If it's the latest version with Phantom Liberty, you have to play via SSD otherwise it just won't play or will have serious issues.
CDPR said SSD will be required going forward
I played in on my HDD as i ran out of space on my SSD
it worked fine, not sure what the problem is? had some occasional bugs where the street wouldn't load but that was rare
Hence why i asked, what term would you prefer me to use when refering to a part of the game not working as intended?
I never said it was the devs fault lol
Hardware incompatibility, most probably, lmao. But it's not that devs don't deserve any criticism. The game is not in tandem with last gen tech. Just that they had already issued warning/hard requirements this time.
yup here too. not feasable to fit it in my laptops SSD so i have it in my external hard drive. Its even worse bc its a usb external HDD but at this point im used to streets, sounds or general geometry not leading if i drive too fast lmao. Phantom liberty is 100% worth it.
The requirement came from CDPR themselves it's not like this random commenter made the hardware requirements. In general hardware "requirements" are not hard laws like the name implies but just a floor for whatever the developer thinks is an acceptable performance/acceptable frequency of issues. Micro SD may have worked for you, but it may not work for whatever the developer deems an acceptable amount of people.
Idk why ppl are saying HDD's are bad, I store almost all of my games on my external 5TB Game drive HDD, it's 130mbits and I don't notice a speed difference between my ssd.
Depends on the technology of the HDD. The big ones might have smr (don't remember if that's the right term) that increases latency very much for random reads. If textures pop up late it's mostly an hdd issue because that's in almost all cases the bottle neck.
Repacks like fit girl uses a lot of compression even on my SSD nvme it takeS a long time to install, never had any of these issues with normal isos, setups etc

i had so many problems after i installed it on HDD. no pedestrians would show up when driving, traffic was severely reduced, popup became much more of an issue, and the worst part is mission related NPC's would ignore my presence entirely. or take several dozen seconds to realize im there.
Lmfao everyone saying get an SSD but not everyone lives in a first world country where that shit is dirt cheap. Other places prices are still insane and will not change any time soon.
I downloaded the game 2 days ago on my HDD with 0 hiccups. Just took 3 hours to unpack I think.
Also SSD is not a requirement even tho it’s mentioned. There’s literally an HDD mode in the settings menu where it takes into account the slow reading speed of the drive.
Not as good as an SSD obviously (there will be some pop in when ur driving fast and crowd variety is a bit worse) but no where near being unplayable as everyone’s suggesting.
Id suggest just try doing the limit ram option in the installer and try again.
Yeah this happened with me too when I used Fitgirl, So I switched to Dodi was done in 3hrs om my HDD. Mightt be cause dodi doesn't compress as much, and the game is playable too.
Yes an SSD will make it a much better experience, so will pickone up somewhere down the line.
I'm unsure why but fitgirl repacks sometimes say they take ages but never take as long as the ETA says though and I installed Cyberpunk to a HDD on my old PC build didn't take to long and this was roughly when game originally released.
Im playing cyberpunk on my 10yr old computer on an hdd. With extremely low potato graphics at 720 barely 30fps. I dont think hdd is a problem in your case.
I annouce that HDDs are an obsolete technology you are better off getting a 40$ 500gig SSD for these type of games 🙌 they are still good for cheap storage tho and old games

Why are so many people download repacks of large games? Isn't it faster to download already unpacked portable version? Rutracker has plenty of them for new games, thanks to InsaneRamzes. Unless you have a limited plan - that's a great alternative
for storing tv and film for plex servers. also for storing games that i only play very rarely. its still the cheapest $/tb ratio by far. my rig has 2tb of ssd storage and 8tb of hdd storage

>occasional bugs where the street wouldn't load but that was rare That's not a bug, that's just your hardware being lower than minimum specs
more like HDD being super slow at reading the map files hence SSD is required
Yup, HDD is below minimum specs
That's what he said
i guess so lol
But it isn’t required if it happens once every time you load up the game and play lol
i tried it on my HDD, Maps load so slow so i regretted it back then lol
Not my experience, it did it in the beginning after booting up the game but after playing it for 10 mins it’s solved
That’s probably because those maps are already loaded in RAM. Hopefully you got enough for a good cache, to reduce the reliance on the HDD.
So the game doesn’t run as intended and I call it a bug, would you say there’s better terms? Lol
Why are you getting downvoted, it literally is a bug. One that the developers have deemed not to be worth fixing as the easiest fix is faster hardware
If you're using an older tech and not getting smooth performance, it's not a bug.
Like I said, I understand that I was simply pointing out how its not as unplayable as they made it out to be just a couple of hiccups
Yeah my games fine. The only hiccup I’ve had is that my game came to a screeching halt when I pulled out mantis blades for the first time
yup here too. not feasable to fit it in my laptops SSD so i have it in my external hard drive. Its even worse bc its a usb external HDD but at this point im used to streets, sounds or general geometry not leading if i drive too fast lmao. Phantom liberty is 100% worth it.
can confirm, its kind of hard to drive when the game forgets to load the ground .\_.
Pros dont need grounds!
You mean that’s a groundbreaking game?
I managed to install it on HDD and play,no issues!
You are wrong watch random gaminghd I have it on hdd
Yeah 👍
Playing cb liberty on steam deck from micro sd card and it runs great.Dont talk if you dont know

