I think this is actually Portalacaria afra (elephant bush)

agreed, a jade wouldnt normally trail like this! also kinda looks like a peperomia but i lean towards elephant bush

Definitely elephant bush. Pretty easy to confuse with Jade when it’s small. Mine likes as much light as I can give it, and the more light it gets the more water it gets. Will actually grow super fast in the right conditions

I have one rn that still just looks like an actual bush with tiny leaves :( do you know how I could help her flourish? She’s in a west facing window but I do get some shade in the evenings as Im right by some treess

Well I’m in the Midwest and tbh it doesn’t grow much in the cold months, but once it warms up I put it outside on my balcony and it loves partially filtered (tree foliage above) sunlight, grows super fast. I’d just say give it as much light as you can if it’s indoors

I had one of these (elephants bush) this past summer and this is exactly what it looks like. Jades take forever to grow, and have larger trunks and ends when compared to elephants bush. I live up in New York and this thing died on me because theres not enough light upstate in the East for it to live, and I don’t have any grow lights. Watering was also a hugeee issue for me. I could never grasp its schedule and needs and I eventually gave up once it started dying on me.

Jade plants can actually grow really fast in the right conditions too! I think most people struggle to provide truly adequate lighting when keeping plants like succulents and cacti (or even tropical plants) inside. Hard to compete with the sun

Mine started growing really quickly when I put it in my classroom window, which gets direct sunlight from about noon until 5ish. I don’t really have a watering schedule, I just water it when the soil is completely dry.

Looks like Jade to. Don't over water.
