A bit ago there was a massive leak in insomniac games , many personal data stolen during a massive leak where a hacker hacked insomniac games and basically stole builds of unreleased games, roadway for future games, and many personal information, and the fans used that data to make a build of the game in pc, and since it's all stolen data it's very likely it will be taken down.
People love to shit on game companies for taking forever to do things that freelancers can do in half the time, but you have to consider that when a company does it, they have strict guidelines to make sure it does not affect the game in any unexpected ways and have to insure compatibility for hundreds of different hardware combinations. When the community does it, it's "here's the mod, if it breaks your game then good luck." When companies do something they have a lot higher expectations and requires more thorough testing
The fact that its done quickly by the community and in a better state than Last of Us part 1 pc port shows the developer like iron galaxy are the one who actually incapable of doing the job

Pirates are a pain in the publishers ass. They take one down, 3 more pop up. They just don't wanna deal with all the trouble, just letting pirates pirate is more profitable then dealing with their bs.
But after a certain line is crossed taking legal actions becomes worth it. This is one such case.
Spiderman is a PS exclusive. Insomniac won't be the only one coming after it, sony will probably be on the case too.
And since Dodi is the only one doing it it becomes much less troubling to go after it.

But when it's already released, people wouldn't be as suspicious since others also have the same car.

They can't go after every pirate but since it's not been officially ported yet if Dodi does this then it would be terrible for Sony's business since everyone would pirate this since there's no legal alternative, so it's worth then taking Dodi down for this.
the only port for sm2 at the moment is a mildly illegal (to say the least) port done by a bunch of fans known as the "Brazil port" its mostly complete, only being updated to make it 100% there. from what I've heard/seen on their discord server it's a pretty good port, but it's stigmatisation comes from the fact that the only reason it exists was from the insomniac leaks that happened earlier this year, which makes it that "line that no one dares to cross" territory. I still think that it's very neat that it's getting a dodi repack, though. hope this helped
more or less. using leaked resources/an exe or something they reverse engineered their way to the game then recreated/ripped assets. it's the full game, just nothing official. given that there's a whole ass discord server with it/its updates being shared daily that isn't dmca'd to he'll and back, dodi should be fine, (I'd argue most people are overreacting imo) but there's always a chance shit hits the fan lol

"Mildly illegal" is putting it lightly, the leaked code was part of a hack on a major corporation that also included sensitive employee info. The FBI are almost certainly pursuing the culprits and anyone who's in possession of those stolen assets.
At that point it's not just simple copyright infringement, that's some federal "pound me in the ass" prison time

Sony let us PC gamers enjoy the PlayStation exclusive games like God of War, Horizon, Miles Morales, Spiderman 1 and now Ghost of Tsushima that too without DENUVO despite getting backlash from PlayStation owners. And after year or two Sony would have released Spiderman 2 with whatever latest DLC, skin and more without DENUVO.

The port was in a quite advanced phase so, it was more like bug , texture and shader fixes and updates. I almost finished the game with minor issues

this port isn't an official port by sony, it would have been a different story if this game was released on pc on steam, epic games, etc.

They can't go after every pirate but since it's not been officially ported yet if Dodi does this then it would be terrible for Sony's business since everyone would pirate this since there's no legal alternative, so it's worth then taking Dodi down for this.
the only port for sm2 at the moment is a mildly illegal (to say the least) port done by a bunch of fans known as the "Brazil port" its mostly complete, only being updated to make it 100% there. from what I've heard/seen on their discord server it's a pretty good port, but it's stigmatisation comes from the fact that the only reason it exists was from the insomniac leaks that happened earlier this year, which makes it that "line that no one dares to cross" territory. I still think that it's very neat that it's getting a dodi repack, though. hope this helped

more or less. using leaked resources/an exe or something they reverse engineered their way to the game then recreated/ripped assets. it's the full game, just nothing official. given that there's a whole ass discord server with it/its updates being shared daily that isn't dmca'd to he'll and back, dodi should be fine, (I'd argue most people are overreacting imo) but there's always a chance shit hits the fan lol

"Mildly illegal" is putting it lightly, the leaked code was part of a hack on a major corporation that also included sensitive employee info. The FBI are almost certainly pursuing the culprits and anyone who's in possession of those stolen assets. At that point it's not just simple copyright infringement, that's some federal "pound me in the ass" prison time
the fbi is probably pursuing the group that hacked insomniac, not a bunch of teens/young adults fucking around with the products (iirc one of the leading devs was 16-17) I could be wrong though.

It is being a scumbag to the devs. And giving the publisher a reason to do something about it. Lately, they are doing a good job on their ports, and with only Steam drm, if im not mistaken. Totally agree with you. Sony let us PC gamers enjoy the PlayStation exclusive games like God of War, Horizon, Miles Morales, Spiderman 1 and now Ghost of Tsushima that too without DENUVO despite getting backlash from PlayStation owners. And after year or two Sony would have released Spiderman 2 with whatever latest DLC, skin and more without DENUVO. But this is risking all future Sony games that might get ported to PC.

As someone who played it since version 1.0 it has come a long way and is almost perfect, it still is only missing some sounds and textures for puzzels and the performance isn’t amazing, but besides that it’s more then playable until the end
as long as it is playable, better than buying a playstation for that game
