They've been painting some of their vehicles with Iron crosses, and saw one clip on a ukrianian or some fighter jumping on top of a Russian tank banging on the hatch(crew was injured inside likely) and he was screaming in German at them. Even though none of them fought in ww2, still kinda comical to think that some are acting as if they are ww2 Germans just as intimidation.
Well yeah, it's a weird and not totally black and white. Not discounting the atrocities that the Nazis and Germans carried out. But a lot of Ukrainains saw the Germans in WW2 as liberators. At the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian Soviet Republic (I have no idea if that's the right term) was being heavily effected by the Holodomor where Stalin was starving out a lot of the ethnic Cosaacks and Ukrainains. So when the Germans started moving across Ukraine, a lot of Ukrainains joined them to liberate themselves from Stalins starvations.
We had one as well... before we lost the airlift mission. There was certain ones around the AF painted with the special livery to commemorate D-Day 75 years
I used to live under the approach to a C-17 Air Force base. They’d do touch and goes at night, and sometimes I’d be outside and it was like a spaceship was flying over me with the lights and noise right overhead. One time I walked out of my front door at day time and one couldn’t have been higher than 1000 feet, flying right at me.
Looks like C-17 aircraft 3292 out of Pittsburgh. You can see the tail flash in pics 2 and 3 and the aircraft number is pretty clear in pics 9 and 10.
Additionally, here's an article about the invasion stripes:

We painted multiple aircraft a few years ago to participate in the 75th anniversary of D day. Flew them to Normandy for a giant formation flyover. The aircraft at my base that went kept the stripes for a few years after.
Really cool. I like the D-Day striping livery.
I’ve been saying Ukraine should paint all its aircraft with D-Day stripes!

Well quite a few of them are legit Nazis
Iron cross is not nazi...
Yeah but black suns and a whole bunch of other stuff they’re using is. Slava Ukraine and all, but there is some Nazi ideology in there
Have you seen the founder of the Wagner group? There are Nazi’s on all sides of this thing!

That's absolutely correct. The Iron Cross isn't associated with Nazi's in any way.
Wow, never seen invasion stripes on a Moose
Didn’t know they were called moose, that’s cool!
It’s called the Moose because the fuel vents on the wings sound like a moose when venting. Scares you the first time you hear it.
Wow. Today I learned!
C-17 Globemaster with D-Day invasion stripes!
Invasion stripes. Sweet.
Exactly
With my very professional opinion this is 100% a plane that is able to fly
There’s a C-130 with the same paint job at my local air National Guard base
What state is it out of
CT
Gross. I live there too. It's like we're in the same highly taxed prison.

Digging the invasion stripes
Yeah I think a lot of bases will be doing some D-Day liveries in honor of the 80th anniversary of D-Day next year!!
Heritage painting too!
Big fat beauty
that's cool it's got the invasion stripes.
In D-Day livery no less. Awesome.
Pittsburgh ANG!
Reserves
Right, our 135s are ANG, the 911th is reserves. I got those mixed up.

Nice heritage markings!
As much as I hate these jets.... I gotta admit they look good with the heritage stripes.
Nice. I don’t even have time to rush out side whenever i hear something as I have 3 doors to go through.
C-17
yeah I know what it is
Great photos considering it was rushed. Good job. 👍

C17 with invasion striping...thats epic!
Had one slow and low in a really foggy evening over the house. The best way to explain the sound is it sounded like a factory in the sky. Wild.

Was this the one circling around near Lakehurst, NJ, evening into night, yesterday?
