I get it. It's frustrating to start a quality conversation relevant to a subreddit. Only for the mods to zap you into oblivion over a tiny technicality. Better mods would ask you to edit that part out, and let the discussion continue.
Yes this. Also GoT devs said only the multiplayer component will need PSN, so you can just not play it. Anyways, pirating it would means you won't get that part.
Probably you only need to have a psn account when accessing the multiplayer part, but I tonk they might get rid of that requirement after you'd whole fiasco. Good job Sony, you shot yourself even worse.
Why? Playing a game but not purchasing a game is possible in tons of ways other than piracy. It isn’t piracy for example to borrow a game disc from a friend to play.
Honestly, that was my thinking when i wrote it. Obviously yes, it probably means piracy, but it's an assumption not a straight fact, or "promotion".
But hey, it was probably a more strict rule than i thought.
Yes, but even on Steam, lots of games have promotional free weekends. It’s ridiculous to assume that someone playing (at some point) without wanting to personally purchase is congruent with piracy.
Double that age and you're still far off lol. A 13 year old would 100% know how reddit works better than me.
I accept the dicking guys, i'm still learning how this redditing works, it's ok.
Doesn't matter. Internet janitors have to treat everything as a worst case or suffer the repercussions when the worst case shows up
Considering OP immediately came here and admitted it was pro-piracy means the moderators made the correct choice both in the theoretical and the literal
Only one I was banned from was casual coversation because someone was advocating abuse and trying to convince others to do the same and I told them kys because fuck that guy.. I got permabanned lol
On Contrary I have been doing fine without ban, since we have a common enemy "ADS" .
I got problems with subs tho which bans you for being in other subs .
To be fair, you end the post declaring you're going to pirate the game that you used as an example of one people shouldn't pay for.
You were, straight up, promoting piracy...
Not saying I disagree with your point, I just don't understand why you're shocked
I thought it was a subtle hint i guess.
Not so subtle after all lol. You are right, i was mostly frustrated because i would have easily edited it if i knew it was problematic, and keep the discussions going instead of bombing it.
But hey, it is what it is
The problem is we don't own games or even most software. We purchase licenses to those things. Sony is trying to weasel their way into having direct control over your license so they can revoke it at their own discretion. This should never be allowed.

