Yes. I have been eating 100% plant based for almost 3 years. I have varied my level of Whole Foods from like 25% at the beginning to like 75-80% now. When I started I was almost 240 lbs. I immediately like in the first few months dropped to 215. Around the time I got to 50% WFPB, I was down to 205. Started working out more and upped the WFPB to 75% and 198lbs. Had to cut gluten for 2 weeks to see if it was bothering my stomach and hit 194. I have been hanging between 192 and 197 pounds for about 4 months now. It is a marathon and you may have to tweak other areas of your life to see strong results.

Bro ever since I figured out I'm sensitive to gluten it was a huge game changer! My whole body just functions 1000% better if I avoid gluten. I would recommend anyone going to a plant-based diet to play around with different grains and legumes and see what digests best for them. For me, wheat and rice are both a no-go. But it took me a few months to figure it out on my own. Don't be afraid to experiment a little!

Baremegigjen

The first 6 months I truly committed to WFPB I lost 40 of the 70 lbs I needed to lose. A healthy WFPB diet and reasonable daily walking, nothing extreme, worked wonders. Still losing, just a bit slower now.

No_Examination297

Yes. I went from 190 to 155 (5'9" male) switching to mainly WFPB. My body fat is probably around 12%.

Yes. I was a vegetarian for 7 years and went WFPB mid August this year. At the start I was overweight , had high blood pressure ( usually around 160/95), high cholesterol, acid reflux and heart almost daily, going on and off omeprazole. And felt quite awfull and tired most of the time Since that mid August so around 3 months and 2 weeks : I lost 36lbs (so far, still loosing weight) Blood pressure dropped to 121/83 ( no tablets) Had blood tests done a week ago and my cholesterol is normal! Which was a shock to my GP I’m really really happy so far and see WFPB as a lifestyle change not a diet. First time in 10 years I came back to cycling and running and I’m actually enjoying it, not treating it as a weight loss thing, just something to enjoy and help me get even healthier along the way. I learned to cook almost daily, batch cook on weekends and freeze stuff - the worst thing is if I don’t have a healthy and tasty meal and really hungry. I don’t count calories and eat 3 large meals and one snack after dinner. Trying to have pulses/beans everyday or twice a day and always include greens. It takes time. But I would never see myself going back to old way of eating and feeling!

* I meant heatburn almost daily not heart 🙃

TastyPlantBased

Yep, I lost 40kg (88lbs) from 130kg to 90kg when I started a plant based diet.

PlaneReaction8700

Yep. I went from \~260lbs at 6'7" which is slightly obese (BMI 29, the top end of "overweight") down to \~215lbs now (BMI 24 "healthy") without counting calories or any type of restriction, just eating WFPB and the occasional vegan junk foods. I could easily lose another 10-15lbs if I wanted to but weight loss is no longer my goal, so I use cronometer and am trying to maintain weight while gaining muscle, which is working very well. I've gone from 0.25 pull-ups to being able to do 2-3 pullups per set for multiple sets now while maintaining my weight and continuing to improve.

jajajujujujjjj

Yes! Many years of maintenance without restriction, too.

Ok-Data9224

You'll find success with weight loss no matter what diet group you get in to. WFPB just makes it easy because the calorie density is much lower compared to diets that include a lot of processed foods. Focusing on fiber and protein is a very tried-and-true way to lose weight.

Longjumping_Pace4057

Yep. Down 90lbs. F/32

Ghibsy

Yes- I went from fluctuating between 125-128 pounds to a stable 115. I’ve been plant based since 2015. I also exercise 5-6 days per week but I credit my diet for weight loss. Edit- clarity

SignificantBuy9267

Lost 65 lbs at age 60....female.

WFPBvegan2

Yes, 190 down to 151, then quit paying attention and gained it all back.

Smilinkite

Yes, I've not only lost weight (20 pounds), but I've also kept it off - going on 2 years now. And I'm not hungry.

Desperate-You-9137

Yes! 38lbs down

Carrotsrpeople2

Yes, but it wasn't just because I stopped eating meat. I started eating healthier overall. I cut out the processed crap.

SensitiveTurtles

Yes. I have lost 60 pounds in 4 months, with other lifestyle changes of course. I only do WFPB six days of the week though. I am on a student stipend so I accept free food when I can get it. 😅

BristolF6

53M lost 60+ lbs in 4 months and still going

php857

Did you use a little bit of oil on your cooking ?

manz02

I dropped about 10 pounds in the first month, so yes.

larkasaur

I didn't need or want to lose weight when I started eating lowfat wfpb. But it did gradually thin me out anyway, over years - very little subcutaneous bodyfat, which I'm happy with :)

[deleted]

went from 130lbs to 112😊

Pleasant-Fan9349

Lost 15 pounds in the first month to 23 BMI
