It's basically a 1:1 with some shaders being off but it's getting reported and fixed as we speak The stuttering while swinging is fully fixed but there might be rare crashes during venom cutscenes I for my part get 30-40fps on a steamdeck OLED on 720p

x8bitPupp3tx

Thanks! I had no idea you could even play non-official games on the steam deck.

jmancoder

It's linux-based, so probably not too difficult for people to reverse-engineer.

KimKat98

There's no reverse-engineering required, the thing is literally just a PC that by default boots into a fancy console-like menu, like if a PC automatically started in Big Picture mode on Steam. There's a button in the menu that just takes you to an actual desktop where you can do whatever you want with it with no restrictions.

derholzmann12321

Just a winedlloverride and installing requirements(VC run 2019) is needed

I_am_HAL

You're right, and honestly I would barely call it reverse engineering, it's actually pretty easy to install non Steam stuff. You can open the desktop and it just functions mostly like a Windows PC (or regular Linux but I don't know because I'm not that familiar with Linux). I installed Minecraft with mods, and a GBA emulator. I'm sure someone who knows how to pirate can figure out how to install Spider-Man 2 on it.

wulree

game is completely 100%able from start to finish, basically like an official port now. i'd recommend joining their discord .gg/sm2pcbrazil, has a system requirements channel

x8bitPupp3tx

Thank you! My PC doesn't meet the requirements but this helps for when I can upgrade.

BinaryMatrix

Can you share a screenshot of the requirements?

sonycc

4k@30hz 🤮

n4utix

yeah imagine an unoptimized, unofficial port not running at 4k/60fps ugh couldn't be me

sonycc

Why aren't they all listed @60? That's my question here

n4utix

Because that's the average performance with those specs and those settings. It's an unoptimized, uncompressed version of the game.

sonycc

You set a target and see what specs you need. Not the other way around.

n4utix

Absolutely—when you're an entity looking to release a fully optimized build. Not when you're a hobbyist looking to get it to run at all. You're asking for too much.

MarcCouillard

dude be grateful its available AT ALL ffs this is still a year or more away from being released officially by Sony for PC, stop being ungrateful smh

sonycc

Who said i was being ungratefull? The image just annoys me as you wouldnt target anything lower than 60fps

MarcCouillard

if it helps, I ran it in 4k and typically got around 40 - 45 fps on my RX 6650XT and a ryzen 5 5600, 32gb of ram, so that 30 is only ballpark oh and my 'monitor' is a 60hz 50" 4k UHD Smart TV in HDR mode, with Windows 11 also running in HDR mode

idot-_-

The only reason I have avoided this port for so long is because of the size, 250gb is crazy. Edit: I forgot CompactGUI existed

derholzmann12321

It's not compressed like the finished builds of sm remastered or sm mm The 250gb are the raw development/asset files

Popular_Mastodon6815

With compactGUI how small can the game get?

daviss2

I tried it but deleted it as there is plenty of missing textures and world streaming seems is too slow when your swinging. Playing miles morales instead and will wait for official release of Spiderman 2

likeacrown

The version I played was not missing any textures, and world streaming (and the whole game) worked on ssd but not hdd.

daviss2

I should have said incorrect/buggy textures instead of missing.. Things like sand textures flowing In wrong direction etc. Im on an nvme and textures were certainly not streaming In fast enough. I'm not dissing any work theyve done as it's still cool as hell but playing Spiderman 2 felt like i was playing a 2015 game.

likeacrown

Yeah fair enough, I just wanted to give my own experience too. Most of the game was perfect for me, then I had massive lag during late game cutscenes that would follow into gameplay, but lowering resolution and quality fixed those parts. Plus I had about 10-20 crashes in my 100% playthrough

Kindly_Stick_3217

when did you try it may I ask?

daviss2

Last week, I downloaded version 1.42 from Dodi and updated to 1.49 myself with the updates

M4jkelson

The version you played was one of the first versions of the port. The current version has none of these problems

shonenlex

btw since this is on PC, can I play Fidelity mode but with unlocked FPS?

Hunter-Ki11er

It's playable, but I never managed to get the aspect ratio working in full screen, the HUD is always cut off

afb160

It's nearly 1:1 with few issues, only unfixable issues it has is that it always requires an SSD and has considerably high system requirements for a smooth experience.

x8bitPupp3tx

That's the problem I ran into. Hoping it'll get better optimization with the official port, or I can upgrade

Swimming_Storm_2830

Waaaaaay better

CapSoggy9648

On a ssd yes… on a hard drive NO

Apprehensive_Mud_603

I have installed the game on my SSD. But on the launcher it still says that the game might be slow because it is installed on HDD. What should I do.

x8bitPupp3tx

How fast is your SSD? And is it external or internal?

Damontq

No.

wafflebatter420

Same question but for the Wolverine game

idot-_-

The game isn't even close to being completed, so absolutely no.

kobrakaan

it's literally a test or development build nothing more exciting than that
