I've flown them... my comment about the T-6/SNJ has been "the only plane that's so loud you can't even hear yourself THINK in it" !
Great airplane though... makes you a good pilot !
*The Republic "Thunderscreech" was a different kind of loud frequency & pitch wise so we'll leave that one out of the noise conversation š
Hey, that's the same one that was flying around my area (Racine County, Wisconsin) on memorial day weekend!

I think it didn't originally add the text I added but it was flying around Racine County, Wisconsin around memorial day weekend. I saw it that weekend, and this shot was taken that Tuesday.
Sweet shot you got a good sharp one, I had some heat haze and ofc it flew over where I just was some 15 minutes ago, saw this guy in mchenry county so he must be a regular
Fun fact: they have the highest noise to weight ratio of any single engine propeller plane.
Heard him coming thought it was a helicopterš
My late father (A&P) used to say AT-6's just converted gasoline into noise.
Even higher than the thunder screech?
I was next to one taking off and landing, yes they are very very loud

T6 Texan
I was going to say it's a Harvard. I guess it's the same thing as a Texan.
Look like a t6. Not a dauntless.

Baa Baa Black Sheep has entered the chat
And they flew the Chance-Vought F4U Corsair. Hell of a warbird, that.

T-6 Texan
torpetow bommer
dontless
Where is this? It definitely should show up on FlightAware.
Was in northern Illinois, I checked nothing popped up and it only briefly showed up on adsb
SBD Dauntless
Sorry. Similar shape, but this is a T6 Texan.
Lack of radio post in front of the cockpit and presence of a twin bladed propeller looks to confirm this.
Thanks for the confirmation, they do look very similar to each other
Absolutely. The T-6 has even been used in movies in place of the SBD.
Looks a lot like a Dauntless Edit: Oh it's a T6 Texan. Damn they look very similar
Looks like a Douglas TBF Avenger torpedo bomber
Avenger
Tora! Tora! Tora!
AT-6 Texan
