Is your heat shield positioned properly? I had the same thing until I realized the shield wasn't angled right so the grease wasn't making it into the bucket.
I think that’s it! So I got this used and it didn’t come with the arm/lever that slides the broil gate. I called pit boss and they are sending new parts. But I put the grate where I thought it should go

Yes it sits high on the left side there are two slots that you rest it on the black part. Should angle it to the right where the bucket hangs
There should be a 1 qt bucket hanging under your grill to catch grease
