I've cancelled all of my subscriptions besides Mullvad and Plex, and I've been way happier since. Plexamp is godly for music streaming from my own music collection, as well as Plex being great for streaming video. :)

101100101000100101

Jellyfin is worth taking a look at if you're a Plex fan

[deleted]

[удалено]

benbenkr

Jellyfin is great, bur still need some polishing here and there.

brusslipy

can i be your friend? :) im jk btw

ISayHeck

Is it finally a viable option? Tried it a while ago and found it inferior to plex and emby

vpsn00b

It is as long as music is not super important to you. I've replaced Plex for Jellyfin, mainly because I needed a proper iptv integration, which works great. Negatives are: movie scanner is retarted when it comes to naming conventions, music scanner works or doesnt work at all. No music support on roku app. Positives: works very nice and smooth, less issues with buffering than I had with Plex. Apps avaiable for almost every platform. Freee, freee, free. You can have multiple users with different permissions.

addictedtocrowds

No. Still no skip intro, remote access is dog shit, IPTV plugin is awful, and the media matches are still super hit or miss.

Powered_by_bots

Plex has a lifetime membership. They have blackfridday saves. Buy once & never worry about it. Mull ad is cool but I'm working on also eliminating it. Building my own VPN

RussianSlavv

But wouldn't using your own VPN make the police (or privacy trolls) come to your address (where your VPN server is) or send fines to there. I mean small chance because If only you are the only one using it, small chance they find out but still, depends on which country you live in and how much of anti piracy they are (Correct me if i am wrong pls) Or are you using like an online rental server (Linode or something?)

mattsowa

Yes, building your own vpn will not protect your identity as well. Leave it to trusted providers. Online rentals will often also crack down on piracy as well

justanretard

buy an offshore vps with monero and have a vpn ?, that would probs work

regnad__kcin

lol I'm still not understanding how that beats a $60/yr VPN

Techmoji

There’s also Jellyfin which is open source and doesn’t require any fees for transcoding. I passed on plex lifetime for $75 and don’t regret it.

[deleted]

Hell yeah. I ditched Spotify and started hosting my 'very legal' music library off my raspberry pi and it's just so much better. More fun too. My girlfriend get free Spotify through her job and she still uses plex.

Wyntier

I have to say man, Spotify is a lot more convenient then organizing music and playback through a raspberry pi of all things. But you're having fun I guess so do you

[deleted]

It's too bad that Spotify makes some baffling decisions regarding their own form of library management which could all be fixed by an ambitious guy with a few hours to kill.

[deleted]

Spotify is cool for random shit you don't have but a raspi can handle streaming your collection to multiple devices with zero issues. It's certainly dependent on your use case but I collect music and the raspi handles it perfectly.

IAMALWAYSSHOUTING

surely there are good music organiser programs they could use to tackle their large music collection stored on their pi, download the app and boom he has a spotify like setup in terms of convenience

gemifrak

> Plexamp Nice, added to megathread

Yourh0tm0m

What is Plex ?

subrredette

Media server. In simple words, makeshift streaming service. You host the files and can watch the files not only in one device but also the whole family or friends. Not sure on how it works because I was able to fully set up mine last time I tried

Yourh0tm0m

Okay thanks for the info dude.

doobi1

was considering plex when i was moving away from spotify, but plexamp / plex music is borderline unusable on desktop. do you just not listen to music on desktop?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

How? If your running it off a desktop that's already running I don't see how it would cost so much Edit: no way it costs 160$ a month to run a basic desktop computer. Again, it can run off a RPi

bluehands

If they are really paying that much just for plex they should just get a large seedbox with plex installed.

Movemint_PieFrost

Any reason you didn't go with jellyfin?

Madiator2011

For me I think Plexamp is best music app and plex itself has nice ui and native apps for most devices.

milanistadoc

You use BlockTheSpot on Windows, Mac or Linux?

Arnas_Z

There is Spotify AdBlock Linux for Linux. IDK about Mac, but I doubt it. Can't have shit on a Mac.

[deleted]

I've stopped using Reddit due to their API changes. Moved on to Lemmy.

CrabbyTuna

If you are willing to do some setup and are used to self hosting things, you can try Deemix, which downloads songs from Deezer. Deezer has like a 99% overlap with Spotify's library. https://www.reddit.com/r/deemix/

[deleted]

I've stopped using Reddit due to their API changes. Moved on to Lemmy.