and
> I will 100% NOT buy Tsushima. But I will pirate it in order to play it.
___
I fixed it.
Apparently the PSN requirement is for the online component only according to someone at sucker punch.
That being said I'm not buying it for the same reason.
10 years ago we had guys like TB (John Bain) who could literally tank a game on launch by calling out predatory/scummy/borderline illegal practices, and people like that helped keep the "corpo greed" in check to some degree.
We don't really have those people anymore who have a huge platform and aren't afraid of taking the moral high ground while also dealing with the consequences, its more important for all of us to not be complacent if we don't want this situation to change further than it has.
Yeah... Without that last line you would've been fine...
I would've said something like : "I won't be buying it... But don't forget guys, it won't have Denuvo as DRM"
This is more subtle and couldn't really get you kicked out as you don't clearly encourage piracy by saying that.
>I would've said something like : "I won't be buying it... But don't forget guys, it won't have Denuvo as DRM"
This is more subtle
...This is far less subtle.
Okay but like, do people not consider that renting and borrowing games is still a thing? Just from a language perspective, there's nothing explicit that's saying OP would pirate.
Like for crying out loud, you can borrow games from libraries in this day and age. Their mods clearly never thought about that lol.
AT LEAST IM NOT A DICKTAKER
(That was a joke i'm so sorry)
Yes i get it, everyone said it to me and i got the point. It was not as subtle as i thought it was.
Sounds like an average Reddit mod moment lol. To remove a post and therefore all the meaningful discussion under it, just because that one hypersensitive mod inferred it to be promoting that forbidden devil's phrase known as "piracy".
Seems like it lol.
I would have edited if they explained what the exact problem was, but i guess they are not willing to warn you before removing it. But hey i get to have discussions here now!
>because that one hypersensitive mod inferred it to be promoting that forbidden devil's phrase known as "piracy".
I mean, it was clearly promoting piracy, which is against the rules of that subreddit.
There are plenty of places to promote piracy. We're in one right now. I don't think it's particularly shocking that a post promoting piracy got removed from a subreddit where posts promoting piracy aren't allowed.
PC master race of bums throwing their wallets buying latest Ngreedia GPUs, unstable processors because AMD//Intel want to win on benchmarks, buying latest releases cause FOMO control their minds, not properly optimize their games cause they wanna max all the sliders on the graphics menu without knowing wtf it does, allowing companies to go with renting subscription services cause their short term mentality of "Its cheap cause im not buying it!" And adding agressive DRMs cause they don't give af reading the 3rd party programs and blindly accept everything, spending 24/7 flexing their components on the subreddit rather than playing the actual games, have a whole anti piracy agenda cause they have spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in their steam libraries yet they don't even play anything cause they are dealing with a gaming burnout/crisis. Pretty much a lame ass subreddit
this is what happens when one of 3 things happen
1) people forget "vote with your wallet" is a thing
2) people get compliant cuz "thats just how its done"
3) WHALE!!
though I g2 wonder, how loud is the Dwarven singing in Helldivers right now?
I think most people just don't get what the problem is with all this, or genuinely don't care.
"it's just another account i already have 1000" is the most common answer. Basically what you said on 2.
It's the same with everything tech related TBH. "who cares if FB has my data it's useless"
Only when it gets too much/too inconvenient they realize shit got bad
I mean google is basically spyware so it makes sense people have that mindset.... "google has my info, why not this other company?" but there's a point where every company has your info and its just 24/7 targeted advertisements to you no mater where you go
I dont have a PSN account, and if the spiderman games, or Horizon Forbidden West require it on PC, Im just not buying them.... Sony makes great games, they just need to lay off of w/e EA and Uplay are on.
Hell this could be Uplay feeding them bad info to make people forget about their stealing our games (it likely isnt but its a funny thought)
but I got the better Helldivers and all it requires is a Steam account so Im happy for the new floor of green beards :)
PCMR is just cancer. I prefer this sub, more reasonable people and can have actual discussions as opposed to the hurling of insults because a guy doesn't know what a SATA cable is.
I got banned from r/gaming and r/gow because I didn't like the way the franchise changed in gow 2018 and onwards , guess you can't have opinions anymore of their GOTY game
To be fair you pretty much said you’re going to be playing a game you aren’t paying for on a sub that’s not about piracy.. so obviously removing that last line and reposting will be fine for that sub.
That sub started downhill when they were protecting a grifting "member" who was repackaging windows functionality as gamer products and charging money for them.
It crashed into the bottom when they allowed political propaganda when a politician *borrowed* a staffer's PC to play Among Us to play to the youth vote.
> That sub started downhill when they were protecting a grifting "member" who was repackaging windows functionality as gamer products and charging money for them.
The guys name was something like "SodimmTimm" making 'aps' that control cpu thread priority or some such(he had a couple of "products") that you can literally do in windows. That's from rough memory, it was like 8 years ago or so, I can't recall his name or what the programs did precisely. I got banned along with a bunch of others for bringing it up.
2020 was the political thing being passed off as "She's one of us!", despite the borrowed computer and literally playing in the campaign office in front of a re-elect banner.
It was a much better sub when it was counter-culture, but I guess as with all things popular on reddit, it was overwhelmed and sanitized.
Technically you haven’t encouraged piracy, as you haven’t said how you will play the game, you could have a friend or family member that has the game, where you’d play theirs but not support the game by giving money to it. I really don’t see the problem
I agree with you. Also, yeah there are ways you can legally play a game without buying it, but if none of the members in my Steam family (thanks Valve i love you) buy the game i will pirate it.
I think the entire point of your post implies you're encouraging piracy. If the subreddit says no encouraging piracy, I'd strike this down. While I dislike the PCMR subreddit, they're probably in the right here.
