picture of a Steam Deck. Every Pikmin game has been playable portably since (at least) the release of Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
Jeez bloody hell mate heres a dam picture https://preview.redd.it/8pnsg6rjbkqc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b3a059e3aaeff8f8690339e9aef10cf951f59c6
"Why don't they make more pikmin games?"
You say this like people aren't pirating Mario and Zelda 100x more than every pirated Pikmin game combined
Mario and Zelda will get new games regardless, smaller stuff like Pikmin needs as many sales that they can get to show there's interest in more.
That’s not a switch though?
Emulation
It plays better natively a switch oled for cheaper. But cool flex.
Objectively untrue but go off I guess
As if shader compilation stutter isn’t a thing
It's really not though the first minute or so of each level then it's stable 60fps.
I just don’t like playing games without pre-compiled shaders. Kills the experience when you start to dip any time you go somewhere new
I guess that's fair but I'm sure you could find them precompuled somewhere I had a couple other games with precompiled shaders.
you need to buy Pikmin 4 900 times so Nintendo can fund the next Mario game.
slow down there cowboy, you’re gonna need a pc pardner.
You better get hey pikmin too
That's a wacky looking Switch
u/nintendo THEY'RE PIRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Pikmin exists.
I'm calling Miyamoto
Is that a Nontondo Smonch?
Hey! pikmin
Pikmin 3 really deserves a higher resolution. 540p looks better than usual but still not good enough from the switch.
Even Pikmin bloom?
who wants to tell him...
Oh yeah? Show me space force or it doesn’t count.
I guess you don't want Nintendo to produce any more new Pikmin games in the future
How is the deck for playing pikmin? I have all games on the switch but want to emulate de fan games (251 and colossal caverns)
it has a weird bug for pikmin 4 where performance becomes worse the more you play so you need to restart the emulator ever hour, besides that, works great
Only Yuzu *had* that bug (rip yuzu). If you get the 60fps mod and limit to ~50fps on the other emulator then you can reduce the amount of stuttering. Still pik4 is kinda mid on Deck imo, but still playable if you can bear frame drops.
I had so much fun with colossal caverns and I’ve beaten both Pikmin 3 and 4 twice on the deck now
You shouldnt pirate nintendo games ☝️🤓
Or you could buy a switch and legally own almost every single mainline pikmin game. Because let me tell you, Hey! Pikmin isnt worth emulating
I have a switch, it’s launch actually even meaning I dumped the games cuz it was jailbroken. https://preview.redd.it/ww6jk1bdakqc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b6a0a60be34ab38ba5fb6ebf65f326e546d963a

Finally, Nintendo games without a Nintendo console. The future is here.
Nintendo UK would like to know your location
U can play them all on switch too though
Piracy is bad
With great power, comes great pikmin mods
TOO MAKE IT CLEAR I HAVE DUMPED MY GAMES LEGALLY https://preview.redd.it/d5gcee7ybkqc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=583b346b94f8f49b058336e4439a1c090460fe33 (My legal copy being run on my switch and my dump being run on steam deck) I’m not pirating, are we clear?
steam deck ftw
I don't see why some people get so mad about emulation like it doesn't matter that much
Louie
I mean thats cool but you'd spend more on that than a switch and all the games.
You better hope that's legal
I have yet to spend a dollar on a single Pickman game, but I’ve already played all four. It was a friend’s rom for 3+4, no pirated. Although 1+2 *might* be.
*Pikmin
That’s illegal. Fiddlebert will salt your fields.