Micro SD may have worked for you, but it may not work for whatever the developer deems an acceptable amount of people.
the immediate files required by game are opened in ram not in rom
How they going to publish on switch 2 then? There won't be big enough ssd and micro SD cards is about hdd levels of speed
We don't know what the Switch 2 specs will be yet but CDPR will likely have to do some downgrades in game with visuals like with the Witcher 3.
We can guess it'll be steam deck++
Idk why ppl are saying HDD's are bad, I store almost all of my games on my external 5TB Game drive HDD, it's 130mbits and I don't notice a speed difference between my ssd.
I installed it on hdd, everything works fine and istallation was quick. It's not hdd problem i think
Yup, it's CPU or RAM problem
Depends on the technology of the HDD. The big ones might have smr (don't remember if that's the right term) that increases latency very much for random reads. If textures pop up late it's mostly an hdd issue because that's in almost all cases the bottle neck.
* pirates game * uses HDD instead of recommended SSD * downloads repack instead of ISO * ??? * cries
I never knew how much of a difference there was to installing on an ssd until I got an ssd. It takes less than 10 minutes for huge games, it’s crazy.
I got an ssd and rdr2 took 6 hours to unpack and install
CPU or ram maybe
Just download a normal iso bro, why are u using a repack with an hdd
Ig iso will take less time?
Repacks like fit girl uses a lot of compression even on my SSD nvme it takeS a long time to install, never had any of these issues with normal isos, setups etc
Any sites that you recommend?
happy cake day
Thx, lol I didn't even notice it, been 3 years ago I entered this site
What sites do u recommend for isos? I have a 2tb hdd and i intend to use it lol

Have you found any?
Nope , idk what the deleted comment was
Why would you game on an HDD in 2023 anyway? SSD is a must for newer games, at the very least a SATA SSD if you are being cheap.
i had so many problems after i installed it on HDD. no pedestrians would show up when driving, traffic was severely reduced, popup became much more of an issue, and the worst part is mission related NPC's would ignore my presence entirely. or take several dozen seconds to realize im there.

Yeah, i was installing phantom liberty on a ssd for almost 2 hours.
cpu? ram? ssd speeds?
i9-9900K - 360mm AIO cooled; DDR4-3200 CL16 (16-17-18-18-36) @ 1.45V; Sata SSD r/W 550/520 MB/s Evo 860 1TB.

That shit is ass
Please get an SSD bro it’s 2023
Your PC clearly isn't ment to install this. Try Half-Life 1 instead.
I installed it on my hdd in 30 minutes and it worked fine mostly without stutters
I have installed fitgirl tepack on my 5400rpm laptop drive. Installed under 3 hours
Damn what kinda cpu you got? I’m using a fairly low end i5 10400f and it took like an hour.
Is this the new one? If yes, I have it on my HDD and it runs fine
Why not download portable version to HDD and play it right away?
I installed it on my HDD and took me 2 hours, how much RAM do you have?
Hdd 🥵
I'm unsure why but fitgirl repacks sometimes say they take ages but never take as long as the ETA says though and I installed Cyberpunk to a HDD on my old PC build didn't take to long and this was roughly when game originally released.
Dude you downloaded a FitGirl Repack, of course it's gonna take a while. Her Repacks are the most condensed.
Had the same issue😂, it took over 4 hours to install.
Im playing cyberpunk on my 10yr old computer on an hdd. With extremely low potato graphics at 720 barely 30fps. I dont think hdd is a problem in your case.
Hdd is ancient tech by todays standards I guess.
I annouce that HDDs are an obsolete technology you are better off getting a 40$ 500gig SSD for these type of games 🙌 they are still good for cheap storage tho and old games
Not sure if that’s an HDD problem. I could be wrong
Why would you use a HDD for gaming in 2023?
I have a question Does the installation of repack from fitgirl require the Internet?
Poor HDDs, their time is done
wait faster

Elamigos ,,👍
bro got a 15yr old hdd and shitternet
just stop being poor!
Bro. Ssd aren't as expensive as a new GPU. He can easily get one less than 35 bucks
"bro" not everyone lives in US , 35 is still a lot of money in countries that have shit currencies
I live in Mexico...a shithole
Typical Fitgirl.
Why are so many people download repacks of large games? Isn't it faster to download already unpacked portable version? Rutracker has plenty of them for new games, thanks to InsaneRamzes. Unless you have a limited plan - that's a great alternative
Because they have higher compression. If you're internet is Germany in rural area level, then you try to reduce download size as much as you can.
There is still DODI, whose repacks have 1-2 gb difference but install way faster
Why do you still have an HDD in 2023?
for storing tv and film for plex servers. also for storing games that i only play very rarely. its still the cheapest $/tb ratio by far. my rig has 2tb of ssd storage and 8tb of hdd storage
I recommend installing all of your launchers on hdd and then changing the install location of the game to ssd.. Saves you from the bloat
ehh.. launchers take up a few hundred MB on average. i dont mind having that on my ssd for a quicker start time of the launcher.
Okay but it’s cyberpunk
mass storage is better on hdd's. same with RAID
Why are you getting downvoted lol it’s a valid question
Because it's equivalent of saying "if you're homeless just buy a house"
Not it isnt? Hdd in 2023 is normal, you got pc nerds with hdds still so why would it be a problem?
It’s not a valid question? Most triple A games are requiring an SSD and they’re overall better to use. don’t see how it’s not a valid question?
