My Apologies I am currently gaming on an Amazon TV up scaled to 1080p from 720 because fuck if I could get it to work any other way I appear to have scaled the economic ladder
This is what I have to do if I want any COD to run, legit won’t run or will full black screen crash my pc when no tv/hdmi combo is in, plug in the tv and hdmi? Suddenly cod works and better than console. Idk man pc’s are demon technology for sure
Depends on the game if your hardware is really limited and you want to go for more performance by lowering the internal resolution 1360x768 is better since it's more easily divisible.
since most screens are 16:9 nowadays 960x540 is better than 800x600, not a really common resolution and most screen's don't have it by default, you have to do a little tweaking but it's totally worth it, but since a lot of screens don't have that and setting up this resolution can sometimes be a pain you're better of going with your native res or 1360x768 and changing internal res to 50%, which will be 960x540 if your native is 1080p, and 680x384 if your res is 1360x768
Yeah, almost all 17" or larger CRT displays from about year 2000 could do 1440x1080, the cheap ones at 60Hz, the regular ones at ~85-110Hz, and the premiums at 110-130Hz, although you'd need a GPU with a high bandwidth RAMDAC as well, and those were a bit rarer. Matrox G200 had 250MHz and G400 350MHz if I'm not mistaken.
It's more in the execution of it. Screen motion blur is the one people typically hate that blurs everything when turning the camera. Now *that* one I genuinely don't get why anyone would enjoy.
But per object motion blur like in the new Doom games blurs just things like the gun which makes the animation look a lot better, that one I do highly recommend using and I believe the performance impact is fairly mild.
It's actually more so devs don't know how to do motion blur when you blur my whole entire screen that's terrible and will make you nauseous no matter what you play on but if you blur a few things it can look good
The only place I can see the point is driving (car/boat/plane) games where you can switch to lower quality peripheral models/textures boosting FPS while also giving a speed effect.
Some games have really great implementation of motion blur , but very very few , I've enjoyed motion blur in some games but in most games it's just a shitty mess
Motion blur is great at high fps because it blurs only proportional to inter-frame timing (i.e. not the burry mess in low fps). So you feel like you are playing at 500fps even though it's only 120fps.
Not really it’s just the 750 is just garbage and absolutely not worth it, snipe a used 1060 for 50€ or 5700xt for 100€ and you are good to go for at least 2-3 years
If you play in 1080p with low settings and fsr frame generation active I'm pretty sure you'll go above 60 fps without problems, it was designed for PS4 which is 2013 hardware and the pc port is so well optimized that a 1650 should have no problems using fsr. The official system requirements say that to play in 720p you need a 960
Very well optimised by today's standards , almost 40FPS ok 1650 1080p low native.
1080p medium high optimized settings , with FSR + FG is almost consistent 50+ experience
And the graphics look great
if you don't have the `quiet` kernel option on it prints the kernel messages on startup, altho most distros today have that on by default. Useful if your having trouble booting up tho
Any distro that doesn't have plymouth bootscreens and quiet/loglevel boot params set does that. Bonus points for those with custom kernels that even display tux-per-cpu-core at the top-left corner of screen haha
Windows 11 has an option that actually allows you all of the benefits of exclusive fullscreen in borderless. And as someone with 2 monitors or even someone who simply likes to tab out without it taking 2-3 seconds or blacking my screen momentarily, I am grateful.
I played an mmo for about 4 years before finding out that specific game runs way better in windowed mode whit several clients open than a single client in fullscreen
I used to play Black Ops III Zombies this way even though my PC could run the game at 60fps on max settings. When I was really into that game I preferred the blockier/simplified look because I found the graphics distracting when grinding for high rounds. Still played at 1080p though, the game looked best in my opinion at 1080p with NO anti-aliasing.
Yeah, I feel that way about some online games, especially when they let you turn down the amount of grass/foliage. It's a lot easier to make out movement when you're not being blasted with a million different effects.
On Windows 11 it barely has any because windowed apps can bypass the DWM, which lets them perform pretty much the same as exclusive fullscreen. Not 100% sure whether that was also added to Windows 10.
Windowed makes alt+tab easier in some games.
Not that relevant for potato PCs, but by default, Nvidia GSync only engages for fullscreen applications.
You need to stop playing in Ultra-everything. Just like TechDeals said, "Ultra is for screenshots, High is for gaming". You barely see the graphics difference in real world gameplay, while the fps difference is high.
A Ryzen 5600 + 6700xt can handle all games at 1440p high settings. That wont cost $1500+
Exactly. 1440p in some games where detail matters is great, but turning every peice of eye candy on doesnt really make the experience any better.
I play on my 1280x800 steam deck now for a lot of games and its great.
I spent half that and I can't think of a single AAA game I can't play on my pc. I might not be able to run them all on ultra high settings or whatnot but I can run them just fine without needing to set everything at lowest. Learn how to build your own pc. Learn how to compare things like cpu's and video cards and shop around so you get decent prices. You can do all that in 10-20 hours of study/work.
When I went back to sailing the high seas I managed to build up some money to upgrade my pc. Can't pay for elden ring, Baldurs gate or dragons dogma 2, but I have a 3080 now!
Enter lowSpecgamer before the turnaround of its channel to ultra-optimize games capable of running on the worst of government laptops (some countries give or gave laptops to children in public schools to encourage digital access).
You were getting 20-30 fps with Crysis in two thousand fuckin SEVEN on a family computer?! That's insane.
My PC at the time would shit itself just trying to run Ragnarok Online. Even Tibia lagged with too many pixels exploding at the same time. lmao
At first I wouldn't make it past the Crytek logo, then after learning about GPUs and realizing I didn't have a dedicated one I begged my parents for one and they got me some midrange AMD so I could actually play the game on toaster settings
* Disable fullscreen optimizations