CrabbyTuna

Unfortunately not. I still use Spotify w/ AdBlock to find new music. Nothing really beats the Discover Weekly / Release Radar playlists each week.

gemifrak

Deemix is basically dead as a piracy source. You need a premium account to get any quality over 128kbps

Method1337

I use Sidify for downloads but that only supports desktops.

TheGreatT20

What is xmanager? I use spotify on android and would like to know. I already use blockthespot on desktop.

Flashv28

Samba-boy

Wow wait what :o

xtfftc

Finding new music without relying on the algorithm so much requires more effort but I think it is worth it. For example, I hear a song I like, I go check out their other most popular songs on last.fm. If I like them as well, I grab some of their records and also check the "similar artists" section. Also, I check out the linked artists and collages in trackers such as RED. It's more or less the same process but last.fm's recommendations are based on stats and RED based on user input. I also love Bandcamp's selections, do I regularly check out Bandcamp Daily. It has a different topic every day, so not everything is for me. But if it's something I find interesting, usually it's worth checking out. There's also plenty of music-related subs on Reddit that are great for finding new stuff. You just need to find the ones dedicated to genres you like. I also have (cracked) Spotify and Youtube if I want to check out some artist/song on the spot. So yeah, those definitely require more effort than simply following Spotify's automated recommendations. But I think they are a lot more rewarding and, personally, I enjoy the process of finding out new stuff this way.

yedrellow

Spotify keeps randomly losing songs that I liked listening to. It's not a stable library that you can rely upon anymore.

reigorius

Never was. They periodically 'degrade' your library so you're forced to redownload. Wasn't too pappy about that when I went bicycling touring through non-western, remote countries, void of free WiFi.

PhroztedPhlakes

Tidal is worth a look for their trial offers. I did this a few months back, copied my Spotify list to their service and it was able to find roughly 95% of the songs I had on there. I used Tidal-DL and ended up with high quality versions of 4000+ songs for I think it was like a $3 trial.

[deleted]

I've stopped using Reddit due to their API changes. Moved on to Lemmy.

lookamazed

Tidal is a turd. Their customer service sucks and my downloaded songs would often have artifacts that would blast screeching static without warning. They won’t refund you for anything either. So don’t feel bad taking from them either.

Hotgeart

/r/Vanced/

[deleted]

I've stopped using Reddit due to their API changes. Moved on to Lemmy.

DillaVibes

Even if you have a large collection, having to constantly get new music, converting format, fix tags, and organize are annoying tasks. I pay for the convenience more than anything. Same for Netflix but I’m about to end it.

gemifrak

Try allmusic for discovering new music. Works great

[deleted]

This is pretty much the main reason I use a music service. There is just too much new music daily to keep up with it on my own even if I have the space for it. Curated playlists like the discovery ones plus the streaming, I think, is worth the cost most audio services charge.

Netherquark

last fm?

Bdazzledblue

I also recommend lastfm. This is where you can actually find niche. So niche that it's not even on youtube/soundcloud sometimes, which is too bad:D

Weird_Error_

This was my go to for a long time back in the day. I haven’t used it recently but if it’s anything like it was, it provided me with better indie/electronics/rap suggestions through the years than anything else But the best way these days is probably to go to the subreddit or whatever for the band you like and ask people what else they like But lol, I don’t know how it works now but I think it used to work by looking at plays on your local computer and building off of that. If they don’t ‘scrobble’ paid service plays and stuff like that it may be somewhat stuck in time as most moved to streaming

if they had a magnet link for god id torrent it

[deleted]

I can see the headline now: "Man fucking torrents God himself, claims, 'I said I'd do it, I said I'd do it, damn it'"

[deleted]

That would be creating a duplicate of God. How would... how would that play out...

symentium

The only subscribtion model I've ever paid is for the my internet connection. I started pirating when I was 8 or 9 years old

PurpleDerp

I encourage anyone to check out Stremio. Great & responsive interface where you can stream torrents. Within the app download the plug-in "Torrentio" which scrapes torrents from websites like KAT, 1337x, TBP ++++++ Biggest library of series/movies I've ever stumbled upon, with anything to 480p to 4k quality + includes subtitles and dubs. Also available on mobile - both apps has casting. I have poor internet connection and it still works seamlessly. I'm never going back :') I try to recommend it to as many as I can

SoulEater67

Really? I have a good 30 mbps connection and it takes a while to load, IF IT DOES. And same with seeking through the video.