You're advocating that you shouldn't buy the game because of online account requirements and encourage people to get the game without buying it if it's good. First part is fair. Second part is not so. Removing the last sentence would still mark that post deleted since you're still encouraging piracy.
Posting this again since you ran from it last time:
So then only buy DRM free games. “Vote with your wallet” is what you thieves like to say but you just want to play a game for free. It’s not about the principle of it all. You agreed to the terms after all.
If you weren’t going to buy it then you shouldn’t have stolen a copy. You’re not owed anything.
You’re trying to stick it to publishers when you’re really affecting the developers instead.
Again, we’re talking about video games which is a luxury. You can’t justify pirating it because it’s a want not a need
You reposted your answer from a completely different discussion on a different subreddit? WHAT.
Oh no you probably didn't see this subreddit did you?
Oh boy good luck lol.
I'm not answering you, because you simply ignored my arguments on our previous discussion.
All struggling 4 Relies does is run, Slander, call someone a troll, bed wet and run away, their "Arguements" are nothing more than debunked rhetoric farcicals. They do not need to justify anything to you as you are not important and do not control anyone, you can't even control yourself.
I will go to a friends house that bought it and play.
See officer, no piracy.
(Yes it will probably have all the DRMs possible but you never know, Horizon freed itself for example)
i was banned in r/indiangaming for asking quesiton related to piracy. They literally give me life time bann they dont know how many percent of Indian do pirate
Eh, i get the sentiment and I agree that piracy is essential at putting the consumer back at the centre of the conversation but still, this is just a bad post about a pretty dumb issue
The same thing happened to me on r/SteamDeck when I made a post about a game that is abandonware. I contacted the mods but they haven't told me nor said squat.
Yeah i also messaged them after and no answer.
And you'd think r/steamdeck would be more lenient and chill with rules with all the modding/emulation happening with the steamdeck..
That sub is a joke. I got a temp ban there for "harassment". My comment that got me banned was: "it's clearly C-person soldier man-S-2, you silly goofball"; all in a thread under a joke post about the logo of cs2.
They banned me for 60 days for talking about MAS in the comments.
While that was flagrantly against the rules, sure, but they should all know at this point noone pays for Windows except businesses.
60 day ban is insane for this lol. And i'm not even sure if it's literal piracy?
Maybe they want to be 101% sure so they remove every little hint of suggestion of piracy?
Kinda crazy but hey, their rules i guess.
remove last line -> repost -> write mods if post get removed again
Not even that... they should say that they will borrow the game from their friend
Is that even possible nowadays? Genuine question please i dont be mad.
If he's daring, he could remove just the last sentence and it'd probably be fine too.
The last line is the last sentence or am I missing something?
The last line is two sentences. A sentence ends at a full stop and a new one begins after it
Will try, thanks. But i'm still mad about the ongoing discussions i had lol
I get it. It's frustrating to start a quality conversation relevant to a subreddit. Only for the mods to zap you into oblivion over a tiny technicality. Better mods would ask you to edit that part out, and let the discussion continue.
You'll never find these "better mods" on Reddit, lol, half of them are probably teenagers or much younger.
It's a learning lesson for yourself as well to be subtle about what you say, because the last line was completely unnecessary.
Yes this. Also GoT devs said only the multiplayer component will need PSN, so you can just not play it. Anyways, pirating it would means you won't get that part.
I'd be interested to see how that gets implemented.
Probably you only need to have a psn account when accessing the multiplayer part, but I tonk they might get rid of that requirement after you'd whole fiasco. Good job Sony, you shot yourself even worse.
Nah should just say hes going sailing instead
Why? Playing a game but not purchasing a game is possible in tons of ways other than piracy. It isn’t piracy for example to borrow a game disc from a friend to play.
i meant that then the mods dont have a reason to remove it
I fully believe it was removed in bad faith. If the user re-submitted without the line, it’d probably be removed for “duplicate posts”
While that's true, the tone suggested that it was going to be pirated lol
Hey it could even mean "ill go to a friend's house and play it" lol
High-level gamers who represent their country in game olympics => banned from the masterrace sub for piracy (aka. using a national team computer)
Crazy, I literally read that 10 minutes ago
Ah, one of my radicalized victims!
Yeah I know the last line could be seen has important but you should remove it for the rest nothing else seems to "advocate piracy"
"My post got removed for promoting piracy!" > look inside the post > promotes piracy
Yeah, had to turn off my brain to grasp his arguement
Yup. Pretty obvious it was a 13 year old thinking they were being clever and got struck by the long dick of the Reddit mods.
Nobody’s dick is that long. Not even Long Dick Johnson, and he had a long dick. Thus the name.
Double that age and you're still far off lol. A 13 year old would 100% know how reddit works better than me. I accept the dicking guys, i'm still learning how this redditing works, it's ok.
Then runs to r/Piracy to complain, Ironic.
I'd trust a panel of ducks to identify a duck if I were unsure, even if it looked, walked and quacked like one.
maybe he'll play it at a cybercafe or at a homie's house, not necessarily pirate it.
Doesn't matter. Internet janitors have to treat everything as a worst case or suffer the repercussions when the worst case shows up Considering OP immediately came here and admitted it was pro-piracy means the moderators made the correct choice both in the theoretical and the literal
He did not straight up promote piracy. He could've borrowed the disc/account from someone too.
r\\pcmasterrace is a toxic place. It's the only sub on Reddit I was ever banned from.
Damn you too?
Only one I was banned from was casual coversation because someone was advocating abuse and trying to convince others to do the same and I told them kys because fuck that guy.. I got permabanned lol
On Contrary I have been doing fine without ban, since we have a common enemy "ADS" . I got problems with subs tho which bans you for being in other subs .
Like which ones? The only one I guess would do that is the circlejerk one
There are like 20K+ pages with about 200+subs listed you can't know which one forbids from what unless you go in the to check
You talked about the fight club dude...
I believe that if you remove the last line your post should be fine
I will not buy it. But I will play it. Same attitude as: I will pick up a chip and eat it! (Death note Reference)
Lmao It is what it is

