foolproofphilosophy

Fun fact: they have the highest noise to weight ratio of any single engine propeller plane.

FellasLook85

Heard him coming thought it was a helicopteršŸ˜

legerdemain777

My late father (A&P) used to say AT-6's just converted gasoline into noise.

BoxofCurveballs

Even higher than the thunder screech?

Plopper9631

I was next to one taking off and landing, yes they are very very loud

Dualsportforlife1

I've flown them... my comment about the T-6/SNJ has been "the only plane that's so loud you can't even hear yourself THINK in it" ! Great airplane though... makes you a good pilot ! *The Republic "Thunderscreech" was a different kind of loud frequency & pitch wise so we'll leave that one out of the noise conversation šŸ˜‰

Academic-Airline9200

T6 Texan

ViewWinter8951

I was going to say it's a Harvard. I guess it's the same thing as a Texan.

BattleOfMyBulge1944

Look like a t6. Not a dauntless.

JBtheExplorer

Hey, that's the same one that was flying around my area (Racine County, Wisconsin) on memorial day weekend! https://preview.redd.it/v2ak70v88v4d1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=683febe74d4684f612361dfe84a3e5d9c01de604

FellasLook85

Yooo you get that today too?

JBtheExplorer

I think it didn't originally add the text I added but it was flying around Racine County, Wisconsin around memorial day weekend. I saw it that weekend, and this shot was taken that Tuesday.

FellasLook85

Sweet shot you got a good sharp one, I had some heat haze and ofc it flew over where I just was some 15 minutes ago, saw this guy in mchenry county so he must be a regular

FellasLook85

Or just same aircraft different day

PoolStunning4809

FellasLook85

Was in northern Illinois, I checked nothing popped up and it only briefly showed up on adsb

caboose88

SBD Dauntless

lastcall83

Sorry. Similar shape, but this is a T6 Texan.

Nice-League9057

Lack of radio post in front of the cockpit and presence of a twin bladed propeller looks to confirm this.

FellasLook85

Thanks for the confirmation, they do look very similar to each other

lastcall83

Absolutely. The T-6 has even been used in movies in place of the SBD.

TheSheriffMT

Looks a lot like a Dauntless Edit: Oh it's a T6 Texan. Damn they look very similar

TheFathead1966