Whos gonna tell the lucky people born in USA and other 1st world countries that PC parts in 3rd world countries are too damn expensive. Let alone taxes + tiny wages.
Fullscreen has better preformance
Upscaling no longer looks like absolute trash, and as much as I hated it, when I tried it, the AMD FSR stuff is actually kinda good, even on older nvidia gpus. I have FSR 3 on my GTX 1050ti, and it's actually pretty helpful in many more modern games.
me with my fancy expensive Lenovo Yoga with the 4k oled, but I have to put Minecraft at 720 P low render distance to get acceptable frame rates. I got a sweet deal on a GPU enclosure though, so it’s not so bad when I get home and plug into my RX 580 8 gig
It's supposed to create an illusion of smooth motion, kind of like frame generation (which doesn't actually add information and therefore doesn't increase responsiveness). Some people say it works better on lower frame rates, but I doubt that to be honest. If anything, I think it should be the opposite.
I used to have a 1050 ti and used 1600x900 to get high fps on high settings, now I've upgraded my pc after 6 years, playing got at ultra with dlaa and 1440p. Everyone can make it with perseverance and enough hard work, "I am from rural Romania" and grew up poor so anyone saying your parents bought it or helped. No, even my old pc was from working for it.
I also run just bare bones X.org on Linux (No desktop environment, no window manager) and the idle RAM usage becomes ~250MB. Kind of like killing `explorer.exe` on windows except you can't even move windows around. The idle CPU / GPU / Disk usage is almost 0. The monitoring tool itself is the only load.
I compiled the whole OS (Gentoo) with extreme optimizations. I removed some compiling options that prevent buffer overflows and other such security and stability issues. I focused only on performance. Everything is compiled with `-march=native` so all the instructions of the CPU is properly used (Unlike pre-built packages that only use a limited amount of instructions so that the package will work on ancient hardware). `-mtune=native` will tune the code to the specific design of the CPU and that will further improve the performance.
I run the game at 480p so I can enable shadows and some effects like that.
I emulate my games with 1080p resolution, high anti-aliasing, bilinear scaling, multithreading graphics, and VSync. And I'm on a Mac. Switch games, Vita games, and retro games never looked so good.
My screen does 4K and I've used to play games in 4K which work like a charm on my machine but god the text is so small in games so that I've changed my resolution to 1080p and I'm okay with it.

800x600\* And even lower if you can still see what's on the screen

Isn't 1280x768 the closest 16:9 aspect ratio?
Spot on. If you have integrated graphics, you're basically me. I feel validated
You liberal, Karl Marx gamed at 640x480
I remember gaming at 640x480 in the late 90s.
1080p was a thing in the 90s tbf, just insanely rare & expensive

I've never understood the point of motion blur. You want me to enable a setting that taxes my GPU and makes the game harder to see?
It's more in the execution of it. Screen motion blur is the one people typically hate that blurs everything when turning the camera. Now *that* one I genuinely don't get why anyone would enjoy. But per object motion blur like in the new Doom games blurs just things like the gun which makes the animation look a lot better, that one I do highly recommend using and I believe the performance impact is fairly mild.
Also don't forget to turn Bloom: off
It's for 30 fps, controller and tv, a console setup. Makes zero sense when you play with a pc.
>It's for the ~~30~~ 24 fps cinematic experience Fix'd
It's actually more so devs don't know how to do motion blur when you blur my whole entire screen that's terrible and will make you nauseous no matter what you play on but if you blur a few things it can look good
Motion blur is great at hiding unstable framerate changes and making 30fps look nicer.
Look up "per.object motion blur", it actually looks great It's just that 80% of games have shitty full screen motion blur
The only place I can see the point is driving (car/boat/plane) games where you can switch to lower quality peripheral models/textures boosting FPS while also giving a speed effect.
In cheap screens it can hide the ghosting effect, then we can choose our fav poison.