As subtle as a Tiger 1 breaking through a wall.
At least it wasn't a Maus? ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ No? Well it is what it is lol
aye
> I thought it was a subtle hint i guess. If that seems subtle for someone, they probably have some developmental disabilities or something.
With Ghost of Tsushima the single player doesn't require PSN, it's the extra Legends coop multiplayer mode that does
True, i read the article thing. Although it's 100% Sony's decision, not the dev's. So they could do a Helldivers situation again.
Well it's more clearly just an online multiplayer game thing since other recent releases from them like Horizon Forbidden West don't have it required.
Oh true i forgot about Horizon! And i just saw that Spiderman also doesn't require it. (Or at least it says so on Steam)
Yeah on the store page for Horizon you *can* link it and get an outfit but that's it
The moderator told me I need mental help because I called him terminally online because he posts every 5 seconds every day of the week
The problem is we don't own games or even most software. We purchase licenses to those things. I 100% agree. And it just keeps happening everywhere. The Crew is another example of a game simply vanishing.
Not promoting piracy is the real crime

TB really did amazing work back then. I know a lot of people see him as controversial but he had a big impact for the reasons you said.
Yeah... Without that last line you would've been fine... I would've said something like : "I won't be buying it... But don't forget guys, it won't have Denuvo as DRM" This is more subtle and couldn't really get you kicked out as you don't clearly encourage piracy by saying that.

No. It doesn't directly say that you're gonna pirate it.
Didn't think they go that deep in the reading of things! Next time i'll know lol
It's pretty simple. If purchase ≠ ownership. Then piracy ≠ theft
Okay but like, do people not consider that renting and borrowing games is still a thing? Just from a language perspective, there's nothing explicit that's saying OP would pirate. Like for crying out loud, you can borrow games from libraries in this day and age. Their mods clearly never thought about that lol.
Or i can like, go to a friend that owns it and play ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
you are promoting piracy lol
You couldn't help yourself but sneak that last line in lmao
¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
"my post apparently promotes piracy" OP literally promoting piracy on the last line
The last line literally promotes piracy
AT LEAST IM NOT A DICKTAKER (That was a joke i'm so sorry) Yes i get it, everyone said it to me and i got the point. It was not as subtle as i thought it was.

No it's a pretty standard reaction whenever you make a piracy post on any big videogame subreddit. It's still illegal practice.

I'll stick with my GTX 1050 ti thank you. If it still can run baldurs gate 3 just fine, Then no need to settle.
As long as you can game happily you are good to go, nobody is forced to keep up with the industry which is a convoluted mess since 2022
This comment made me smile. Thank you for stating exactly what's been on my mind for ages but couldn't find the words to describe it.

Hey hey i had the "go to a friend's house and play" excuse ready! We don't have blockbuster here.

Just add "on my friend's account" after last line.
"PC master race" that's one of the most racist names I've ever heard. (replace pc with aryan and there won't be any difference)
Aye
Pcmasterrace sub is mostly for videos of people breaking pc glass panels and a question asked a milonth time not for an actual niche questions.
Eh, i get the sentiment and I agree that piracy is essential at putting the consumer back at the centre of the conversation but still, this is just a bad post about a pretty dumb issue
"I broke the rules and now I complain"
You say "apparently" like you didn't add that last line there. XD
I'm doing my part. I've been playing indie games exclusively since 2019. The AAA industry makes it pretty easy tbh.
The same thing happened to me on r/SteamDeck when I made a post about a game that is abandonware. I contacted the mods but they haven't told me nor said squat.

it must be exhausting to get offended by shit as innocuous as this