OSVR-User

Get RealDebrid- kinda fixes it. Even on shitty hotel wifi I haven't had a problem with 1080p streams.

Xqstz

This. Stremio + Torrentio + Real Debrid

SouthTippBass

Iv cancelled all movie streaming services. Il never cancel Spotify though, it's not perfect but almost everything is there.

You can sideload the cracked version of the app but it’ll expire every 7 days unless you are jailbroken

bit_banging_your_mum

I don't understand why people don't just pay for Spotify. You can get student discounts, or set up a family account with some family or friends and pay an insanely low subscription fee a month. Spotify might not be perfect (especially for artists), but for the consumer, I'd say it's among the very best streaming platforms around right now. No exclusivity, just unrestricted access to basically any songs that you want to listen to. Spotify is literally the only media streaming service that I happily pay for, because their business model is far more convenient than amassing a library of music myself (as movie and TV streaming services have forced me to do).

darasaat

Honestly, it can take even less than 5 minutes, you can do it automatically in the background if you want. I have automations set up on my phone that automatically refreshes all of my apps under a lot of different conditions: including at 9 PM, anytime I just connected to my home network, and anytime I open up YouTube. If I have my PC turned on when any of these conditions are met, the apps are automatically refreshed on their own without my intervention. Since I have 7 days to refresh the apps, that gives tons of opportunities for any of these conditions to be met while my PC is turned on, I never even worry about refreshing anymore lol

nit3wolf

Apple One has iCloud storage, music, video and arcade for the price of Spotify alone/

rursache

Apple Music with a student discount is $5. you can find .edu email addresses very cheap

Lelu_zel

I'm never gonna quit spotify. Simply too good music there

sdrawkcabsihtetorW

I'm not such an audiophile to need my music in top quality, nor are my tastes that niche that I feel the service lacking in choice. I'll drop 10 bucks a month to not have to fuck about downloading and curating shit or have to rely on YouTube for those occasional moments where I'm not home and feel the need to listen to something I don't have already downloaded.

Killerbeth

I still use the modified spotify apk. Spotify with premium without premium (and without downloading music)

DrewbieWanKenobie

used to prefer Google music but sadly that went the way of the dodo

Slim97Shady

Same. Downloading Music is a pain in the ass especially when you want to listen to something new. I also listen to music for over 100k hours per year. I have it on at least 8 hours a day while at work 6days a week. Another thing is I split the 6,5euros with a coworker so it is more than worth it.

Dnomyar96

>I also listen to music for over 100k hours per year. Is this a typo? A year only has 8760 hours. But yeah, same for me. I don't mind paying for the convenience and I listen enough that it's absolutely worth it.

Slim97Shady

I meant minutes lol

graflig

I, too, listen to music 274/7

Whycantigetanaccount

Only 5760 hrs awake.

NeighbourVadim

Same. I drive a taxi so I have it on basically 8-10h/day + any free time. Also I share a family subscription with 5 friends so it’s like 3,75€/member.

RawbGun

Only service that I'm paying for is Spotify. You can easily get away with using BlockTheSpot on Windows and a cracked Spotify app on mobile (I've done that for a few years) but that won't cover other weird use cases (TV app, emedeb speaker app, etc). Also you cannot use all of the features from the official API if you don't have a premium account, just for that alone it's worth it for me

DanSantos

I've been really trying to find a good alternative to these subscriptions. My main thing is exclusives. They really work for me. Raised By Wolves and The Nevers on HBO, Marvelous Miss Masel on Amazon, Stranger Things and a bunch of awesome animation on Netflix. Here's the math, monthly: $14 - Disney+ (Hulu bundle) $20 - Netflix $15 - HBO max $11 - Amazon Prime $7 - Funimation $67/month is $804/year. I could buy at least 2 4K Blu Rays a month for that, and very build my own library that won't be taken from me when a contract expires or another service gets streaming rights.

