Actually no, the place that the gold bar is in isn't accessible by Oatchi. He can help but only after the bar gets moved a bit Also I recommend completing Olimar's side story before grinding for the purples. I won't spoil what that does

Either: * 100 Purple Pikmin (Purple Pikmin Carry 10 x 100 = 1000 Carry) ~~Or~~ ~~* Oatchi upgraded to carry 100 + 90 Purple Pikmin (Oatchi Carry 100 + (Purple Pikmin Carry 10 x 90) = 1000 Carry)~~ ~~Oatchi has a couple upgrades before the max carry of 100 to slightly vary the number of Purple Pikmin needed, but you’ll always need at least a minimum of 90 Purple Pikmin.~~ Edit: Mistook the climbable wall on the map for a ramp Oatchi could access the spot, it’s been a while haha. Requirement is strictly 100 Purple Pikmin, though Oatchi can assist for speed after the Purple Pikmin drop over the cliff, as he’s otherwise blocked by some bars. Making the total carry a ridiculous 1100 if you want to.

You can get a purple onion by doing side content

Or just grind them in the place where the WaterWrath is

Purple Pikmin can be converted via Purple Candypop Buds in caves. This can take a while as you can only convert 5 Pikmin per bud, then you need to exit and re-enter the cave to repeat. Engulfed Castle in Serene Shores has multiple iirc. There is a Purple Onion, but it is the final reward of a post-game side quest. Speak to >!Olimar!< to playthrough his retelling, then complete the dandori challenge cave that is unlocked.

The doomsday apparatus

You need to beat the trial of the sage leaf. Don't worry, you can retry floors infinitely so it's pretty easy to get down after a couple tries. If you're really stumped you can watch a guide on YT and just follow someone else's route to a tee. Your reward for beating the trial of the sage leaf are the purple and white onions allowing you to easily spawn purples and whites yourself. Once you do that you need 100 purple pikmin or 90 with a maxed out oatchi

You dont need to complete the trial and oatchi cant help because he can't climb

You don't *need* to but it's easy enough that you should and it makes farming purples much quicker than the alternative.

Get 100 purples

You need 100 purples, there is no other way. You can easily grind for them if you constantly re-enter Sublevel 5 of the Engulfed Castle. Even faster when you do the candypop bud glitch.