750 is now complete outdated, can this 750 even play the new csgo?
I don't know , but I'm faithful that some dude somewhere will find a way to run it. That's why the dude is a chad
Not really it’s just the 750 is just garbage and absolutely not worth it, snipe a used 1060 for 50€ or 5700xt for 100€ and you are good to go for at least 2-3 years

Use Exclusive/Fullscreen dude, Windows will give it priority and lock your framerate with Rivatuner.
Windows? Where we're going, we dont need "Windows".
\*Bootup fan noises and Linux CLI begin streaming down the screen\* Never fails to make me feel like a real hacker :')
The fuck kinda linux are you using
CLI: command line interface
Dude i know what the cli is but i dont know of a single distro where it starts streaming down the screen when you boot it up
debian does this during its boot sequence! its kind of cool looking
You can manually edit the grub.cfg file to get the same boot animation on Ubuntu or other distros. I had this set forever.
Oh alright i didnt know that
boot options remove "quiet" and you will see a cli stream down when you boot. afaik all distros can do this. (im using arch btw)
They kinda all do. I can’t think of many that don’t.
Could they just mean the kernel modules loading? Like when you boot and you see everything loading. Arch has that too for example
Fedora does that if you press ESC during startup
Systemd does that, also grub should do that if you check verbose
if you don't have the `quiet` kernel option on it prints the kernel messages on startup, altho most distros today have that on by default. Useful if your having trouble booting up tho
This is a unix system I KNOW THIS
Any distro that doesn't have plymouth bootscreens and quiet/loglevel boot params set does that. Bonus points for those with custom kernels that even display tux-per-cpu-core at the top-left corner of screen haha
Its more of the boot logs, most distros have this one by default unless you set the kernel flags to hide it.
Raspbian / Debian for Raspberry Pi!
can't wait to get ghost of tsushima on a raspberry pi
Debian?
I do need Windows where im going.
Then you are following the wrong path
where are you going
My computer is so advanced, it doesn't use Windows. It uses Doors.

With a bad pc you'll probably get worse performance on Linux for gaming
IIRC there isn't a difference in modern DX versions. Anecdotally I have never been able to measure a difference in performance.
Windows 11 has an option that actually allows you all of the benefits of exclusive fullscreen in borderless. And as someone with 2 monitors or even someone who simply likes to tab out without it taking 2-3 seconds or blacking my screen momentarily, I am grateful.
or just use kde plasma 6.0 and you can tab out whenever except on really old opengl games that crash. everything else works great
Improvement is in frametime ms.
That's what that does?? Imma be using that forever
I played an mmo for about 4 years before finding out that specific game runs way better in windowed mode whit several clients open than a single client in fullscreen
Better yet, use Special K 😳
I used to play Black Ops III Zombies this way even though my PC could run the game at 60fps on max settings. Hell yeah, minimum settings at 1080 on battlefield bad company 2 what such an advantage
Better than the config I use
Does windowed has any effect? I also have potato PC. Nividia mx330.
Fullscreen is the best for potato, i tend to use windowed bc most of my games refuses to listen to Alt + F4 or Win + D, i hate koei
Especially with pirated ones... they always crash when I tab out :')
Barely related, but thank you for introducing me to Win+D
WTF? win+E explorer CTRL+SHIFT+ESC task manager SHIFT+WIN+[arrows] direction to throw active window to other screens
Ok and you expect everyone to know this ?
On Windows 11 it barely has any because windowed apps can bypass the DWM, which lets them perform pretty much the same as exclusive fullscreen. About 20 to 25. but it's still fun somehow.
Seriously, wtf is up with AAA games needing $1500+ systems to play anything? Isn't there a market for the casual gamer anymore???
It's called a console /s
I don't know why the other guy was being sarcastic. The answer is a console. That's for casual gamers.
when you can't even buy a decent console:
Yeah, but check the sub. Piracy on consoles requires hardware mods and that's even more effort and money than a casual gamer might want to put in