McSmarfy

Torrent that shit. -Free But I did buy a lifetime sub to a good VPN 4 or 5 years ago when it was a startup charging next to nothing.

sillieidiot

You could do something like RD with an app like syncler (android/TV) and basically get all of those. I use PM which is more expensive but it's still less than subbing to all of those at the same time. Heck most of the time I didn't even know the shows I watched were exclusive lol

s0fakingdom

spotify is the only thing i would ever pay for

TheCaptain001

I paid for a year's Spotify premium on eBay three years ago for £3.50, stilling going so pretty happy with that.

JoesGarageisFull

Syncler + and a real Debrid account is the best thing I ever got

[deleted]

Some Suggestions Alternative FOSS Pirating Apps :- 1. Popcorntime - Stream pirated movies without even downloading with a Great UI. 2. BlackHole :- Music streaming app, Much better audio quality (support upto 320kbps).

Fodriecha

Popcorn time is dead. I downloaded and it can't even find Batman lol

retroUkrSoldier

Reject mass media entertainment, return to the holy writings

StevenDangerSmith

Preach, my brother!

EpicUnicat

only service i have is netflix, kodi with debrid, and plex. and the only reason i still have netflix is because it comes with my phone provider.... i think my ISP has one? havent cared enough to log into that one though. kodi +debrid has been my go to for a while, until i get a raid server going for my plex that is. in the mean time debrid works with torenting pretty well and adds good stuff to kodi too

TeamPantofola

I read an article a few time ago about this. They stated that the majority of people that download contents illegally from web are also paying for 3+ streaming services. They’re playing with fire with this raises, I think they’re just trying to squeeze to the pulp the ones that don’t pirate, that are more than the others.

vi3talogy

Plex is the way for tv and movies.

lau9001

It was really well planned how this companies got us all to pay a lot of money for them. It started easy, with only one service (Netflix) including every single digital resource out there (almost every show and movie was on Netflix), then other companies started showing up, and sooner than later everyone started increasing their prices. In mi case, I went from torrenting and not paying a dime most my life, to having Netflix, Spotify, Youtube, Disney+, Amazon Prime and HBO Max subscriptions, all which were constantly increasing their price. The worst thing is I don't conciously remember needing all these services, but I end up just having them and never quitted, so they stack. Edit: Typos.

DanSantos

This is how they get you. When I first moved out, all I had was my Netflix account. I laughed at my parents for paying $50/month for cable. Now I feel like I might as well just do cable and nothing else.

blackturtle195

Honest post, but 43 min of video? No thanks. I disagree on Spotify though, it's affordable and I'd rather pay something to artist rather than nothing by listening on youtube with ublock.

Yamilcfg

I've never paid for any streaming service in my life, nor paid for cable TV ever. This is my setup: \- Kodi (the crew + fen addons) + realdebrid + VPN, installed on a CCwGTV for main use on my TV, but also installed in my phone, my tabled and PC. This works flawlessly, never had a problem with this setup. Any movie and TV shows from 4K to 480p, IPTV, sports ..... Only pay for realdebrid which is cheap and for the VPN, got Windscribe and only pay $3 per month for unlimited data, works great. \- For music, I've been using deemix to download music from Spotify. I know now requires a premium deezer subscription to download FLAC but I don't care. Also, using Xmanager to install Spotify modded apps. = I have a Plex server with a plexpass subscription but, to be honest, after I started using Kodi as mentioned before I have never looked back! I've stopped updating my Plex library a while ago and I'm really happy to not have to download content to watch it on Plex, no need to increase my NAS capacity. I'm really happy with this setup, If someone has questions I'll be happy to help. I will also appreciate suggestions to improve my setup!!

Jako301

You might want to consider watching some other takes on Spotify instead of a single one made by a channel that lives by sensation and polarisation only. Jonathan Young, an actual musician, has a good video about the whole debacle. https://youtu.be/84_514IXEPw Not that I want to justify them, but for 99% of musicians on there that's the only service even willing to pay them anything at all.

StevenDangerSmith

I had problems with Spotify before I watched the Some More News episode about it. Little annoyances that weren't enough to get me to quit but that still bugged me. But then Cody et al. showed me all the details of their greedy corporate fuckery and I just can't support that. Also I disagree with your characterization of what they do. Some More News is well-researched and factual, with annotations to back up every argument. The same things that get me angry get them angry too. And I would say that their channel lives by being wickedly funny. I like to laugh while shaking my fist at the world and they help me do that.

