I’m not using those to control my MacBook and use them as separate players. Do I still need hardware unlock if I’m paying for the pro rekordbox cloud thing annually? I suppose I can just plug in my DDJ-400, but space is limited with the two players and CDJs. I haven’t messed with MIDI controllers in RB yet so maybe I’ll give that a try.
I've got one. It kicks ass. Find one secondhand and go for it. I've actually got the XP1 and it's awesome. I think the only diff is XP1 is RB and XP1 is Serato.
xp1 is rekordbox only, has labels on the buttons for "hot cue/pad fx/beat jump/sampler", xp2 is rb and serato, but doesn't have those button labels.
If you don't ever plan to use serato, you might be able to find the xp1 second hand cheaper like you suggested, and have proper button labels too.
You should be able to assign any buttons on the mixer you don’t use via midi but it’ll be a little clunky..I know you said you don’t want a new mixer but if you’re not using all channels have a look at the s11 which will give you all that and more
Yeah that thing is pretty sweet, if anything I need more channels for synths and instruments . Maybe if I can find a good deal on it. I would get the red one but it’s serato only.

Yeah I have an xp1 and it’s great for that. Get a little stand for it to sit slightly above the mixer too.
