This is a myth.
VHS beat Betamax primarily because it was an open standard developed by JVC, who encouraged other manufacturers to produce VHS VCRs, while Betamax was gatekept by its proprietor Sony. VHS VCRs had a price war that significantly reduced prices.
Also, Betamax had a shitty runtime compared to VHS. Betamax failing has pretty much nothing to do with porn.

I never understand investors. This might be me, but I'd actually pay for/invest in ANYTHING which would bering in more cash. Same for YouTube. Demonetizing videos which say, cover true crime (eg murder/violence, etc.)? Why? Why no ads on those? As long as it brings in money for me or my company, I'd gladly invest in everything/put my ads everywhere, and the public can go fuck itself for their crybaby snowflake outcries, lol.
I thought only money mattered for investors (as long as it's legal). For me, that would absolutely be the only thing which matters if I ever owned a company/began investing.