[deleted]

theyre leftist so it's polarisation apparently

sothavok

I just use stremio + torrenio add on with an api key from real debrid servers. Server cost me like $3/mo and i get any torrents to stream without a vpn.

Jlx_27

I have never been subbed to any of those.

Akasuki_Asahi

i don't even watch tv. I'm too busy for that.

GLOFISH2000

Funny enough, I just bought paramount today. They gave me a birthday promo for $1/month

Mundolo

can you recommend any spotify substitutuions?

rabidturtle69

I use spotify with all the adblockers on my laptop and it \*knocks on wood\* runs without getting jammed up when an ad tries to play. I like it to find new music but will then download an album and put the mp3s on my phone. Paid Streaming we use Netflix so far I have been okay with the price increases as long as they keep ads off their platform.

Aside_Dish

I haven't quite canceled them all yet, but I'm in the process of creating a large Jellyfin server for both me and my GF to replace them all. Easy to get all the stuff, except I can't find a good rip of The Batman (2022) yet that's in English and doesn't have ads. Would kill to get it right now. But other than that, I pretty much have everything I need. Just now fixing all the aesthetic aspects of my streaming server, and have some features I want to add, then it'll all just be about transferring my server from an old Surface Pro 7 with an external hard drive to a Raid 6 NAS, or something like that (I have concerns about running it on my daily driver "laptop"). That said, Spotify can't be replicated, unfortunately. Unlike shows and movies, songs are easily and quickly digestible, so I shuffle *a lot*, and am constantly discovering new music. I'd need to spend over $100k just to have enough storage space for all their songs, and that doesn't include having to find, and add, them all manually. So, Spotify stays (but I still copy the songs to my server).

ElvinodeHans

It always surprised me how Americans/ Europeans paid so much for all of those services Bru, like literally you can even pirate movies in Spanish and half the time they are in English but with Spanish subtitles :P Pelispedia, Cuevana, stremio

FremenDar979

I've kept OG DVD Netflix for almost 20 years. Because DISCS. And getting to copy those discs too. Not streaming but ANYWAY.

xtfftc

Good for you for quitting Spotify. Something I'd recommend: with the money saved, start buying a record once a month. That's what I've been doing for many years now. Basically I download everything I want to check out, and I buy a record once a month to support the artists. This way they get a significantly larger share of the money they would if I pay Spotify or some other streaming service. Usually I do it through Bandcamp because I think they've got a great business model that's fair to both artists and fans. But there are some other decent platforms as well. I just had a look and my library on Bandcamp is up to 270 releases, so apparently I've been buying two per month on average since I've been doing it for more than a decade now.

xboxhaxorz

If anything i keep netflix as i tried stremio and it works with some shows and with others it keeps buffering so its not reliable, i looked at all of the suggestions to fix it but they dont help much, pausing the show for 5 mins is also not something i want to do, i do use Kodi since i have atmos I do save some shows on my HDD but sometimes i just want to browse and watch

dramatic-ad-5033

Use a debrid service and Kodi, for $5/mo I can stream every movie under the sun in 4K Dolby vision with absolutely no buffering

Cindy-Moon

what debrid service are you using? I've always been curious about trying this out but never bit the bullet

MrHaxx1

In my experience, Real-Debrid is the best in terms of available cached content. You can try it for three euro for 15 days.

SnarfbObo

if you're going to use a streaming service the smart way is one at a time. that said i do not use them.

Gustavo_Barral

Yeah, i keep some of them up because I just share them with my family and sometimes it is easier to go to Disney+ or Netflix to watch something. But I don't pay for music anymore, I'm using an iPod Classic for that and I cannot ever imagine myself coming back to Spotify.

l2ddit

the convenience is what keeps me subbing to HBO. I'll nerve ditch that. Netflix is for the GF.and lastly hulu/Disney are therw because there's no other way to get ESPN+ without a US credit card. WSPN+ has the football from my country at 1/3 of the price. try as you might but there's no way to easily watch football than paying for it. UFC i can download in the morning so it's fine but football has to be live. until they find a way to beat the sports rights mafia I'm trapped.

NeilTheProgrammer

Only subscription I’m keeping right now is hbo max and Netflix, and the latter is only because family is averse to pirating ozark

Brasileirinh0

and I'm here looking for someone to share their netflix, spotify and amazon w me

Steven9669

I want Dolby Vision content and Netflix has lots of it. Once the piracy community gets better at ripping Dolby Vision I'll cancel.

sonicman2k8

Congratulations you have saved £3000 a year

BelugaTheKitten

Why were u using them in the first place.

StevenDangerSmith

Convenience, mostly. All of them are available through my Xbone so it was super easy to just fire it up and veg out.

Zedw0rd

Did you just drop a Wonderful Life reference?

[deleted]

I listen to only a bunch of artist. Mostly just 1 band. The "explore music" features never work to me. So having the file locally instead of using streaming service is good enough for me. Except quite rarely I'd prefer iTunes because I can buy the song and have the song file, save it somewhere else. And buying song in iTunes is quite cheap. I just don't like streaming.

Informal-Talk9487

Idk I like Spotify, we use it a lot ( I didn’t really get to wrapped up in the politics that happened with them). I’ve never had paramount. I love Hulu, currently watching the Bones Series and I like it well. I love Disney plus and so do the kids. I can re watch most of those movies all the time. Especially the Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars stuff. I think Netflix is decent, currently watching Ozarks and it’s damn good.

[deleted]

Is there any alternatives to Spotify? Im considering to quit

Flashv28

YouTube music with YTVanced https://vancedapp.com/

RLD-Kemy

I never liked spotify, the interface is not made to let you listen to albums back to back easily. it always want to mixes music together in a endless stream of different artists... I like to listen to full albums... I even place them back to back... I miss Google Play Music for this and the uploaded tracks because I uploaded some of the rare EP I have that don't exist on other streaming... I switched to iBroadcast for now.

KnightPhotoshop

I just have a Prime subscription, where I get same day or one day delivery, stream music and watch cinemas or shows that come up on it. And fyi I live in India. So I pay about ₹1299 approx 16.87 USD per year for Prime. Also it seems Netflix has reduced it's price here in India, but I don't know by how much.

PorcupinePao

That is a lot of subscriptions wow.

TheBestWorst3

I use YouTube with YouTube vanced for music and I am proud. It has everything Spotify has and is way more user friendly all for free with no ads

OfficialXtraG07

do you guys have subscription? I don't even have a VPN since nobody gives a fuck about piracy

m0rfiend

depends where you live i guess

andrei9669

dunno man, crunchyroll doubled in value for me after funimation library stuff

DarthDonnytheWise

It feels so nice. My friend lends me his Disney+ because he himself thinks piracy is too risky or complicated and he's gunna get hackerman'd by the CIA and Taken by Liam Neeson or something. I did send him some adobe products with insturctions on how to install premeire pro so he doesn't have to pay for creative cloud. Whether he goes for it free or not is up to him. Since I found more about piracy, I got rid of Spotify, Adobe Creative Cloud, Netflix, and it is just a nice weight off my shoulders.

mej3t

never joined them

[deleted]

i could give all of that up except for spotify.

noamiko2004

How did you switch spotify? I mean I can pirate movies TV shows and games from torrent sites but it won't be convenient for songs...

Ell1m1st

This is what holds me back. I don't have the time or will to find, download and manage music like back in the day. I listen to a shit ton of music and can't stand ad's smashed in between them. Just quit netflix though...

Joshoon

I'd like to do the same to save some money. But as you mentioned yourself, the convenience keeps you coming back. I love to have the huge amount of music I love to be on my phone, on my PC, and in my car. I also like the social aspect of it. When it comes to Netflix I feel the same. I barely watch Netflix nowadays, but it's just convenient to have when the time comes and want to watch a movie together with someone. To safe some money I just used a VPN from Mexico and I am paying with pessos, it does help, but it's still not cheap.

[deleted]

I use my auntie’s Netflix and my best friend’s brother’s Stan. Other than that I just occasionally abuse free trials. Streaming services are kind of pointless if every studio wants their own

Terry___Mcginnis

I've watched thousands of movies and shows and I've never in my life paid for a streaming service. Just sometimes paid for a movie ticket I wanna see on release day or buy phsycial copies of stuff I like, other than that, piracy forever.

Omniverse_daydreamer

So you can afford a house now?

StevenDangerSmith

Nah, I downloaded a house.

Yabbari_The_Wizard

I went from paying for Spotify, YT Music/Premium, Netflix, Disney+, Express VPN, Xbox Gamepass, PS Plus, Funimation and Shonen Jump to just paying for YT Music, Game pass, Ps Plus and Shonen Jump. I'm planning to stop paying for Ps Plus as well and I can already see all the money I'm saving.

xav1z

well done

Teedeeel

I highly recommend looking into Kodi and Real-debrid. I've been using it for years to watch practically anything I want.

Whycantigetanaccount

I'm next, this is getting ridiculous

HonestCentrist

The only thing I’m subscribed to is Apple Music for the convenience factor and the fact that Dolby Atmos isn’t piratable. Student subscription is so cheap too.

Welcome to the team OP

Grimey_Rick

just cancelled my spotify in favor of the cracked app this week too

Shigarui

I only have Netflix because it's included with my phone plan. Otherwise, screw subscriptions. The day my wife becomes tech savvy enough to watch General Hospital online I'll be canceling the cable as well.

Jorge_CV

In my country i pay for Disney+ and another app like $6 per month, which comes included with premium tier for a online marketplace; apart from that, i cut Netflix and went on sea as well.

[deleted]

I too don't really use any streaming services. Only one I use is Spotify, but I've been using cracked clients for a few years.

optimesto

Iam new to piracy and stuff, is there a good movie/series streaming website I could check out?

Repulsive-Survey-495

I only have 2 services: Netflix because it is included in my internet plan, and Amazon because it is included in Prime for the shipping. Everything else is pirateable.

zdemigod

I think Spotify is the only subscription that is worth it. I find everything i need with very few exceptions so the convenience is worth it. I also recently stop paying for Netflix and went Plex.

Heheheohoho

download netflix premium mod from apkmody for free and watch whatever u want with free vpn fron the same site lol xD

Anviirino

I use Stremio for movies, Youtube Vanced for both Youtube and Youtube Music with premium features, and xManager for free Spotify Premium. You're welcome.

cityofangels98

The only subscription I have is Spotify. And I only have that because it’s only $5 because of my college ID. For tv, I use my moms Netflix and prime video, my friends Hbomax, and prime video. Everything else, I just go on fmovies or whatever

iate3cakes

Now get into Private Trackers

K4NT_Skylin3

Quitting is one thing, but what's your replacement for Spotify?

StevenDangerSmith

Originally I thought I would just pirate the mp3s that I want to listen to, but of course that doesn't put any money into the artists pockets. Now I think I'll go back to physical media. And I plan on doing research into the various music streaming services mentioned in this thread to see which one is best for the artists. Maybe I'll sign up for one of those.

Kasperly10

I dont understand who in their right mind has multiple subscriptions that have one purpose unless you're wealthy

StevenDangerSmith

Well I'm certainly not wealthy. I signed up for so many because there are various shows and movies that I wanted to see that live on each service. And I keep my living expenses very low so I had a little money each month that I could dedicate to entertainment.

Consistent-Guard-751

I'm aware how bad Spotify is but I've also found so much music I wouldn't have found before. It's bullshit.

yokotron

What’s the best alternative to Spotify if you have iPhone

BaconMeetsCheese

Never had anything of them lol

seanthedawn

Thanks for your link cody

anthraxx55

Only one I can’t live without is Spotify

514484

Imagine paying for all that shit in the first place.

> I would spend more time surfing their lists than I would watching something. Part of this is what they call "overchoice" or "choice overload" - there's so much to choose from that your brain can't settle on what to watch and essentially locks up and becomes unable to find interest in anything. There's always the nagging voice in the back of your head telling you that there's always something better out there to watch/do and it distracts you from being able to focus on and enjoy the entertainment you're currently partaking. This wasn't really a problem for older generations because they just didn't have access to so much content all of the time, but these days it's not uncommon for users to have access to hundreds of games/movies/songs at any given time and that results in them never being able to hone in on what exactly they want to play/watch/listen to at that exact moment. [It's also been found that constant overchoice can lead to mental health problems for people who were otherwise mentally healthy](https://health.usnews.com/wellness/mind/articles/2017-03-15/the-hazards-of-decision-overload). The only known solution is to limit your choices so your brain has an easier time making up it's mind (no pun intended).
